Whats better than Pop-Tarts? Fresh baked Pop-Tarts that you can make at home! Food Stylist Rishon shows us how easy it is to make pop tarts with just a few simple ingredients. The best part of this recipe is that it requires very little preparation, and it doesnt make a big mess. So grab some store-bought pie crust, some jam, and an egg, and youll be on your way to poptart goodness. Plus, stay tuned for the awesome photos she takes at the end.

How to Make Homemade Pop-Tarts
Get the Recipe:

The recipe calls for just 6 ingredients: strawberry preserves, uncooked pie crusts, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, milk, and, of course, sprinkles! If youre not a fan of strawberry Pop-Tarts, you can substitute your favorite fruit preserves for the pastry filling.

Lets get started! While the oven preheats, spread out the pie crusts and cut each into two even rectangles. Unless you decide to double (or triple) the recipe, you should have eight rectangles in total. Next, spread about one tablespoon of fruit preserves onto four of the dough rectangles and top with the remaining dough rectangle. To prevent the preserves from seeping out while baking, use a fork to crimp the edges and poke holes into the top of the pastries. Bake the pastries for 8 to 10 minutes. While they bake, you can prepare the icing by combining the milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Once the pastries have cooled, drizzle them with icing, top them with sprinkles, and enjoy!
