The next morning was a sad day because we needed to go to my Miriam's funeral. The next couple of hours was hard on me, because Miriam was my only sibling, now my mom said she would try to have another kid, but that doesn't matter anymore I just wanted Miriam. When we got home I ran to my room not even thinking about eating lunch.

Shark Bait ch8 (wow these are going by fast)

"Where did it go?" I asked, but Natali was too frozen in fear to respond. "I...I don't know, but we need to get to shore--fast!" she screamed, bolting towards the shore. "Hey!? You're just gunna leave me here?! What about what happened last time you did that?" I asked, hurt.

"Right...sorry..." Natali called, stopping so that I could catchup to her. "Ya know, about that..I'm really sorry about what I did that day..I was just so--" "Fearstruck?" I asked. "Yeah..I guess you could say that! We're cool though, right?" Natali asked, patiently waiting for my response.

I smiled. "Yes! Now let's getto shore maybe before like we get eaten!" Her eyes dialated. "Oh. my. gosh." My eyebrows raised. "What? What's wrong?!" "We gotta get there--soon! Wherever that thing went; it can't be far behind..." I nodded, as we raced to shore as quick as the speed of sound.

The sun set gorgeously on the crystal blue shores in Malibu. Every time I went twilight surfing I always used to think about how peaceful it looks up there. But that wasn't important right now.

I had to focus at getting back to shore before that thing caught up to us. I had to stay alive before the Annual Malibu, California Surfing Competition, or who was I as a surfer? "So," Natali began, seeing the worried look on my face as we ran up the beach and collapsed. "How are you feeling about the comp. this year?" I shrugged.

"I don't really know. You gotta get a pretty big wave in order to get a shot at winning," I noted, reflecting back on last year's fail. Natali shook her head. "No way. Doesn't matter what size wave you get. I know you'll nail that thing!" I smiled.

"But what if all I get are sets? You can't surf those; they don't even break!" I started hyperventilating after I recognized my discovery. "You'll be fine, girl! Chill! You've been surfing since Kindergarten!" I saw she was trying to reassure me, but it wasn't working. "It's in three days, and I'm going to surf two of them and rest the third. I just need to borrow our stress packet of chamomile tea and pillows before I start," Natali laughed.

"You'll be fine! Just...breathe!" I sighed. These were going to be a long three days.

TO BE CONTINUED!! :D

Chapter Seven: http://www.kidzsearch.com/questions/13124/shark-bait-ch7-finally-here?show=13124#q13124

Next Chapter: http://www.kidzsearch.com/questions/14213/shark-bait-ch9-yayy?show=14213#q14213

SHARK BAIT CH6

There's got to be a reason for this thing. "What are the odds that a shark just, randomly lets you ride its back all the way to shore after being injured on a reef? What predatory animal wouldn't smell the blood floating in the water and join in on the feeding frenzy?" I ranted to Natali the next morning. She sat there, staring into space.

"Well? Natali? What've you taken from this entire conversation this morning?" She retracted out of her daze like a glitch robotic arm. "Huh...sorry! I'm totally listening! I wasn't sleeping with my eyes open or anything!" I smiled.

"Nice save," "It's not that you're boring, Lia, it's just that your topics are getting boring. Don't-take that the wrong way." I rolled my eyes.

"Trust me, Nat. If it happened to YOU, then you would understand it." I replied reassuringly. She shook her head. "No, Lia...no I wouldn't..." She trailed off, closing the door behind her as she left.

"Uggghhhh!" I groaned. "I gotta get this thing figured out! I can't wait another minute!" I glued my eyes to the computer screen for the rest of that Saturday morning, not realizing that I'd been zoning out into my research again much like yesterday.

I grabbed a notepad from my desk and began jotting down some information from my research, like every good scientist does.

DO SHARKS NORMALLY SAVE PEOPLE? NO.

IS IT LIKELY THAT THEY WOULD? ALSO NO.

HOW MANY TIMES AM I GONNA MAKE A LIST OF RANDOM THINGS I ALREADY KNOW? THAT PART IS STILL UNDETECTED...

So, my research didn't really work out as I imagined, but let's put the idea of killing people through trees aside, and focus on the cold, hard, facts. Beep! Beep! My phone started ringing at the WORST time ever. I sighed as I shook my phone out of my pillowcase.

I had text messages from all this morning coming in from Natali after she left with her dramatic exit.

lia I wanted to aplgize 4 the thing this morng. outa line, check :(

It is SO hard to decipher her messages. Honestly, I really doubt that this girl knows when to stop. But hey, I guess she's the best friend I'll ever have.

Zzzzzz.....Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Phone rings again, and this time in the middle of my nap. "Hello?" I asked, half asleep. "Hey, Lia..I just wanted to say I'm sorry about this morning. Wanna catch some waves?"

I sighed. "I mean, I guess I could use a break from my research," I replied. Moments later, we were trudging through the sand like we used to, before the shark thing speculated. "I'm glad you're finally trying to get this stuff out of your head," Natali said, as we ran into the water. "Me too," I replied, staring into the crystal waters before us.

My stomach grew tight, as I passed over a set with Natali, a familiar triangular shape surfaced above the water, which sent Natali screaming. I just sat there, frozen in shock.

TO BE CONTINUED.

Chapter Five: http://www.kidzsearch.com/questions/11354/shark-bait-ch5?show=11354#q11354

SHARK BAIT CH 3

Search: Selachimorphas

I couldn't find one single thing about human/shark symbiosis. Nothing. "Hmm..maybe what happened to me was just some sort of freak accident..worst case scenario, the shark actually did hurt me, and I was hallucinating or something, like what Natali insisted.

Suddenly, there was a knock on my door. "Dad, I told you. I'm not going back out there until I'm sure of what I saw yesterday." I called under the door, thinking my father was the knocker. "Actually, it's me," said a more feminine voice, the door cracking open slightly.

"Oh, hey Natali." I droned, still scrolling my mouse down the computer screen, in search of proof and evidence. "Are you really still stuck on that shark thing again?" Natali asked, a faint grin in her cheeks. But when she saw that I wasn't laughing, her expression faded, much like mine. "You don't understand," I replied, turning from the computer screen.

"you don't know what it's like to..have something as shocking and incredible happen in your life before," I receited like a Nature Valley granola bar commercial on TV. "Well, maybe I don't. But Lia I'm still going to be here for you. We're the California girls!" Natali exclaimed enthusiastically. "Maybe," I said, turning back to the screen. "But I wanna find out what that shark has to say..."

Natali left later that day to go hit the 20 footers before they dropped. She insisted I come with her, but, she understood that I was still a bit shaken as to what had happenwd the day before. That shark is costing me my surfing reputation, and I'm gonna figure out why.

TO BE CONTINUED:

Chapter Two: http://www.kidzsearch.com/questions/8750/shark-bait-ch2-finally?show=8750#q8750

SHARK BAIT CH2 (FINALLY)

I didn't know what to think. My stomach cramped and twisted inside of me. A few seconds later Natali's eyes drifted toward the zig-zagging shape, her face growing pale with uncertainty.

"Lia! Paddle; fast!" she called, already ziplining towards the shore. Without me. I stared back at her, and then I sunk underwater, having almost being drowned by a humungo-wave, then the shark dove under, noticing that my head was bleeding. Or so I thought..I blacked out shortly afterward but the main thing that I remember was being on top of the shark's back, torpedoing towards the seashore, my board clutching my ankle tightly. Natali saw me unconcious in a tidepool, and as I awoke, I saw the shark slowly swimming deeper and further away from us. I got up searching for it but then fell back down into the sands, which were being moved by the tides. Natali clung to my arm. "Blood," she said. "What?!" I asked, shocked. "You're bleeding. Did the shark hurt you?" I shook my head. "No; it helped me. It drove me u ptocthe shore. I cut myself on the reef, and I rode it back to shore..." I replied, staring back into the ocean. "That's ridiculous. I think you're hallucinating, Lia." said Natali, logically. "Yeah, Natali. Say what you want. But I know, what I saw. Because last time I checked, I was the one out there, while my best friend raced upto shore without me," She frowned. I detached my board strap from my ankle and ran up to my house, my surfboard held tightly under my arm. "Lia!" Natali called, but she was no match for my speed. The sun set easily across the horizon, and the first thing that I did when I got home was research more on sharks. I want to know what really happened out there....

TO BE CONTINUED:

chapter two: Home, Sweet Home.

That night, I sat down to talk to Sapphire about this. We were both a little freaked out, but I guess that that's just a part of life. "Sapphire," I said, stroking her long, black braid like mom does. "Don't beat yourself up about it. Fear is just another reason to try harder," I quoted. started Christina Aguilera's "What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger". Sapphire looked at me. "We're still alive," she giggled. "Do I hear giggling up there?" Dad called from the bottom of the staircase. Me and Sapphire started laughing, then raced out the door to see his face. She took one side of he stair-railing, and I took the other. We looked at each other, then nodded. Nano-seconds after that, we were sliding to the very end of the rail, and met Dad's glance. "Sandy, I heard you singing to your sister up there. That was very nice of you, to give her that pep-talk," I smiled ear-to-ear, blushing in embarrassment. "You weren't supposed to hear that," I said, while signing at the same time. "Whatever it was, I certainly didn't hear it," my mom signed back. We all laughed. Maybe this treatment won't be so bad after all?......TO BE CONTINUED

TGOW Virginie:Back N' Paris

Frere Jaque! Frere Jaque! Dormes-vous? Dormes-vous?

Wrung my iPad. The national anthum of France is my ringtone, for support of my father, who's in France's armed forces. Funny, considering he's an American. Anyway, my iPad said: "Hey what are you doing @ 6?" I rubbed my eyes and fell out of bed. and texted back: "Sleeping. 6:00 pm is 12 am here." I slowly started to doze off again, when my iPad beeped. I muttered "How slow is our WiFi?" in French. Another text message. It says: "Guess who will be in Paris with you when we're done with mexico" My eyes widen. "Eeeeeeeeeeeee!!!" "Quoi c'est que?" (what is that) Begged my mom. Oops. That was a little loud. "Sorry! I'm just reeeeeeeeeally excited for my friend Pandora to come here!" "I never agreed to some girl coming here?!––Wait. Welcome. (she meant hold up, but she's still learning American phrases.) Is that the one you met briefly in the airport?" she asked. I nodded. "Yes," She smiled. "She seemed lovely. But I still don't understand why you're squealing at 3 AM?" I looked down. "I got a text. Two, actually." I replied. She smacked her forhead. "It's 9 o'clock PM there, right?" she asked. "Yep. A six-hour difference." I answered. "Just––just go back to sleep." she dismissed, and walked out of the room, shutting the door behind her. I sigh and crawl back into bed. I can't wait for tomorrow!

Small World ch 5

Chapter five: The California Border

He pulled away nervously, wide eyed. Looked down for a second. Then he jumped out of the stall and I heard his boots clack against the floor. There's something me and my ma have in common. I unlocked the stall and scurried after him. I heard a machine buzz as I entered Rowan's room. "Hey, Bucky, why'd ya leave? What're ya scared of me?" I asked playfully. Doctors rushed in and pushed me, Bucky, and Rowan's parents and brother out into the hallway. "She's flatlining," I heard a doctor cry in distress. My face went pale. I had completely forgotten the incident in the bathroom...until the next day.

. . .

"The California border," Mr. Savage said. "A place so shaky that if you built your house there, it could be split in two when a hurricane came along," I glanced back at Bucky. Turns out he'd already been staring at me in the first place. Rowan walked in dizzily, and Cory rushed in behind her to help her into her seat. "You okay?" I asked. "Yes. Hi, Peyton." she replied. He peered at her. Then at me. "Uh...hi Rowan," he answered uncertainly. It was pretty clear that he was deciding between me and her. But I didn't want to interfere...oh wait, it IS my business. "Honey," I said. "Bri, what are you doing?" he asked. "telling her the truth. She deserves to hear it." she threw a nervous glance in my direction. "Bri? Wh-what are you talking about? The--truth...I th-thought I knew it--" she cut off. "--all," she hesitated to finish. "Looks like her medication for her ankle hasn't quite worn off yet," sighed Mr. Savage. I nodded. "You...do," Huckleberry lied. "You're lying Peyton. I can see it in your eyes," Rowan observed. "Humph," I scoffed. I looked at him. He looked at me. "You two. Hallway. Now..." Rowan said, standing up. "I'll come to!" said Cory, a little TOO enthusiastically. "Uhm..for stability," he rushed out the door behind her. I nodded at Bucky and we went with them. "What happens now?" he asks as we leave. I shrug.

Small World ch 4

Chapter four: face to face---literally!

I ran out of the room, wiping the tears from my chin as I go. I end up in a family bathroom, locked inside, and let it all out. There's a familiar sound of boot stomping and a voice that I recognize well. "What're ya doin' in 'ere?" Cried out a phony country accent. "Stop it," "What?" His voice back to normal. "I know that accent isn't real, Huckleberry," I said, sniffling. "And I know that you're not really using this bathroom," he said, truthfully. "Oh yeah,..." I challenged. "Yeah," he replied. Suddenly, I heard a bang on the stall door. Then another. Moments later, he was swinging his leg over the top of the door with swift ease. "Why did you do that?" I asked with wonder. "Why'd I do what?" He asked, even though he clearly knew. "Why'd you come after me. I mean, I figured that you'd hate me," I said. He somehow looked surprised. "What? No way, Maya. We're friends. I could never do that to you; even if I am a Huckleberry." He said. "So you admit it! That you're a ranger Rick, ranger Roy, huckleberry, and a Bucky McBoing-Boing," I cried. "Why is that?" He interrupted. "Why don't you just call me by my name? And what does Bucky McBoing-Boing even mean? I think that's a new one.." I hesitated. "Y-yeah.." I froze---and thought of a change of subject. "Hey, let's get out of here and check on Rowan." I said. Pretty slick..."No! Uh..." Nice save, Bucky. Silence. The ever so dreaded feeling that's happened to me quite often. Then, to my surprise, he grabbed my by the face and it happened. For at least 2 minutes, but then again, who's counting? I can't wait to see what happens now...

Small world ch 3

Chapter three: ER Hatred

I'm sitting in the ER waiting room with a hurting arm that's holding up an ice pack on my forehead. It reeks in here. And that obnoxious beeping machine that goes off every five seconds is about to make ME go off. "Bri, we know you're ticked off about this room, and we're sorry, but we have to wait here until we have further news on Rowan," said Cory. I groaned. "How hard IS IT just to let people in a room?" I ask impatiently. Suddenly, as if my words were miracles in verbal form, a nurse walked up and told us that we could come inside. As we walked, I asked, "So how did she end up here?" Cory then explained that the 'sink' I puked into was actually her shoes. And then she tried to back away and ended up slipping in it. Yick! We finally reached the room, and I saw Rowan, with breathing tubes up her nostrils, and a thingy on her finger. And of course, that pale look on her face and that stupid beepy thing. The nurse who's name tag said, 'Vanessa' walked up to us as we entered. Mr. Savage and his wife and son were standing in the room next to her bed. "Well, Little Miss Rowan has taken quite a tumble," said Vanessa. "She had a concussion. And she sprained her ankle. She'll be walking on crutches for awhile and needs to stay in bed rest for a bit but other than that, she should be just fine." She exited. "Great," I whimpered. "This is all my fault," Ranger Rick frowned at me. "No it's not, Bri. Things happen sometimes." "YES IT IS BUCKY MCBOING-BOING IT IS. IT IS ALL MY FAULT AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT!!" I shouted at him. Silence hung above the room. A tear struck down my face as I glanced at Rowan, then Peyton. Another embarrassing moment...

Small World ch. 2

Chapter Two: The...Incident

Mr. Savage looked at me like I was psycho. "Ms. Sabrina, do you---need a moment?" he asked. I had to force these words out. "Y-yeah..." He put that concerned look on his concerned little father face. "You are excused," he dismissed. Rowan's hand went up as I scurried to the bathroom. Moments later, she met me in the bathroom. A heavy feeling drowned out all the happy spirit in me, put there by Ranger Rick's appearance. "Bri!!" She cried and raced to me. I hurled into a nearby sink. I felt dizzy, like I was falling; helplessly.

. . .

I awoke lightheaded inside a small room that smelled of wine and cheap perfume: the nurse's office. I saw my friend Cory sitting there with me, but no sign of Ranger Rick---or Rowan. "What happened?" I asked. "You went down. Fast." He said. I then explained that I was sure I hit the nearby sink. "Uh, Bri, are ya SURE your--incident didn't affect your vision? Anyway, there's a reason Rowan and Peyton aren't here,"
