why are so many people hating on therians? like, we r doing absolutely nothing wrong. we r literally just living our lives how WE want to. people are always being hated on, barked at, death threats are blowing up every were, why? what did we ever do to you? there is nothing wrong with walking on 4-legs, nothing wrong with wearing masks and tails, nothing wrong with expressing our selves. people just hate because they don't know the truth,

but go ahead, try and prove me wrong, i would like to see u try.

The Problem With Therians on KidzTalk

***This isn't intended to actually call anyone out, just my perspective on the whole situation that's been ongoing. I think the therian haters are much worse, so I'm not even gonna try to reason with them. BTW, the title is oversensationalized like all my posts.

KidzTalk isn't the same as it once was. I feel like this place is turning into furry chat for kids, rather than Kidztalk. In fact, I think close to 70% of the site’s user base consists of furries and therians. I’ve been here for a while, and my main gripe isn’t with the community itself, but the fact that KidzTalk is losing nuance. I’d say the golden era for nuanced perspective on the platform was around 2022-2024.

Of course, the other extreme is also bad. When I was new, I remember arguing against the majority of users, who were defending the Confederacy / Slavery / George Floyd's killing. I got into fights all the time, and lost a lot of respect for crashing out on people like GemHeart, Luna, etc. I was actually one of the most liberal users here for years, which is kinda crazy considering how things are now. And by the way, I'm not advocating for the site to return to its original audience of ~60% conservative homeschoolers. I’m just trying to convey that polarization is bad.

These days, Therian haters are clearly in the minority, but I see a constant stream (every day at this point) of posts complaining about the one or two users who openly dislike them. This annoys me, because outrage posts just fuel the fire for haters (who also annoy me) and make the platform more polarized. But what’s worse is people being allergic to any sort of constructive criticism. I’d say half of the Therian community on KidzTalk constantly flags anything slightly critical to the movement, even if these opinions are not hateful. And KS mods seem to take valid criticism down a lot, which furthers my feeling that nuance is being lost on the platform.

Here are some of the criticisms I often give to the movement:

I just don't understand therianthropy, and don't think I ever will. While I don’t hate any group, I shouldn’t be forced to actively support a community.
Expect pushback when you claim to have "species dysmorphia", because most people also don't understand it. If you post on a public site, you should expect some debate (if done in good faith and not hating)
While each individual is unique and valid, Therians overwhelmingly tend to be Gen Alpha and Z kids who grew up constantly online and live in privileged Western countries. This isn’t really a criticism but more of an insight. I’ve actually heard some really great counterpoints!
When you enter the real world, how do you expect to keep a job if you're seen crawling on fours in public or at school?

Criticisms given to behavior on KidzTalk:

The massive trend of therians trying to meet up with kids is creepy. I think a lot of these people are adults with bad intentions who want to exploit lonely kids and members of your community.
A good chunk of this trend really is just lonely kids, but sharing your location and personal information is still disrespectful. It goes against the purpose of KidzTalk, wastes the mods time, and makes the community look bad.

By the way, just because I have this perspective, it’s not necessarily the truth for everyone, and I know that. When I share stuff like this, half of you are great. I’ve heard some great counterpoints and respectful arguments. It actually makes me feel GOOD to hear a solid counterargument. But the other half of you just seem to flag my answers, or opinions like mine.

This all goes to show that KidzTalk seems to be losing nuance. It’s not the fault of therians specifically, but it’s really never good if one group becomes the overwhelming majority. I’ve been getting sick of seeing the feed cluttered with posts about therians, so I recently answered a question and said that. I feel like the community is being invaded by so many therians to the point where it isn’t even KidzTalk anymore. This isn’t the opinion of someone who’s out to get therians, just a guy who’s been here a long time and has a different take than the mainstream. I shouldn’t have expressed this on a non-drama post, so I apologize. But someone told me to “sibau” today, and it made me think deeply about the polarization of the community, which ultimately prompted me to make this post. You might say I’m contributing to the oversaturation of this topic by making a post myself, but I’m trying to give a nuanced, respectful perspective from the other side. And that’s a rare thing. Of course, there are no real “sides”. We are all one KidzTalk.

Depression

Anxiety Attacks

Panic Attacks

High Anxiety Levels

and OCD

Mostly,from my year as a fresh year.Me and my friends are like the joke of our HighSchool.We've gotten laughed at,bullied,much more I really don't want to list,for younger kids' mental health.(yes...it's that bad)Only because we are I quote,'different' from the others.We've seen therapists,doctors and school counslers. We get bullied for being ourselves/therians,but no one is going to stop me from being who I am,of course :D I've moved schools,over and over,nothing ever changed.

I get into arguments with my mom (Yes.I have parent issues)and barely see my dad

I hate what's happening to this world,some 'friends' of mine are fake or homophobic...And this is the only place I really feel like saying this on,because you don't personally know me,so I wouldn't really care if you judged me.

MORE TRANS STUFF (theater addition)

otay so, if you didn't know I'm a transmasc. and so I not so recently started going by he/him pronouns as well as they/them etc. and so in theater we were supposed to write our bios abt the shows we've done, and we are supposed to write them in 3rd person. so for my bio I decided to be adventurous and I use he/him prns for my bio. and today my theater teacher goes up to me and says, "oh, I saw that you used he/him pronouns for you bio, would you like me to cast you for more male roles in the future?" *dies of emo boy transgender excitement*. SHE IS SO NICE! I was so in chock, couldnt even say anything back. I was just like, "maybe".

I haven’t commented on these types of answers because -cough- telling people they are wrong is apparently starting drama when other CERTAIN users would not start drama at all, -cough- but trust me, I want to.

Questioning being trans doesn’t mean that we are a bit ‘boyish’, so we want to be trans, no. We are trans because we feel we weren’t born the right gender. We aren’t trans because we go to the gym, so we don’t ’fit the stereotype’, or we play Fortnite, we are trans because we aren’t the right gender.

I don’t care what the answers say, I am standing by my answer.

We don’t want you to prove us wrong, we want you to stand by us and accept us.

Me and my best friend made a conjoined therian TikTok account around 10am today. it is 7:20pm. EVERY LAST COMMENT on those videos are hating. Over 2,000 views from people sharing it to laugh at us. I cried twice.

I don’t understand why people hate on us for no reason. We are just as human as anyone else.
