Silens I Chapter 37
I woke up when the carriage made a sudden stop in midair. From where I was resting, against Lucas, I couldn't see outside very well. I quietly got up and walked towards the opening. Hazyl was driving this carriage. "What's wrong?" I asked sleepily.
"We're under attack!" she hissed. "Stay inside."
"Wha-"
"Stay inside!" Willow hissed from the other carriage right beside us, so I ducked back inside. A huge noise drowned out my thoughts and the other two woke up with a jolt. With wide eyes, Tom looked about and I motioned for him to stay back. Quietly, I opened up the curtains around the exit.
About 7 former Death Eaters were surrounding the carriage, blending in with the night sky. Hazyl and Willow, who were the drivers, stood up on their podiums overlooking the bone thin black horses and pulled out their wands.
One of the Death Eaters yelled an incantation, and it set Willow's reins on fire. Quickly, Hazyl put it out as Willow shouted an spell of her own. Then, like a well-oiled machine, they started using spells in unison, and after a few, most of the Death Eaters had fallen or retreated. Only one remained, and he kept on taunting them as they missed.
"Anger dulls the blade," he said maliciously.
With a flick of my wand, I cast a spell that caught him in the back. I ducked in before I could see if it worked, but from a scream that kept getting quieter, I knew he had fallen into the city below. I sighed, and after a few minutes, the carriages started moving again.
A couple of months passed with basically the same things happening. We had managed to stay in our India safe house for longer than expected, and that's where we were on our birthdays. I had turned 15, and Tom and Lucas had turned 16. Willow and Hazyl had turned 15 in June, and Wren had just hit her 30 year mark, believe it or not. Toby turned 16 in September.
I had noticed some changes in Tom over the past months. He seemed to be talking to Willow more, for one. I had theories. I wondered when they would start "dating", if you could date while on the run. cuz Lucas and I weren't really able to date. Toby seemed increasingly jealous and tried to talk to Hazyl, who brushed him off coldly.
One day after lunch I saw Willow and Tom hanging out and had half a mind to comment on it, but decided not to.
