Chapter 3
Mrs. Boston taught me about putting dialogue in different paragraphs today and capitalizing.
"But that's useless," I told her.
"It's proper grammer," Boston said. But just as she said it, the bell for homeroom rang loud and clear.
I went into the classroom to see three people beside Brandon. "These are Blaire, Maria, and Lilly." I smiled at them as two guys shuffled up behind Lilly. "And these are Devin and Adam," Brandon finished, patting Adam's shoulder.
Blaire had long blond hair and large green eyes, with a back brace and crutches. She smiled with brilliant pearly whites. Maria had thick wavy black tresses that I envied but was normal, supporting Lilly with her arm. Lilly had large pale eyes and her face was haywire, her eyebrows high above her blue eyes, her cheeks sullen and sunken. Devin had a metal arm, and Adam was autistic*. He had a computer and pressed a button that said "hi".
" Hi," I said back.
"What's your disability?" asked Lilly. She was the type of girl to say what ever was on her mind at the time.
I cringed. "I was once mentally immature, I am still, but..." I slowly lifted my pant leg to reveal a thin, small leg. Now I've told you... "Imma get a prosthetic leg soon..."
Devin looked at me. "It ain't that bad," he said.
I've got to stop here. I just heard a gunshot outside the class window. And now the school's on lockdown. I'll tell you what happened if we survive, which is 75% likely. See you tomorrow.
