I Helped Injured Koalas

Romy lives in Australia and she loves her country. Australia recently experienced one of the worst bushfires recorded, and it was very difficult for Romy to learn about. When she first turned on the news and found out what was happening, Romy was heartbroken, shocked and distraught. She couldn't believe that her beautiful country was burning in front of her eyes.

After scrolling through her phone on social media, Romy was even more devastated when she saw thousands of photos of suffering animals during the fires. At that moment, Romy knew she had to do something to help.

Romy went to school and came up with a plan with her craft teacher. She invited all of the students to join her in making blankets and pouches for animals in need. After the bushfires, when they were exposed to incredibly high temperatures, the animals needed blankets to warm their bodies. The pouches also helped to make the baby animals feel comfortable and loved - especially the animals that tragically lost their mothers.

Romy and her classmates want to make over 200 pouches and blankets for the animals and, so far, it has been amazing. Romy can hardly believe how many students are willing to help out with the cause, and Romy feels really confident that they will reach their goal. While Romy is proud to say to herself, "I helped animals during the Australian bushfires," she wants to remind everyone that Australia is still in need of love, donations and support.
