Science Team!!! Huge announcement!!! I now have my very own Nickipedia Lab!!!! It’s in the early stages (as in just a few hours old) but we’re going to make it into a science-beast!
For todays experiment I wanted to try something I’ve seen on YouTube, but have never seen with my own eyes. I wanted to float an aluminum boat on sulfur hexafluoride (Deep Voice Gas).
We got it to work, but we found out that you really need fresh SF6 every try and the container has to be HUGE! The buoyancy of the metal boat in the SF6 is much different than water. The boat/barge tends to sink after floating for a few seconds. This makes me think that SF6 is leaking in through the sides slightly. We will try this again with a larger container… to be continued!
