It was supposed to be a peaceful, quiet library day. You know—reading, silence, soft breathing, maybe a sneeze here or there, and one very squeaky swivel chair that everyone pretended to ignore.

But that dream shattered the second Nolan strutted in.

He marched up to the group table, slammed his backpack down like he was entering a wrestling match, and announced in the most dramatic whisper ever:

“Ladies and gentlemen… I have arrived. With the snack of champions.”

Everyone stared.

With a flourish, Nolan unzipped his backpack—and pulled out a TUB. Not a container. Not a bag. A full-on, industrial-sized, glow-in-the-dark-orange, family-meant-to-last-until-next-year tub of cheese balls.

“Bro,” Priya whispered like she was begging for mercy, “this is a LIBRARY.”

Nolan smirked. “Not anymore.”

He popped the lid off with a sound so loud and violent it echoed like a thunderclap in the sacred silence of the library. Every head turned. Books were lowered. A dude in the corner gasped.

Nolan whispered to Ava, “Cheese ball?” and tilted the tub like it was treasure.

She reached in.

And sneezed.

Directly into the tub.

“NOOOOOOOOOOO!” Nolan shrieked like a knight watching his castle fall.

The sneeze must’ve awakened the spirits of snack chaos because suddenly—cheese balls ERUPTED.

They flew through the air in glorious, greasy arcs—bouncing off shelves, rolling under tables, bonking unsuspecting heads. One flew so perfectly it landed on Mrs. Holcroft the librarian’s desk like it was delivering a message.

She slowly stood, picked it up between her fingers like it was radioactive, and asked in the most librarian voice ever:
“Who. Threw. This?”

Nolan, glowing in a fine layer of cheese dust like a warrior who had lost the snack battle, stood up dramatically.

“It was me,” he said. “And I’d do it again.”

He was immediately, permanently banned from bringing snacks into the library. The cheese ball tub was taken away. Some say it was never seen again. Others believe it's locked in a vault next to the school laminator.

Now, anytime someone even mentions cheese balls, people go quiet.
Because they remember.

They remember… The Great Cheddar Catastrophe.
