George Porter gave the 1976 Christmas Lectures "The Natural History Of A Sunbeam" about the power of light, from the role it plays in stimulating life to supplying energy to our homes.

The fifth lecture "Making Light Work", where this clip is from, sees George taking the audience through the laws of thermodynamics with a series of demos which explain how they work in real-life settings.
