Okay, so for English class, we were told to make a comic that's one page. I drew FOUR (Because I love drawing comics) And I asked the teacher if I could get some extra credit. (Keep in mind that almost everyone in the class had trouble drawing ONE page, and I drew FOUR. And it was extremely detailed too.) So anyways, the teacher said "Yeah, sure, you could get extra credit."

"Well, what's not fair about that?" You may ask.

THE TEACHER GAVE ME ONE POINT OF EXTRA CREDIT. For FOUR comic pages instead of one, when EVERYONE ELSE DID HALF A PAGE. I might be biased, but I seriously think that I deserved more extra credit than that. I don't know, what do you guys think?

The Picnic [TRUE STORY]

one day me and my friend group were joking around on the bus and I brought up that we should have a picnic and was joking but then two of my friends started agreeing with me and insisted that we should actually have a picnic and I looked at my other friend and we just shook our heads like, why not? Then when I got home I got everything ready like snacks and soda and I biked over to the park where I met my friends and It was super fun we were all taking turns making this one friend spit out his soda by making him laugh after we ate we played at the park and just biked around the neighborhood and slowly some friends had to leave and go home until it was just me and one other friend hanging out at his house and eventually I went home. probably one of my top 10 best days ever.

my story was too long for a book fair, is it a good story?

this is a story I wrote last year for a writing fair, but I couldn't enter it because it was too long, what do you guys think?

My mistake…

Book 1

(All characters and events in this story are from my imagination and not real, if something similar happened then it is purely coincidental!!!)
Chapter 1: The Build up to My Mistake

“Has anyone seen Jack, he is not here today?” My heart sank when I heard that, No one pays attention because it is pretty normal for a kid or 2 to miss school, but not Jack and when I noticed that he was not here it was confirmed, I made an irreversible mistake…a mistake that I will regret forever now.

In order for you to understand I will need to go back a few days prior for you to understand the mistake I made. It was 3 days ago and school was just starting up from summer break. The time? It was 6 AM and my alarm was going off.

*beep beep beep * “ugh” I knew that sound all too well, my alarm telling me it was time for school. I turn off my alarm and tiredly get out of bed to get dressed. After I finish I head downstairs, grab my bag, and head out to wait at the bus stop.

“Hey what about breakfast?” I hear my mom call out.

“SORRY CAN'T TODAY THE BUS IS NEARBY!”I holler as I open the door.

“But it is the first day of school, but if you don’t want it then fine just be safe, bye!” I hear her holler back as I leave

“Hey hunter!” I turn around and see Jack, my best friend. Jack runs up to me while waving, “Wait up!”

I stop at the assigned bus stop and Jack catches up to me, “Hey dude I told you to wait up! Why didn’t you?” he said while crouching with his hands on his knees trying to catch his breath.

“Because I knew you would catch up, how do you have so much energy on a Friday anyways." I told him.

“Because tomorrow is the weekend, duh” The bus turns the corner and starts to pull up.

“Well Mr. Energy hurry up, if I were you I would grab your bags right now so that way you don’t forget anything.” As Jack gathers his stuff the bus pulls up and opens its doors.

“Come on dude” I say while I step onto the bus.

“Alright alright” he said, stepping on right after me.

I am sitting in the back of the bus with Jack in the seat across the aisle from me and before I know it he is trying to get my attention. “Pssst Hunter” he said while whispering to me.

“What do you want?” Jack grabs his phone and shows a picture of a pile of fireworks.

“I bought these yesterday! They may be a tad dangerous, BUT they are really cool. I was wondering if you want to shoot them off with me later?”

I shake my head “Dude are you insane?! That is a crazy and reckless idea! Maybe I would if I had no common sense!” I yell at him.

“Fine dude you are no longer invited I will just go and shoot them off myself.” Jack replied while turning off his phone.

The bus ride to school was silent…well for us two anyways.

Chapter 2: I have regrets…

Hi it is me again…well present me, all I have to say is that…I have regrets why? Well you know how I told you what Jack’s plan was? Well, let's just say that he does not know how to listen… the time this chapter will take is the weekend after this discussion at nightfall…

Since Jack lives a few houses over I could see him and some of his other friends- Tom, Chris, and sam- he invited starting to walk off towards a disclosed area away from the neighborhood so that they don’t disturb anyone, or in their case don’t get caught with illegal fireworks, earlier in the day.

At around 11:00 PM I looked at my phone, “he and his friends should be back by now…they must have a lot…”

The next day I stopped by Jack’s house to ask him if they were ok since the fireworks were dangerous to begin with but when I asked his mom.

“Sorry, but Jack has not come back home yet, but I assume he is over at a friend’s house, but I can leave him a message.”

“No no that is fine I will just ask him tomorrow at school.” I assumed he told his mom, but I guess not.

The next day at school I noticed Jack did not ride the school bus, but I assumed that he must have gotten his mom to take him cause that does happen from time to time. And as I walk into class I don’t see him. He must be running late… eh he does have 30 minutes left I think while taking a seat. But that 30 minutes turns into 20, then 10, then 5, but there is still no sign of him…

“Has anyone seen Jack, he is not here today?”...

As the school day goes on I noticed 3 other students have not shown up today for school, and those 3 students? Tom, Chris, and Sam… I had a bad feeling about this…a really bad feeling about all of this.

That day after school ended I decided to head over to the area they were 2 nights ago, but when I got there some smoke was over the tree lines along with firetrucks, police officers, and police tape. I knew it, I knew something bad had happened, but not this…not something this bad…

I notice a police officer and I walk over to him, “Excuse me officer, do you mind telling me what happened here?” I asked him, but I could tell it was indeed something bad, just by the looks on his face.

“There was an explosion here two nights ago, and we don’t know what the cause was, and we don’t know if there were any casualties.”

When I heard that, I knew something really bad happened…”I-I think I know what happened officer…”

I told the officer everything I knew from Jack’s idea to the night of the incident, and when I finished he walked over to the captain and he tried to whisper, but I still heard him, “tell the families…3 kids” When I heard that I thought that I was just hearing things…well that is what I wanted to believe, but deep down I knew that they were indeed gone. I regret that…I didn’t try harder to stop them, I regret that I didn’t go with them, I regret everything that I did wrong that day…the day of the incident, the day that I lost my three friends.

CHAPTER 3: Am I dreaming???

It was the day after I found out what happened and all I hear is my alarm going off. “I am not in the mood…” I say weakly towards the alarm, but then I hear my mother call up from downstairs.

“HUNTER GET UP NOW YOU DON”T WANT TO BE LATE FOR YOUR FIRST DAY BACK TO SCHOOL!”

I get out of bed confused as I head downstairs, “What do you mean it is Tuesday of the second week, so I ha—” I got interrupted by the news on the TV.

“Hi and good morning citizens of Beaverton! Today is Friday, August 8th! So to all of you students out there I hope you all have a great first day of school–” My eyes widen, did I hear him right? I quickly run back upstairs and check my phone and confirm it, right there on the screen it read, Friday, August 8th, 2024 6:10 AM,

“H-how…how is this possible…” I asked myself. This has to be a dream…right, RIGHT?! I thought to myself. I take a deep breath to calm myself, “There is only one thing to do…”

I grab my stuff and head out the door, “Bye mom see you later!” I holler as I head out, but then I see the person that I needed to in order to confirm if this was real…Jack.

“Hey Hunter this is new, usually I have to catch up to you!” Jack said as he waved.

“Yeah guess it is” I say with a slight chuckle.

“Come on dude or we are gonna miss the bus” I tell him as I start walking and he quickly catches up, when we arrive we see the bus rounding the corner. This is my chance to fix things…to set things right… I thought to myself as the pus pulled up.

We get on the bus and sit in our usual seats, “psst, Hunter…” Jack tries to get my attention, but I already know what he wants so I decide to play along.

“What do you want, Jack?” I ask. He then proceeds to pull out his phone and show me the same picture as before.

“I got these new fireworks that are really dangerous, so they are illegal. You wanna shoot them off later?” My eyes widened remembering the picture from the other day, well for me at least. Last time I decided to not go and that caused him and those three other people to die so maybe…

“Yeah sure you only live once after all…” I tell him basically lying through my teeth.

That following weekend we decided to head out, “so dude how much farther?” I ask him while we walk through an area dense with trees.

“not that far, trust me.” Jack says with a chuckle, but I still am nervous, but before I can say anything we enter an opening in the forest.

CHAPTER 4: WRONG DECISION

Have you ever felt the heat from an open flame or candle and thought, “Man this is nice” well that thought did not go through my head…never…

As we enter the clearing Tom, Chris, and Sam run ahead of us and Jack runs off to catch up to them. “Hey guys wait up!” I holler as I struggle to catch up.

“Come on dude or you are gonna miss it!” I hear Jack holler back as he continues running.

We go to the center of the opening and I can already see Jack, Sam, Chris, and Tom setting them up, “dang that is way more than I expected…” I say as I see the giant stash of fireworks.

“Of course it is, when I go for something I go all out!” Jack says proudly.

“Is that why all your grades were so bad last year?!” I hear Tom say and everyone starts chuckling, including me.

“Shut up” I hear Jack say, sounding upset. Everyone dials down their chuckles and starts piling up the fireworks into a pile.

“Hey that is really dangerous, you should not pile them all up onto each other like that what if a spark were to-”

“Relax dude, you don’t have to worry about stuff like this, ok?” Jack said while interrupting me. I looked at him as if he were crazy. So this is how the explosion started… I thought to myself as they continued staking the fireworks.

“But what if something happens, like I don’t know, an explosion?!” I tell him with sarcasm in my voice, although I don’t really know if this is the time for it. But he looks at me and he makes it look like he could hear the worry in my voice, and just when I thought I got through to him…

“Nah dude we are gonna pile them up.” Jack replies as he continues to pile them up.

“Come on, think about it…how dangerous this can be!” I say now, raising my voice higher, now covered with a sheet of worry.

“Dude you have to learn to live a little, live life to the fullest! On the dangerside if you will!” My eyes widen as I notice that Jack lights the fuse…

“NO DON-” BOOM And just like that it was over… a giant fireball consumed us all…

Chapter 5: repeat

BEEP BEEP BEEP Wait a minute . . . I knew that sound all too well… I open my eyes and look around, I notice my alarm clock on my bedside and I press it.

“HUNTER GET UP NOW YOU DON”T WANT TO BE LATE FOR YOUR FIRST DAY BACK TO SCHOOL!” I heard my mom call from downstairs. But how? I mean I surely died…right? So how am I back? What does this mean? Did I… no, do I have another chance? “HUNTER I AM NOT GONNA ASK AGAIN COME DOWN NOW!” I hear my mom call now sounding angry.

“Ok mom, I am coming!” After I get dressed I rush down the stairs and look at the Tv, just in time to catch the date, and there it was… August 8 but something was different…the year. Instead of August 8, 2024 It was 2023. What happened, what was so different this time…why a year?

“HUNTER! Stop watching Tv and start going before you miss the bus!” My mom said as she turned off the Tv.

“Okay I’m going, I'm going” I say as I walk out. This doesn't make sense but if I remember correctly… This was when I first met Jack…Is the world saying that we were supposed to never meet? If we do, is that how he dies? Are we just not supposed to be friends? But…why? Why can’t we be friends…why can’t we meet…? I had so many questions, but I didn't have time to ask them or to find the answer, for now I will just ignore him and try to avoid that disaster and try to be friends with him after the incident’s date…
