It might seem like all the answers you need are at your very fingertips. Want to find the closest grocery store or learn how to bake a cake? Easy, the internet's got you.
Want to learn how to build a rocket engine? Ok, maybe not as easy but you could watch a video or two and attempt to figure it out.
But with the abundance of information so easily available, our memory's are taking a hit. With social media, news, games, and even books being available to you via laptop, tablet, or cell phone, just how bad are the effects of constant tech use?
Studies show that using technology is affecting our ability to remember things and while we might think using apps and websites like Google and Facebook are helping us remember more, it turns out instead of our brains storing information, frequent use of search engines teach our brains to remember where we got the information from rather than the information itself.
So each time you use the internet instead of taking an extra minute to rack your brain for the answer, you are teaching your brain to turn to Google instead.
So what could these effects mean for the future of society? To find out, follow Andy as he speaks with some tech experts in this episode of What The FAQs.
