Description

A chemical known as BPA, found in many of the worlds food and drink cans, has been linked to cancer and other health problems, and its now banned in several countries. Researchers at the paint and coatings company Sherwin-Williams have now developed a chemical that, based on lab tests, they believe is safer than BPA. Its called TMBPF, and the company has worked with independent scientists to minimize controversy around the chemicals impact. The company already sells the new lining for cans, but a question lingers: Will its high price, about twice BPAs, preclude the chemical from widespread adoption?

Editor's Note: A previous version of this video stated that TMBPF itself is branded as V70. That statement has since been clarified to indicate that V70 is a TMBPF-based can coating.
