Multiple pieces of evidence and fossils are from around the world of animals and creatures we could not define in real life but seem related or after studying are all traced back to one another.
Evolution is essentially nature evolving to overcome or adapt to an environment to aid in survival. This explains why a long, long time ago, some creatures decided to leave the ocean and would hang out on land for short periods of time. These creatures began adapting to the environment on land and were slowly getting legs.
It sounds preposterous but evolution happens over millions of years, it doesn’t just happen all at once. So everything should continue to evolve, we just won’t know unless we can become a billion years old.
Whales are a really good example- they have small, useless hip bones. Why would whales need hip bones if they don’t have legs? It happens to be because whales began to live on land for millions of years and then left land about 50 million years ago for debated reasons but nonetheless when those hip bones became useless as they began to live in water and so were legs, and they began to shrink. In a few million years whales may not have hip bones anymore.
Here’s a chart if you’re interested:

These old bones are called a vestigial bones, meaning a bone that has lost it’s original function over revolutionary time. You have one in your body right now- your tailbone. You can actually feel your tailbone but I’m not going to walk you through that as it is gross. The tailbone is a vestigial remnant of what was once your tail.
Wisdom teeth are also another example- humans began to evolve a smaller jaw as society progressed towards eating softer, cooked foods and as such the need for extra teeth declined. This is why some people don’t have any wisdom teeth but some people will get all four, but back then when teeth would rot out everyone would need them. Technically speaking, they can still have a function, but nowadays a useless one.
Humans also used to be incredibly hairy and now we barely have any visible hair at all compared to our ancestors. Aside from that some people are born with tails, which is rare but it does happen due to some genetic factors. I don’t feel like explaining further so here’s what Britannica has to say: https://www.britannica.com/science/human-evolution
Also, saying we came from monkeys is kind of a stretch. We didn’t evolve from monkeys, we just share a common ancestor, which lived between 8 and 6 million years ago.
Humans will continue to evolve and some theorize we will be taller and thinner in build but obviously not every theory will come true so in few billion years, if not more, those future generations will be able to decide whether or not they evolved, but obviously none of us will be there. Plus, there are many different futures humans could head into, and one of them will have to play out.
I believe in evolution not solely because I’ve been taught it’s right all my life, but I will admit that is a part of it. It makes sense. It brings me joy to learn about the histories and the discoveries, seeing the milestones we make, each one bringing more sense into everything. We group lizards and snakes together as reptiles and thats what I was taught as a child and now I know it’s because they share a common ancestor! That common ancestor explains why they share similar features as well. But, of course, no matter the amount of evidence, people will always nitpick at whether it’s true or not, and it’s not like I’m going to try too hard to prove much if it doesn’t look like you’re ever gonna believe it, it’s fine if you don’t, but it is true.
I didn’t reach as many good points I could have, so if you wanna learn more I suggest you do some research especially on some trustworthy sites instead of Wikipedia.
