The difference between homophobia and not supporting lgbtq+

Homophobia is actively and physically hating on the LGBTQ+ community

For example in Iran, there are people being thrown off of rooftop buildings for being trans, gay, bisexual, etc.. This is homophobia

BUT not supporting, but being RESPECTFUL and treating people fairly is NOT homophobic against the LGBTQ+ community.

For example, I have aa friend who is lesbian. I do not make her feel left out or ashamed for how she feels. I do not go up to her and tell her that she is a terrible person or wrong.

This is not homophobia

See the difference?

Homophobia is also (according to the dictionary) a FEAR of people in the LGBTQ community

Signs of it are recognized as killing, abusing, and treating these people unfairly, and cruelly.

However, not supporting, but being respectful about it is different.

people who do not support but are respectful about it do NOT kill, abuse, or treat these people like animals/unfairly. instead, they are kind, respectful, and most importantly, they treat them like the people that they are

If this is hard to understand, sorry, but just bear with me.

So I wondered about dominant and recessive traits. I also wondered about the chances of gender. Sometimes I thought "wouldn't the whole world become one gender eventually?" and "will human become extinct because of our genders?" I did some (okay, okay, "some" is kind of an understatement) research, and what I found out was kinda cool, so I'm posting about it.

So most people think that whether someone's born as male or female has an equal chance. Like a coin flip, or even and odd numbers. But actually, it's kinda uneven.

First off... the "Boy Bias" is real, and I ain't be lyin'
Statistically, the world doesn't do a 50/50 split. About 105 boys are born for every 100 girls. Why (it took me so long to confirm this omg)? Some scientists think male ***** are "speed runners" (lighter and faster), while others think it’s nature’s way of "pre-gaming" for the fact that males are, well... historically a bit more fragile and likely to die younger.

Females are the default.
In the womb, we all start out on the same developa- develpa- developo? (how the freak di I spell or say it ) Okay, Google says "developmental which sounds kinda weird. Anyways— ...developmental path. It’s only if a specific gene called SRY (on the Y chromosome) kicks down the door that the body turns to male. Without that one tiny genetic "glitch," everyone would be female. Basically, men are just a highly specialized DLC.

Nature has the one we all hate... autocorrect (gosh, I hate autocorrect)
I was worried that women would eventually go extict to babies would never be born again so all of humanity would disappear forever. (was that too long?) But evolution has a built-in safety called Fisher’s Principle.

If women ever became rare, having a daughter would be like winning the genetic lottery. She’d have her pick of mates (oo her hubby) and tons of kids, spreading the "girl-making" genes until the population levels out again. Nature literally won't let us stay unbalanced for long.

The "Old Age" Flip.
While boys take the lead at birth, women win the long game. In the US (and somewhat globally), women start outnumbering men by age 47. By the time you reach 100 years old, there are roughly 3 women for every 1 man.

The Takeaway
Males might be "dominant" in the birth stats, but females are the biological foundation (and the ones who actually survive to see the end credits).

The message: Let's stop having boys wish girls never existed or girls wish boys never existed... 'kay, y'all?
The real message: We’re basically a giant game of The Sims where the "Delete All" button is disabled yippeeeee

On the other hand, if a human dies in a movie, eh. It depends how attached I get to the character. I will never stand by dogs dying in movies, though. It's just not sigma.

I’m really sorry guys. I love writing The Sisterhood, I love knowing that you read it, I love replying to my readers, but I can’t continue writing it. I just have too much schoolwork to do, and I’m so, so tired. I will still be active on here most days, if not every day, but writing a regular blog every few days is just too much work. I know I only got to write three posts (and admittedly they weren’t very good), but I will still post on these sort of topics, and I may bring the blog back when I’m less tired. For now The Sisterhood is sleeping, unless any of you readers want to pick up the baton and write the blog from now on (i know that’s not very likely).

Hope you enjoyed it while it lasted. Sorry.

Should I come out? Help!

I decided a while back that I don’t want to come out. I’m not scared, I don’t see why I have to make a whole announcement and a big fuss over something that is perfectly normal. Lately I’ve been having second thoughts. I would like to be publicly ‘out’ and I really want to make rainbow ‘gay cupcakes’ XD.

Here’s some background info...

I’m 11 so people will probably not take me seriously because of my age.
My parents are supportive of LGBT+, they’re not going to kick me out or anything.
My friends are supportive, they just might find it a bit hard to understand at first.
I’ve haven’t known my friends at school that long so it might be a bit soon to tell them something that personal (although they will be supportive).

I’d like to come out to people at school via TikTok as I’ve seen videos on YouTube of girls doing that, it looks really good. Problems are...

I object to TikTok for moral and ethical reasons
I don’t meet the age limit (13+)
I don’t have a smartphone (I don’t want one on a moral and ethical basis)
A lot of the girls at my school would never follow me because I’m not ‘popular’ enough.

It might be a good idea to do it with my friend because she has TikTok, she’ll be totally accepting etc. and she’ll enjoy the joke, but (sadly) she probably won’t let me post it on her account. If I come out via TikTok what song should I choose? I’ve heard of

‘this girl straight and this girl nah’
‘I like girls’ (the big boys itty-bitty boys one)
‘Once upon a time I liked to play with toys but now I like to play around with teenage girls’ (the hairspray one)
‘Girls wanna play with girls’

I’m trying to make sure my parents don’t find out just yet because even though I know they’ll be supportive, I’m terrified, I’m just not ready to tell them yet. (I don’t think they keep watch on my friends’ TikTok accounts but you never really know with parents XD...)

If I do decide to come out it will be ages away (because of Covid-19 and social distancing obvs).

So... should I come out? (Help!) Any answers are really appreciated, thank you!!

PS. No biphobia or ‘being gay is a sin’ comments please, I don’t want your hate.

I’m going to make a blog. I have an utterly huge notebook all about it packed with links, pictures, ideas etc, etc. I have read crazy amounts of articles about starting up a blog and I get emails every day from blogging websites etc., but I need help and advice with real people, one-on-one. Here’s a bit about it:

about fashion, photography and sustainability
retro-ish style, clean white lines etc.
weekly-ish posts
needs to be free to run
I don’t want money from it
prefer not to have to use social media (I’m not 13)
going to have a lot of pictures

Any help/advice/ideas from any of you (bloggers or not) would be really awesome. Thanks!

I’m from Northern Ireland (not a region of Ireland, it’s a country in the UK).

My hobbies are photography, fashion stuff, reading, dancing, acting and being on KT.
I’m bisexual.
I am atheist/agnostic-ish.
I have a little sister.
I am quite passionate about things I care about, which include the environment and the climate emergency, women’s rights, the LGBT+ community, politics etc.
I play clarinet and can speak some French (badly).
I like comics, my favourites are Calvin & Hobbes, Peanuts and Garfield. I love books like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and any other books that ever existed.
