So, recently, especially at my dad’s house, when I take a shower, I get oddly scared. I’m facing towards the water, and I feel like there’s something behind me. I know there’s nothing, though. There’s this small mirror on the back wall of the shower, and I tell myself it’s just me, nothing to be afraid of. Also, for context, I am AFAB (assigned female at birth) and I have gender dysphoria. Today I realized, maybe this fear is something to do with the gender dysphoria. I think my subconscious turned it into a monster. I tried drawing the monster that I had been scared of (I know it’s childish to be afraid of some monster but whatever) and it’s head almost resembled the back of my hair when it’s wet. Then I realized that with the mirror behind me, it would reflect the back of my head and that would make sense with the monster. Idk. Also, the shower cap I use at my dad’s house is black and the monster was solid black. Idk if this makes any sense to you.

Also, in case you are wondering, I haven’t hallucinated it at all, there’s just this image in my mind of what this monster my subconscious made up that I think is based off of my gender dysphoria looks like.

This is some stuff that is going on with my dad today and in the past..

1: In the morning, he thought I was sneaking last night with my iPad, (because I did last week) BUT I DIDN’T!! I WAS TRYING TO GO TO SLEEP!!

2: Just because I wasn’t paying attention to what he was saying one time at dinner, he said “If you won’t listen to me, I won’t listen to you.” And I don’t want that! I just was paying attention to eating!

3: So in the past. When I was trying to understand what he meant one time, he told me to go upstairs and I heard him say Idiot. And then I started to cry because I knew that he was saying that I was an idiot. When he came upstairs a few mins ago saying why are you crying? It was because of what he said and then he said “Just get over it.” It REALLY HURT my feelings

4: He always yells at me because I don’t understand stuff and also when I don’t pay attention to what he says, he says that he’s talking to a wall. (I’m the wall)

5: He doesn’t listen to what I say too.

What should I do? I live in his house!

I don’t want to get yelled at the whole year!

I am scared of my dad he's always passive-aggressive / physically abusive. I get so much anxiety when he's near me. I don't know what to do and my mom does not care either, I've tried CPS and they've done nothing about the situation. I came to my friend's house and we hung out until 9 pm my dad knocked on the door so I answered and he was so aggressive towards me and my friend noticed it. I'm so scared. My mom treats me the same way she threatens me and it's getting worse and worse.

Atychiphobia is the extreme fear of failure.

And when I say it, I mean I have it hard.

I am scared of growing up and being a failure. For example, I want to go to a college for performing arts. However, I am scared I might be a high school drop-out.

I am also scared of not being good enough to present myself. I love acting and I've known that for years. But I'm scared that I won't be able to get into tv shows or plays.

so, hm, this is the first time I go in here for I while but I had a pretty terrible week and I kind of need to vent? I don’t know if this is the correct word

So, everything started yesterday, when I got into a fight with two of my friends. We were doing a math exercise and I gave them a solution, they told me it was incorrect and then I explained again, but I’m REALLY short tempered and was trying to keep it all together and don’t freak out and be rude, but I ended up talking louder. One of them answered “you are the smartest in the room, aren’t you” but kind of rude, you know? It made me very angry so I turned again to not argue with her. I just tried to keep on with the day. I tried to, again, ask them a question, which she answered again in a rude tone. I just said “no, yeah, cool, okay then” and turned it again. I apologized for being rude and she apologized too.

For a bit of context: in my country, we have this yearly party that happens in June. It celebrates the countryside culture and we dance tradicional songs and eat tradicional foods. It is a pretty fun party. We have little games and if you win them, you get some cool toys. My school had this competition that the class that gather the biggest amount of toys would win this free breakfast with cake and other cool things.

But some people in my class did not cooperate and we lost.

So, because my class had to manage one of the games, I (the vice class president, who ends up doing more then the class president himself) texted my class warning that one of the people that didn’t bring toys would need to go Friday to school to get everything set up for the party. 20 people saw the text, and no one answered me. Another girl had to text them to warn the same thing I texted before, and they answered her in 2 minutes.

It was enough for me. I left the school group chat and will quit my charge next Tuesday, when the teacher responsible for the class will show up. I cried yesterday and today. I hate school. I used to love it now I hate it.

I also went to the doctor and she told my mom I might have ADHD. My dad has it too, and he said that I didn’t have because I didn’t had the symptoms. The thing is, I have those, every one that he mentioned. I don’t know how to tell him, but I’m going to start therapy and it will be the therapist that will decide.

It was kind of a bummer because if I really have ADHD, I don’t know how to “think” like other people. My mom told me to just focus, but I can’t. It’s like whenever I try to, it is useless. I don’t know if I have this thing, but if I do, it sucks.

Anyways, it is kind of a vent? Kind of a “I hate school” thing? Kind of “none of my classmates respect me” or “my friends think I’m stupid”? I don’t know.

I was in the kitchen with my dad and I started talking about LGBTQ+ and Transgender rights (im genderfluid, aromantic, and omnisexual), and he started accusing me of only being LGBTQ+ because I was "watching other people talking about it and that I wouldn't worry about that because im a minor". What he basically said is that I was influenced to be gay and just " hopped on a trend" (being LGBTQ+ is NOT a trend). And I also asked him for a binder a few months ago and he kept brushing it off and ignoring it.

I also brought up the idea of genderfluid/non binary/genderless bathing suits, since summer is coming up in my country and all my other bathing suits are bikinis, which I don't really feel comfortable in. He went dead silent and continued staring at his phone, which made me feel so left out and unheard. I know he wants to love and accept me openly but he doesn't know how.

He said he accepts me, but he treats my sexuality and gender identity like it isnt important. Im 12, and he acts like im unable to know what I identify as at this age. I just wish I could freely talk to him about it, but every convo I have about it ends with us yelling at each other and me crying in the bathroom later on.

I dislike my mom, and my grandparents live in Canada so I can't talk to them. My dad is my only other option but I barely see him since my parents are divorced. Don't get me wrong, my dad is such an amazing person and I love him so much, but sometimes its hard. He does everything to make sure me and my siblings are happy, but I hate when he acts like this. During our argument today, he ended it by saying "just know that ill always love you and you'll always be my daughter", to which I responded " daughter? How long until I stop being someone's daughter? I hate being like this, im always someone's daughter. Do you think I want to be a daughter, or a girl, or a woman? Am I nothing else?". He paused before saying "you're my child then" and walked away.

I guess im just trying to say that I wish every conversation we had didnt go like this and that I could speak openly with him. I see other parents and their kids and I get so jealous. I suffer from teenage depression and I wish I could openly discuss it with my dad and that he'd listen and not just say im being influence by someone else. Most of the people in my life, like ex-lovers, ex-friends, and even my own mother have told me so many things that make me feel like everything I think or do is just another overreaction. My dad thinks im overreacting, and when I started talking about all the anti-lgbtq things that have been happening in my country, he just asked why I cared so much since it "didn't affect me" and that I was getting to riled up and that I was overreacting.

Anyone else relate? Im sorry if this sounds rushed or poorly worded, I'm having a really bad day.

I’m 15 and I’ve been afraid of my dad for a couple of years, I’m afraid he’ll find out I’m a lesbian and that I’m on social media talking to people I don’t know. I’ve never given out my real name, or stuff like that, I’ve only ever given out my age, that’s it. The people I talk to are also around my age, 15-18, and I barely ever even talk to them. And it’s not even like I’m trying to be in a relationship, I just want people to talk to. I’ve been homeschooled for a few years so I don’t have a choice, what else am I meant to do if I want to make friends. I'm also afraid that he’ll find out I talk to my friend who I’ve known for over 10 years, this friend told me what being gay meant, and he has always seen them as a bad influence. I’m tired of being lonely. I’m tired of being scared all the time. I don’t know what to do.

He doesn’t hit me, but he’s.. scary. Not intimidating, it’s to the point that I fear when I hear footsteps or people coming up the stairs.

He pounds on my door when I take too long to get dressed or sleep in.

I get annoyed and even scared when I have to go home when he’s the only one there. He scares me.

My mom is super nice, but it seems that to her the only way for me to be scared of him is if he hits me. She even works in Youth Mental Health.

Is it my anxiety and paranoia making everything worse?

I’m too scared to tell anyone because then they’ll tell my dad and he’ll get mad and say that he never did that or that he’s sorry, but then he just does it again.

I think I might be beyond scared.. I’m terrified of him. But I can’t leave. If I leave then he might get mad at my sister, and I need her to be safe. He doesn’t scare her, he’s nice to her. I need to keep it that way.

I can’t talk to anyone and I can’t talk to him. What do I do? Please help
