“Happy Birthday,Jimmy!” I heard my family cry. This was my last day here at my hometown,so all my uncles, aunts, and grandparents were here too. My 13 year old sister hugged me so tight that I cannot help but laugh and cry at the same time. “A T-shirt just for you,Jim. I know you love it,”said Uncle Arthur. He was right. I loved to collect T-shirts,even if it wasn’t my size.
Later,I thanked my relatives for coming. My cousin Ellis, who was only 4,jumped up and down when she waved goodbye to me. This made me smile and laugh. Where is Gina? Why didn’t she come? I suddenly thought. I felt shaky and nervous now. Gina usually came to my parties. After all,she was my girlfriend.
A day later, I hopped into my Jeep as I drove away with the toolbox Gabe gave to me. I decided that I had to drive to Gina’s to pick her up. “Haven’t you heard? He must be so devastated!” the street folks said. I must admit, I loved gossip. Parking my car to the nearest store,I whispered to the crowd. “What? Who?” I say. The people stared at me. “Your girlfriend,Jim. She’s gone. She was murdered.” said one.
Now I was yelling. “WHAT?! OH MY GOSH!” A man with dark brown hair stepped up. “A lumberjack picked up a small tree, and hit her with it. Then she...she...”
I couldn’t take it anymore. I knew who that lumberjack was.
