4 Bakers Keeping Sweet Traditions Alive

Compiling this reel was a piece of cake. Thats because its all about classic desserts. From Polands deep-fried dough delight known as pczki to creamy egg custard tarts considered a national treasure in Portugal, these treats are lovingly made from recipes that go way back. One of the bakers we met, a dessert anthropologist, specializes in resurrecting desserts made famous by Los Angeles restaurants. Among them: out-of-this-world banana shortcake that almost went extinct after the iconic celebrity hangout Chasens closed.
