I had a dream I was at a place I didn't recognize at a party. I walked over to a table my mom was at. Something didn't seem right.I took a book from my bag and (in my dream) almost fainted. I could not read the cover. I even thought It's even changing every time I look back at what I read. (That was the first time I had an actual thought in my dream.) I then realized I was dreaming and asked "Am I dreaming?". All of the sudden I am in my bed with an iPad. I searched "How to wake up" (I could actually read it) but there were no good results. I then actually felt worried and frustrated (in my dream)! I then pressed the home button and noticed an app called hotels (I could read that too). I scrolled through the pages and pages of apps but I couldn't find anything. That whole time I was trying to wake up. When I did, my heart was beating really fast.

What does lucid mean?

Lucid dreaming means you realize you're dreaming but instead of waking up (though you can wake up if you wanted), you can either watch it and actually be conscious and able to think, or some people can actually change it into whatever they want. They can choose what they do, change their surroundings, "add" people to the dream, and if they get really good, even control others in the dream. But I wouldn't try to do it. It can lead to more lucid dreams, which can cause sleep problems like trouble falling asleep, trouble waking up, and even sleep paralysis.

Sleep paralysis is a condition where you wake up in a mixed state of REM sleep and wakefulness. You are unable to move and it can be hard to breathe. You can experience auditory and visual hallucinations. They're almost always scary things like monsters, aliens, and people trying to either kidnap you or kill you. It only lasts a few seconds to a minute for it to wear off, and it isn't harmful, but it can be really frightening.
