Chapter Seven

Zella

My heart skips a beat. And the butterflies in my stomach are getting worse. I can’t stop blushing. She pulls away. “I-I am so sorry.” She says her face is turning redder than a tomato. “I wanted to tell you I liked you since the day I met you, but I didn’t know if you felt the same way. And I don’t know what I was thinking about kissing you, it just happened.” She tells me. “Amethyst, I have feelings for you too since the day the teacher introduced you to the classroom.” I tell her. We both sit there awkwardly staring at each other. “I’m going to go to sleep.” Amethyst tells me. “Okay.” I say. I pull the blanket over my head and fall asleep.

It’s been two weeks since Amethyst and I started dating. We told Rowan and he was very happy that he literally started bouncing on the walls. “SO ZELLATHYST OR AMELLA IS SAILING?” HE SQUEALED. “I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU TWO.”

I head to Amethyst’s house, a nervous wreck we were about to tell her mom that we were dating. “Are you sure we should tell?” I ask. She grabs both of my hands, her grey eyes staring at me. She kisses me. “Don’t worry it will be okay.” She says.

I walk inside her house. “Hello there Zella.” Her mom says washing the dishes. “Hi Ms.Imber.” I say nervously. “Please call me Nyx.” She tells me. “Okay Nyx.” I say. “Mom, we have something to announce.” Amethyst says. She takes a deep breath. “Me and Zella are dating.”

Chapter Five

Zella

“Okay we only have a few hours until Amethyst comes back and that means only a few hours to get the backyard looking good and romantic.” I tell Rowan. “I have made a list of the items we need. Candles, Roses, and fairy lights.” Rowan tells me. “We have a bunch of that stuff at our house.” I walk to the cabinet and grab the stuff and we begin to decorate the backyard. We put the fairy lights on where the patio is and sprinkle rose petals on the floor. We add candles on the table. I run upstairs to my room to grab my phone and get changed into a pretty dress. I put on a purple dress and put on Black heels. I was about to ask my crush out to prom and I was so excited. I texted Amethyst to come over around six.

After a while it’s finally six. My heart pounded in my chest and I have uncontrollable blushing. I open the door and tell her to follow me outside.

“Woah Zella, your backyard is so pretty.” She exclaims. “Thanks anyways Amethyst there's been something I have been wanting to ask you for a while but haven't had the courage to.” I tell her. I take a deep breath. “Will you go to the dance with me?”

Lera and Phoid find Love

Lera was a beautiful young bacteria. Her whole name was Cholera, but prefered her nickname Lera. Phoid was a handsome young bacteria. His whole name was Typhoid, but prefered his nickname Phoid.

One day, Lera was walking to the local pool. Phoid saw her an immediatly blushed. With her blue complexion and kidney beanish shape, Cholera was easily the most hawt germ Phoid had ever seen.

Phoid smoothly yeeted himself into the water, causing a splash that drenched Lera, who was sunbathing on the rim of the cup (>:}). "HEY!! I WAS TRYING TO GET TAN HERE," Cholera screeched. Phoid blushed and muttered an apology. Lera felt terrible for yelling so she apologized as well. "Maybe, to make up for it, I can take you out to that lovely cafe down the street from here." Cholera looked up. It seemed pretty hard to climb out of here, but with Typhoid, she decided she could do it.

They slowly but surely began their descent.

Suddenly, they got sucked backwards. All they could see was a little kids mouth as he drank the water that Phoid and Lera were chilling in.

Chapter 24

"BRITTANYYY!" Charlie screamed as he watched the sand worm swallow up his one true love. His fists clenched angrily. *Oh, you're gonna pay for that, you coward!*

Abandoning his hiding place, he jumped into the sandpit and ran towards the huge worm, which snapped its head around to glare at him. Alph yelled something, but he couldn't hear him, and besides, he wasn't in the mood to sit and hide anymore. *Plus, this is my chance to impress Brittany!"

The massive worm's throat convulsed as it hurled up a chunk of earth from who knows where. He sidestepped it, whistled at the Red Pikmin they'd left nearby, and charged them at its partially-buried chest. Alarmed, it began spitting up even more dirt, showering the battlefield with mud in its desperation.

With a screech, the worm suddenly launched itself from the ground and soared through the air before landing back on the ground. The thrown-off Pikmin scurried after it as it shoved its face into the sand and began digging. It disappeared into the ground and began digging in circles, and in the blink of an eye, the entire center of the map collapsed, with its toothy mouth in the center, opening and closing in anticipation.

Charlie's Pikmin squealed as they began to slide towards its mouth. Charlie whistled at them, trying to keep them together, and looked around to find an escape, when something caught his attention.

A peculiar rock, sitting on the wall of the sandpit. A strange orange glow came from the cracks in its ashy brown surface. *I wonder what that does...*

He threw a Pikmin at it. The little alien picked up the rock instantly - as if on instinct - and ran back to him, carefully holding the rock above the surface. "Hey, little guy, can you throw that rock at that thing?"

It nodded and suddenly kicked the glowing rock into the massive hole. The sand worm's mouth snapped shut around it eagerly...

... just as the rock exploded.

It flew out from the ground once more, smoke billowing from its jaws, and this time, it made no effort to retreat to the safety of the ground.

"Hey, Brittany!" he called, holding its jaws open. "You in there?"

The pink-haired botanist emerged from its throat. Thankfully, she looked fine. "Uh, yeah, of course I am."

"Oh, good. I was so worried that-"

"Alph!" she exclaimed, running away.

Alph was sitting on the ground, clutching one of his legs. "Alphie, are you okay?" Brittany asked. He gave her a shaky thumbs-up in response.

Charlie stepped towards him nervously. He could hear weird noises behind him, but didn't bother checking them out. He'd been so focused on beating up the worm... How had he not noticed that his engineer had been injured? He felt terrible.

"What happened?" she asked, sitting down beside him.

"I was running after Charlie, and trying to get him to come back, and then I got hit by one of its massive sand balls. I-i'm fine, though," he added quickly. "It's just a sprain. I'm still able to walk... probably."

She stood up and turned to Charlie. "Captain, you're carrying him back."

"What? Why me?"

"Because I don't feel like it, and the Pikmin have their hands full. Brittany pointed past him, at the corpse of the sand worm, the alien technology they'd seen earlier, and a huge, broken-up fruit with a leaf-green shell and striking red interior. The Pikmin were already surrounding the various objects, struggling to pick them up. *Oh. That was what caused those sounds.*

Alph's gaze flitted between her and Charlie, his freckles suddenly outlined in red. "I-I... I can walk! Totally! I just, uh, need some time to rest, and I'll be fine-"

Charlie thrust his arms under Alph and scooped up the smaller Koppaite, whose face instantly flushed the same shade as the huge fruit the Pikmin were carrying off. "Are you SURE you aren't sick?" he asked. "You've been all hot and bothered ever since the last spar we had with that worm. Do you think that juice was contaminated, Brittany?"

"O-oh, I'm not sick," Alph stammered. "This is - this is just a lot."

"Well, either way, you're still injured, so we need to get you back to the Drake. Plus, someone's gotta upgrade the ship with all that new tech!"

And so began the long walk back, with determination in their hearts and Koppai on their minds.

Or at least, that's how Charlie felt. He wasn't psychic.

Chapter 23

Meanwhile, on the other side of the planet...

"Louie, let go of that treasure. We're not supposed to be eating that."

Olimar buried his face in his hands, exasperated. Louie, his glutton of a colleague, tightly hugged the side of a dessert treasure. Though he, too, wanted nothing more than to give it a taste, he knew better than to send back something half-eaten - it meant shaming, lectures, and pay cuts.

And yet he wouldn't budge, opting to glare at his Captain before opening his mouth and trying to take a bite out of it.

"Oh, no, you don't!" Olimar snapped, stepping forward and yanking him down by the leg. He collapsed on the floor and muttered something incomprehensible before walking away.

Sighing, he turned and stared out the window at where the Planet Hocotate would be. His wife and kids were there right now, waiting for his return. Hopefully, this huge debt would move on soon, and they'd be able to return home, see their families again.

"Alright," he said, booting up the ship's location selector and swiping to an unexplored area. It looked somewhat like an ancient stump in a barren land. "This is the place we're searching in tomorrow. Got any problems?"

"Actually, yes."

He started. Louie spoke so little, it always came as a bit of a shock whenever the younger Hocotatian actually said something. "Hm? What's wrong with this place?"

"I'm... not sure," he mumbled. "But I'm not getting good feelings about that place. Can't we... look somewhere else?"

On second thought, this place WAS quite creepy-looking... but neither could afford to leave anything behind. "That's not going to stop us. Besides, it's just be for a day or two. What could go wrong?"

Chapter 21

Alph stood and stared at the hulking sand worm as it tunneled back down into the earth, the sand rising in huge lumps in its wake. It began circling the two Koppaites and their trembling squad of Pikmin.

"Guys, run!" Brittany shouted. She'd managed to get within earshot, although the beast tunneling past had stopped her. She motioned to them wildly. "Get out of there! Move to another area! DO SOMETHING!"

Charlie shook himself and began carefully walking to where Brittany was, but turned back and looked at Alph. "Hey, what are you waiting for?"

He glanced at the underground creature, which was beginning to dig in circles in a nearby area, and shuddered. "I don't know. I-I'm scared."

"Here." The captain reached out. "Take my hand. I'll lead you across."

Alph's eyes sparkled.

They moved out of the way just as part of the ground collapsed nearby, forming a deep pit. Charlie calmly stepped closer and closer to the exit, pausing whenever the ground began to tremble. They were almost there...

Suddenly Brittany started. "Guys! RUN!" she shouted, backing away - just as a giant ball of sand fell from the sky, landing right in front of them. They turned.

The sand worm had emerged from the ground once more. Alph and Charlie watched as it coughed up another sand ball, which hit just a little to their right. Two more followed and completed the small square.

It had them trapped.

"HEY!" Brittany's voice could be heard from outside. "That creature is doing that thing where it digs in circles and makes a huge death pit. Get your Pikmin out of there, find a way to escape, and get over here!"

Charlie didn't hesitate - he began tossing Pikmin over the edge of the dirt walls, and Alph copied him, not wanting a bunch of Pikmin's blood on his hands. Brittany's whistling almost drowned out the imposing sound of shifting earth. Almost made the intense dread bearable.

Just as the last Pikmin was thrown, the ground below them collapsed. Alph shrieked as he began falling down towards the sand worm's snapping jaws...

When something grabbed him.

He looked up. Captain Charlie was scaling the wall, one hand gripping the wall, the other on the white thing around Alph's helmet. Something about that moment, the dazzling sunlight, the beautiful scenery, definitely not the context behind their situation...

... made him look glorious.

"Uh, you good, Alph? You've gone a bit red in the face."

He hadn't realized he was blushing. "Uh, y-yeah."

Charlie carried him over the edge of the wall and jumped down. He cleared the landing, gently set Alph down, and ran over to Brittany. "Hey, Brittany, did you see that? I got us out!"

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Let's just go back to the Drake. We need to set up some sort of battle plan against this thing."

"Right!" he said, running off. Alph watched him leave.

Brittany saw him standing there and walked over. "You're in love with him, aren't you?"

"Yes, Brittany," he sighed dreamily. "Yes I am."
