horses don't bark because zebras are closer related to donkeys than horses and that makes them make noises more like a bark + a horse neighs because it's ancestors made a noise just like a neigh but in a lower tone. Horses neigh to each other because they see it as a way of identifying them selfs. Horses make lots of different noises including squeals, high pitched bark sort of noises,winnies, and neighs. So horses do sort of bark because I have heard my pony nudge make a bark noise. So hopefully this answered your question!!
