First half of first chapter of the 7 Kingdoms

Chapter 1

Are you kidding me? Paisley Waterborne wondered as she studied her Orbis History Book during class, I already know all the kingdoms! The world of Orbis consisted of 7 kingdoms. The kids in Orbis had to study a different book that magically adjusted to their knowledge. This is what Paisley’s book looked like:

In Orbis, there are 7 kingdoms. A water kingdom, lava kingdom, stars kingdom, sun kingdom, earth kingdom, cloud kingdom, and the ice kingdom. The rulers, and kingdom names are as follows:

Iceworld	Queen Crystal

All these people worked in harmony until 1938, which was the Great Separation.

And it kept going. Paisley was getting so bored. But she had to read, so she kept reading until Mrs. Hawthorne, her teacher, rapped on the front desk.

“Attention students!” She called, her knuckles still tapping, “You may put down your books!”

All the students slammed their books down, relieved that they didn’t have to read that any longer.

“Children!” Mrs. Hawthorne scolded, “You do not slam the books! Everyone....”

She didn’t get to yell anymore, because the bell interrupted her scold.

Paisley rushed out of the classroom, relieved to get out of her #1 least favorite class.

“Harmony!” She exclaimed when she saw her best friend.

“Paisley!” Harmony exclaimed back, running to greet her friend.

Harmony Whitewater was Paisley’s #1 best friend and had been since forever.

All Orbis’ last names had to do with their heritage/personality placement or where they lived at the time. Everyone had a destined kingdom within the 7 Kingdoms. You found out your Destiny at the Destin Ceremony. The Destin Ceremony always occurs on your graduation from Orb School, which is the basic understanding grade (or BUG) part of school. The Orbis that were in that grade were split into groups. 1&2 year olds were Ladybugs, 3&4 year olds were Crickets, 5&6 year olds were Caterpillars, 7&8 year olds were Butterflies, and 9&10 year olds were Bees. when you are 10, at the end of Bee stage, you are eligible for the Destin Ceremony. You have to get the Destin Ceremony before you turn 12. Paisley and Harmony were both 10, so they were at the end of Bee stage.

“Are you nervous for the Destin Ceremony?” Harmony asked Paisley when she had sidled up besides her.

“Yeah, I am. It’s only in…” Paisley counted on her hands, muttering the names of months under her breath,”2 months!”

Harmony and Paisley both shuddered. They couldn’t bear to think about being split up.

“Well,” Harmony started as they approached the Magic Training Classroom, “I think it’s time to…”

“Excuse me!” They heard a hoity-toity voice sneer, “Daughter of QUEEN Aquafina coming through.”

Harmony and Paisley rolled their eyes.

That was Scarlett Blackmist, yes, the daughter of Queen Aquafina. But unlike the Queen, Scarlett was mean, rude, and braggy. She never missed a chance to rub in that she was the daughter of the queen. She also expected to have a full army of slaves, a sea of people bowing down before her, and all A’s on all her papers.

“Yeah, move.” Her little friend, Pixie snapped at everyone. Paisley didn’t move though, because Scarlett wasn’t scary at all. It’s not like Queen Aquafina would banish them, Paisley’s mom, Jackie, had laughed when Paisley first introduced this problem.

“You heard Pixie.” Scarlett sneered, “Move.”

“No,” Harmony stayed where she was.

“Your status in Aqua Kingdom is nothing compared to mine.” Scarlett retorted.

“I might not be daughter of the Queen, but at least I’m not mean and I don’t force my friends to be...SLAVES.”

“You…” Pixie started, but just then their teacher, Miss Johns, came out.

“What is the hold up, Bees?” She asked.
