This 360 animation depicts planet WASP-121b; an exoplanet with an atmosphere of glowing water. It completes one full journey around its star every 1.3 days - this animation shows this orbit at x5000 speed.

With an atmosphere hot enough to boil iron, WASP-121b is a type of exoplanet known as a 'hot Jupiter'. The planet orbits closely to it's host star, located in the constellation of 'Puppis', about 900 light years away from Earth. Find out more about this exoplanet here:

Later this year, We The Curious will be releasing a full-length 360 video exploring six different exoplanets as you've never seen them before. Featuring accounts from the scientists who study these alien worlds, you will get to experience what it might be like to stand on the surface of a planet beyond our solar system.

This animation was created by Engine House VFX in collaboration with Dr Nathan Mayne and Dr Tom Evans from the Astrophysics Research Group at the University of Exeter, and At-Bristol Science Centre.

We The Curious is an idea and a place for everyone. Were all about asking questions, being playful and testing things out. An educational charity that removes boundaries around science - connecting art, people, everything, in a united culture of curiosity.
