I’ve noticed people who had profile pictures, but I don’t know how to get one for myself. Do I have to earn points for that?

Welcome to KidzTalk! Yes, you need at least 5,000 points to add a profile picture/avatar to a registered account. The KidzTalk FAQ explains it in more detail.
