Happy Shark Week! Shark teeth are among the most common vertebrate fossils you can find, and yet fossilized shark skeletons are harder to come by. Paleontologist and Curator Emeritus John Maisey explains how sharks' cartilaginous skeletons differ from those of bony fish, and why it's so hard to find complete skeletons in the fossil record.
