My blog was here on Jan 12, but I never made any posts. I will now be making posts on my official blog, the sister talk. It's for girls only! Talking starts now: So Hello! Today is going great! So um yeah so are there any boys here? If so, i warned youto leave. If ur still here then ur kinda a *******. Now that they are gone, let's talk bodies.

So I'm 10 and this is for 10 and up mostly 10 to 16 and yeah let's get started.

So I have the tiniest bit of curviness. Is this normal for my age?

I also have cupped Breasts. uknow... the B word. And so they hurt at EVERY. LITTLE.THING.

Also I had my Period two times now, but the first one didn't hurt, and the second one did.

I had a SERIOUS amount of pain :(

I really can't wait to grow up and be what people call a WOMAN:D and I'm not sure if that's appropriate for a 10 yr old but yeah. Idk why tho because grownups have so many things they have to do!

Ok. So my parents are divorced and it’s been really hard for me. Basically, I get up to go to school on Thursday, drop my big sis off at middle school, then go straight to my dads house. I stay there till Monday. I get ready for school and go to school like normal, but my mom picks me up. In the case of no school, I go to my moms at 3:00. Then I stay with her until that Thursday, then I go to my dads house for dinner but I only have time to do homework, pick up some Chopt or Chipotle, the go to new Canaan to eat and pick my sisters up, then go straight to moms house and stay with her till Monday. Then the cycle repeats. But anyway, my dad got a girlfriend, let’s just call her…Jenny. They have been together for about 2 years. They, um, well, I’ll cut to the chase. They got engaged. I knew, my dad told me, and I love her, but it’s going to be weird. Especially with my real birth mother. Well, my mom hates my dad, my dad doesn’t hate her so strongly. I have a lot of time alone with them, so I have both sides of the story. My dad thinks she only wants what will make me like her more than my dad and wants the most custody with me. My mom thinks my dad is being unreasonable. Whenever I mention my dad to my mom, she changes the subject. So I was with my dad and we were watching a movie. Jenny was there too. We talked about it. Jenny says “your mom can text me too, I gave her my number.” And I said that she won’t, and it turns out my mom hasn’t texted Jenny at all! Not even once! So at this point I’m confused. Can you help me puzzle out what I can do? If I should do anything? If I should try to help Jenny? How I can help? What my mom wants or needs? What my dad wants or needs? Also, sorry about how this cry for help is in the form of a novel.

Hey! Welcome to The Sisterhood. This is going to be a girls-only mini-blog series that I will post every so often. If you enjoy it or have any feedback, please tell me. If you want to post in The Sisterhood too, let me know through the comments. Have fun :)

So, sisters. Let’s talk bodies. ...this is going to be a very awkward and weird post... brace yourselves.

I wanna get this clear and out in the open: I’m not ashamed to say the P-word. Period. There, I said it. Big deal. I’m not ashamed to say the B-word either. Breasts. See! Here we are not ashamed, sisters (lol I sound like James Charles from all the sisters-ing).

Okay, so how many of you have hit puberty? It’s fun, huh? *sarcasm alert* So yeah, quick puberty overview; you get hairy, you get sweaty, you get breasts and you get your period. I figure y’all know about babies... etc. Basically, puberty is a girl’s body growing so she can make a baby (although she’s only physically able to produce the human. Whether she can care for it yet is something else).

Anyway. Puberty brings inner changes to your body; periods, hormones and baby organs (The Sisterhood will do a post on periods quite soon) but also outer changes, such as getting sweatier, hairier and curvier. Also, you get breasts.

OUTSIDE BODY CHANGES 101

Breasts: you’ll probably have to wear a bra at some point, so it’s worth measuring yourself up now and talking to your mum/big sister/aunt/friend etc. If you play a lot of spot, you’ll probably want a sports bra as well. (The Sisterhood will do a post on breasts/bras in the near future).
Hairy legs: you don’t have to shave your legs at all. Not shaving keeps the hair soft and short, and it will grow much slower. If you decide to shave, ask your mum/aunt/sister/friend to help you the first time in case you cut yourself.
Hairy armpits: if you want to shave, trim it with a less-than-close-cutting electric razor a few times before you do the real deal and shave it all off with a proper razor.
Hairy lady land/down there/private parts: no matter you call your place, it’s gonna get hairy there so be prepared. Wait a few years before you shave here, trim the hair with round scissors to avoid cutting yourself.
Spots: you’re gonna get really sweaty, so make sure to find a good face wash that doesn’t irritate your skin or have plastic microbeads in it. Use it once/twice a day and don’t cover up your spots with makeup, it will make them much worse. Try not to squeeze spots, it can leave scars. If you have really bad acne, ask your parent(s) about seeing a dermatologist.
Sweat: wash every day and find a deodorant/antiperspirant that works for you. Your sweat will change over time, so have a backup brand if your current one stops working for you. Try to shower every two or three days.
Greasy hair: use conditioner when washing your hair if you don’t already. Tie your hair up if you can to keep it off your neck and stop you sweating as much. Wash your hair more often and use serum if it helps the frizz of drying.
Curves: women are naturally curvy so your shoulders will get broader, your hips will widen most (this is for giving birth if you ever do it) and your bum and thighs will get bigger too. You might need to get new jeans if your old ones don’t fit your curves; children’s clothes tend to be quite boxy.

Don’t compare your body to other people’s. Everyone is different so don’t feel pressured to look a certain way or whatever, just keep clean and healthy and you’ll be fine. You might think, ‘oh, but she’s got nicer curves than me,’ but the chances are she’s thinking, ‘I wish I had hair like her.’ Everyone feels insecure about themselves sometimes, so remember you can always post a question and tag the-sisterhood.
