How do I stop messing with the cat?

I cannot stop messing with the cat! My mom keeps telling me stop messing with the cat. I keep on getting scratches. Please help!!

Think about what you are going to get from what you do. Is this cat yours? Train him to not hurt u. If he isn't your cat, then don't mess with him.
