Declaration of Independence question

Question

What is your favorite part of the Declaration of Independence?

I have 2 favorites:

1. We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they and are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

2. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our Sacred Honor.

This is my favorite part as well.

I love the phrase, "we hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal". I just wish it included women!

t doesn't though.... At that time it wasn't proper for a women to even speak in public....

Keep it mind many people back then were Christians who took things to the extreme sometimes. In the Bible, Paul says that it is not right for a woman to pastor a church. This was not a sexist statement, it was what God had said. God created woman to be a helpmeet to the man. I don't think Paul was saying women could not speak in public, they just could not be considered the Pastor of a church. Christians at that time though went a little overboard with it.
