Chapter 2- Alone

_____________

About 3 hours had passed since Hinaru went out to look for food, and that’s when Sachu finally got the strength to get up and look for him. It was still dark out, and not necessarily safe, but his brother was his only hope, and Sachu wouldn’t live with losing him. His only choice was to go after Hinaru, in hopes of finding him somewhere. He didn’t care about food or shelter, his main priority was Hinaru right now.

__

Was Sachu confident he would find Hinaru? No. Did he know he was alive? Sachu was pretty sure he was, but even if Hinaru got injured, he would do anything to get him into a better condition. Despite not being in good condition himself, of course.

“HINARU!!” Sachu yelped. He stood in the dark misty exterior hoping some sort of life would respond, but all that made a sound was Sachu’s heavily breathing. Before running farther, he waited for a few more seconds. Once he was sure he wasn’t getting a response, he ran out again. Sachu was quite small, and probably would find himself lost, in just the same way his brother got lost. And it was true. His brother was lost….

__

After a while, Sachu’s legs got sore. He couldn’t walk anymore, and kneeled down to catch his breath for a second. But even that wouldn’t help. He needed to rest. He needed to rest in a warm house with fluffy pillows and blankets. A clean house that provides a bathroom and food. He knew this was just a fantasy, but for once he wished that he could reach that fantasy, and live in that moment for a bit. His fantasy was to be with his brother, Hinaru, well nourished and healthy.

All I need to do is find Hinaru…. Sachu contemplated.

Hinaru is my priority. If I don’t find him…. Sachu took a deep sigh, and continued to saunter through the woods. He wasn’t keeping track of how long he was out, but it must’ve been long enough for him to witness the sun ever so slightly rise up. Another thing was that he noticed a few cars and a store that he was walking towards.

D-did I just walk through the whole woods?... He asked himself. There was still no sign of Hinaru, and the day was just about to begin. Sachu was in the middle of nowhere, alone and frail. The best he could do for now was find a convenience store and get something. He thought he’d stick with that, but he was unsure if he’d even have any yen on him. Sachu and Hinaru’s parents never really gave them money. The only time they did was for something they needed, not what Sachu or Hinaru needed. But before Hinaru and

Sachu took a step into the real world and out of their hellhouse, Hinaru managed to grab a few coins without either parents noticing. He split some in between him and Sachu, ending it as a fair share. Sachu wasn’t sure how many Hinaru retrieved, but he hoped it was enough to get him a sandwich. Sachu patted down his pockets to feel anything flat and circular in there, and fortunately enough, he felt about three yen, each that were worth 10 yen. He also managed to find a bit of paper yen. Together it was worth ¥3,103. This was surely enough for a sandwich. How convenient!

As soon as Sachu reached the curb of the convenience store, he steadily walked in while getting an invitation of cold air bursting through the top of the ceiling.

Strange… He thought. Since Sachu had never really been able to get food from outside or even be outside, this was quite the experience for him. He was incredibly shy, and the only thing overlooking him was talking to the cashier. He wished the sandwich would just magically appear for him, without having to make small talk or even pay for it. Using up all the yen wasn’t the smartest idea, but he was famished. So with that, Sachu made up his mind, and grabbed the sandwich tightly while reluctantly walking towards the cashier. The cashier towered over Sachu, staring down at him blankly. His eyes looked dark and soulless. It sort of resembled Sachu’s life. His life was never full of life. He rather felt like he was dead since no one paid attention to him despite Hinaru trying his best to comfort and be present for Sachu. But now, no one was present at all, and it was just Sachu against the world.

__

Getting this sandwich was trouble for him. The cashier really intimidated him until he finally got to hear the first words boom out of the cashier’s mouth.

“Is this all for you, kiddo?” He gave Sachu a warm smile, gently taking out the sandwich from his dirty hands. The cashier took a minute to examine Sachu, and his quite scraggly demeanor.

“How about this, little guy. You look malnourished. I’ll throw in a water for you for free. Does that sound good?” He queried Sachu. Sachu was still uneasy about socializing. All he could give was a subtle nod. The cashier took the water out of the refrigerator and handed it over to Sachu. The bottle was wet, and left Sachu’s hand covered in droplets. He held the bottle tightly in his hands, a sign of acceptance, and looked back at the underestimated cashier. Why underestimated? Because Sachu thought he was a mean old man who would tell him to scram. It was only his voice that needed to be heard to convince Sachu he wasn’t so bad after all. The cashier smiled, and put out his hand to retrieve the yen Sachu had been carrying with him. Sachu was confused, and softly touched his hand.

The cashier chuckled.

“That’ll be ¥200…..-

May I ask what’s your name, little boy?” He fixed his face to a pleasant inviting ‘you’re safe here’. Sachu hesitated to respond, but acceptantly put the yen in his hand. Before taking his food and water, he subtly responded with a

“Sachu.” It was a quick little response, and rather inaudible. But the cashier took his name in, and promised himself he would remember that name forever.

________________________________________________________________________________________

End of Chapter 2!!
Adison Chap.2 by <Jelly>

"Adalyn! Wake up, now! Stop faking it!", I awake to the screaming of my older sister, Abbie.

I slowly sit up, but Abbie is still screaming in my face."Ok, stop. I'm awake. What did I miss?"

"THAT!"

"What?" I'm confused.

Abbie is silent and urges me to listen. RING! RING!"Thats the phone, go grab it!", I tell her."No, but it's the hospital! They keep calling, but I haven't picked up!"

I sigh."I'm not allowed to use the phone, you get it."Abbie walks slowly to the kitchen counter, and gingerly picks up the phone. I go into another room and try to process this whole day.

"Adalyn.Come here right now."Abbie calls. Except there's something wrong with her voice. She sounds scared. I walk into the kitchen. Her face is chalk-white, and her eyes are alarmed.

"Abbie?What is it"?

"Kiesha. She has cancer".Abbie's voice sounds like a candle about to flicker and die. I'm numb. It's as if the world was taken off it's axis and turned upside down two million times before being put down again. Maybe thats why I'm numb. Because when the earth was put back, it was put a little more slanted on it's axis, and it's still turning around the sun. Everything's wrong. And I can't feel it.

Lorekeeper-Chapter 2

I stumbled down the stairs, blinking from the sudden exposure to bright light.
"You guys are up already?" I asked sleepily when I saw my parents in the kitchen downstairs.
"Of course honey, it's 7:45. Why the funny look?"
"Oh gosh! I've got to take a shower and brush my hair, and my teeth, and make my bed, and....." I was still listing tasks when I hopped into the shower- and promptly hopped back out.
"Oh, sorry Allie! I forgot to tell you that there's something wrong with the water heater." My mother called from downstairs when she heard my yelp.
"Oh great, just great." I mumbled under my breath.

When I finally grabbed my backpack and made it to the bus stop, I realized that I was too late for the bus. Well, I guess that's what happens when you for some reason get up way too late and then discover that there is no hot water.

Of course, my parents aren't actually my parents. Their my adoptive parents. You see, when I was little, like two or three, my real parents disappeared or something like that. I don't ever remember meeting them, and all my adoptive parents know about them is that people thought they were very peculiar.

I say ‘Of course' (At the beginning of the last paragraph. Look back a little while.) because we look absolutely nothing alike. First of all, both my parents have blonde hair, while my straight, jet-black hair creates a striking contrast. Also, my adoptive father has light brown eyes and my mother possesses beautiful ice-blue eyes. I have dark green eyes. I know what your thinking. It's very strange to look look like that.

Oh, and it gets better (Or worse, it depends on your opinion.) I was also born with almost paper-colored skin. If I was an actress, I am almost positive that I would have starred in last year's school production of Snow-White. I'm also about 90% sure that my skin is paler than Snow-White's. I mean, have you seen the illustrations of her in those kids' fairy tale books? I kept on thinking about all this until I checked my watch and then decided that I would have to run the rest of the way to school. I did.

Hope you guys like it! Cookie_Monster is writing the next chapter from Phoenix's point of view. I can't wait to hear it!

"That can't be true, it has always been the two sisters, not the three," said Luna."Not always, I'm afraid, as you and me were the sun and moon Astell was the everyfree forest. For the everyfree forest used too be beautiful with Astell guarding over it, but after a while she grew jealous like you did Luna, but she did not want to be equal, she wanted to destroy everything in equestria and redo it from scratch. The wizard and I did not approve, this made Astell grow angry, causing her to go into a dark spiral, she made a great flood come and wipe everything out completely, some ponies did not survive. Then she tried to destroy the castle of the THREE sisters, because to her it was a sign of hurt and pain that she felt, and a feeling of being unequal to us, me and star-swirled the bearded tried to get her to stop peacefully but Astell shut us out. We had to banish her. We did not want it to come to that," said Celestia. Luna was so inclined to the story she did not notice her sister Celestia had been softly crying. "I wanted to restart and form a new land that could be more peaceful I did not intend to hurt anyone but I tried to tell them a flood was coming, but they would not listen," said Astell. Luna sat there, her mouth gaped open, she was silent until now. "Why did you not tell me we had a third sister before, Celestia?" Asked Luna. "I did it to protect you," said Celestia. "Yeah right, she did not want you to know that you weren't the only sister she banished!" Astell said. "That not true Astell!" Exclaimed Celestia. " it's the truth and you know it!" Astell said. "STOP FIGHTING!" Luna said. They both stared at her and silenced,. "I will go for now and leave you two to discuss," said Astell.

Here is chapter two!

Kyuusei Chapter 2: Tekishitsu

Kyuusei Chapter 2: Tekishitsu

"Thank you kindly, Yu-meh-la," said the teacher, his small, fat little face twisting as his tongue wrestled with the strange word. He looked at me as if for help, and I facepalmed in my head. He had said it right the first few times! What's so hard about saying a name?! But maybe he only imitated my mother when she called me Yumeka before leaving and before I introduced myself.

"It's Yumeka," I said squeakily.

"Would you mind if I just called you Yuma?" he said, as if scared I would refuse. Listen, Teach, I can't kick you without getting in trouble, so calm down.

I had half a mind to scream because Yumeka is such a simple name to say. Yume-e-ka. Why can't you say that?! I want to be called Yumeka, or even Ms. Haruesaki, but NOT a cheap nickname just because you won't try!

"Sure."

Americans are so stupid. The homeroom teacher smiled a big chesire smile as if to win me over and said, "Very well, Yuma. Please take your seat" -he gestured to a desk very close to his own- "and let me introduce myself."

I sat down right between a guy and a girl. The guy was tall and lean and had a hint of muscle on his arms, and the girl was thin- like, unhealthy thin- and had huge glasses. They both smiled, but not in a genuine way. It was more forced, like they had lost all hope in newcomers.

"I am Mr. Sharp," said the teacher happily. He stood up and I got the first good look at him. He was still fat and sweaty, but I noticed that he had pinstripe pants and a thin white shirt that were painstakingly tight. He had black hair, green eyes, and a charming-if not annoying-demeanor.

"Hello, Mr. Sharp," said all the students in a drone. I heard a few of the guys in the back laugh. "Hello, Yuma," the class said to me. Some actually said Yumeka, while others tried mid sentence and switched to Yuma once they failed to say it correctly.

Class began.

"Hi, I'm Roxy," said the girl beside me, the one with glasses, and I turned towards her.

"You don't look like one," I said, and she grinned, pushing her glasses up. "Why are you so thin?" she smiled, and went silent, opening her math textbook as I asked, realizing how rude my inquiry sounded.

"It's a mystery," said the boy. "The name's John!" he said, shaking my hand. He had feathery brown hair and the brightest blue eyes, which added to his good-natured and well-refined appearance. "I know, my name's plain, right?" he grinned, "I have friends call me Michael, cuz it's my middle name, so maybe you can call me that too."

"Okay, but that means you are basically inviting me to be your friend," I said.

He nodded. "Sure. Never had a cute little Jap as a friend before," he said.

"And you never will," I said, angered by the comment, and turned away sharply to face the teacher. 'Cute little Jap'? Really? Do not comment on my height, or anything! Though I am honored he didn't call me Chinese or Korean, it's just wrong to say that to someone.

"Hey," he said, "I'm sorry, okay?! I know that sounded racist-"

"Don't be," I cut him off.

We sat in silence the rest of the class. Mr. Sharp taught us all the core subjects, such as math, science, history, and English. Then he sent us off to the more enjoyable subjects that were taught by Mr. Franklin (reading), Ms. Norbert (music), Mr. and Mrs. Ashton (health), and Mr. Petson (art). I didn't enjoy reading very much because Mr. Frankin droned on and on, but art was cool though I had no talent in the drawing Mr. Petson was teaching.

"Mr. Petson," I said, raising my hand, "do you teach how to draw anime here?" Anything to make me feel at home. Anything. Even if it's cartoons.

"Huh-? Oh, Ms. Haruesaki," he said, and I felt thrilled he could say my name correctly. You just may become my favorite teacher, Petson! He was tall and williowly, like a tree, and silver grey like one too, he was maybe in his early 70s. "I hold after-class tutoring tailored for different drawing styles, but no, I do not teach anime in class."

"Is there a section on it?" I asked hesitantly.

"Yes, later on in May. It is one of the last sections," he said, smiling. "You have something to look forward to, no?"

I nodded and he grinned. "Back to the lesson at hand," he said, and began to draw swiftly on his blackboard, sketching away a vase of white chalk, pointing out shadows and light.

Art was the last subject, then there was a 30 minute break before we were let out. Several people left during this time, but lots of people stayed. Curious, I did too.

"Why are you here?" asked John Michael. He didn't say it meanly but like a question he was curious about.

I ignored him.

He walked up to me, and began poking my shoulder. He earned "the most immature 15 year old in the class" label from me as soon as he began doing that. After about 5 minutes of his prodding, which got sharper and quicker the longer I ignored him, I whipped around.

"What?!" I hissed like a snake.

He grinned that annoying grin.

I had half a mind to slap him.

"Soooooo," he said, "why you here?"

As I was about to say it was none of his dang business, the boys from that morning burst into the room. Obviously detention had let out early cuz it was the first day of school. The ringleader spotted me and made a beeline, his minions following like mindless zombies.

"Yumeka, Yumeka, Yumeka," he said, keeping a distance like he thought if he was far away, my short range attacks couldn't get him.

"Shut up, please?" I said, "or I'll give you a bloody nose again."

"Korean, Korean, Korean," the ringleader said, and his friends entered the chant with confidence. I stood up, and the ringleader flinched and his friends slowly faded in their chant as their boss went silent.

"Um, Yumeka," said John Michael.

"What?!" I said loudly.

"You got a message," he said, handing me my powder green-cased phone. "I think it's from your mom."

I glared at the bullies, walked backwards towards the school door, and slipped out as I checked my messages.

MOM

1 new message

Coming to pick you up! See you soon, call me when you can. xoxo Mom(

(Sent at 3:48PM, August 1st)

I groaned and punched in her number. She picked up first ring and I leaned on the school wall, which was brick and red and rough, and began talking to her.

"Hi Mom," I said, "how's it going?" I spoke in English, and, taking my lead, Mom answered in English.

"Your brother is being a little jerk as usual," she said playfully, but I knew she was serious.

"What'd he do this time?"

"Began complaining about wanting to go back to Japan," Mom said. "Got any tips for dealing with him?"

"Mom, you're the parent," I said. "But tell him his big sis feels the same."

"I know, honey, but your dad needs this job. We all need it. Don't worry, we will go back soon to visit your sofubo. 'Kay?" she said in a voice that hinted sadness.

I said, "Okay Mom...", thinking about my cheerful grandparents, who were so sad to see us go. They said that they would visit first chance they got, but we've already been here 3 months.

"Okay! See you in 5 minutes then!"

"I'll be in the school."

"Okay, my little akachan."

"Bye, Mom." I hung up, and went back into the school building. The bullies had left.

John Michael jumped me as soon as I got back inside. "Hello, my little akachan," he said playfully.

"You don't even know what that word means," I said.

"True, what's it mean?"

I stared at him with distaste. Mom danced in and looked at John Michael. "Oh, hello," she said, 'what's your name?"

"Michael," he said, grinning at me.

"You got yourself a friend, Yumeka?" Mom said cheerfully, "I am so proud!!!"

"He's not my frien-"

"I am!" he said, throwing an arm around my shoulders, and squeezing me in a side hug. I growled at him and he said, "Oh, what was that, Yumeka?"

I leaped away, grabbed my mom by the shoulder, and pulled her out of the school and into her small little Toyota; I sat shotgun. "He's not my friend, Mom," I said in Japanese so John Michael couldn't try to eavesdrop.

"Maybe he should, he seemed nice," Mom said.

'UGH," I said, burying my head in my lap. She patted my shoulder.

"I know it's hard," she said.

We drove home in silence. At least I could talk to Dad when I got home. Maybe he could help me somehow.
