OK so I have this one friend who we are going to call Olivia. So she is was my best friend. She says that everything is good between us but at the moment she is only talking to me to complain about how her dad is so mean to make her walk to school or to say she is so good at music and a compleat natural. She asks how far I got in the topic because I am in the exellerated group because I'm grade 3 clarinet and grade 4 piano and grade 3 singing and when I say I got further in 1 day than she did in 6 weeks she gets all like omg not everyone can be as good as you girl online (my user. She don't actually call me that) when I was just trying to tell her after she asked and I didn't even want to say because not to sound big headed but I am much better than her at music.

What should I do? Am I in the wrong??? Please help.

GOOD FRIENDS PART SMTHN I HAVE MOTIVATIOOOON.

*in the non-woman loving non-woman sense

Sage had been coming out to our grade through Tiktok, and I was honestly not surprised that Emma approached me

It started when Emma smirked at me as she walked by. "You know I have a right to say this stuff, right?" she said, mentioned everything she had called us earlier.

I shook my head. "What makes you say that?"

 "I'm aroace."

"Okay? I think you already established that? I really don't see the need for you to act like this. We're not going to be friends or anything after this."

 "Come on. I'm queer too."

"Too be honest, I don't like the label queer-"

 "I can use those words."

"What did you just say? That's like me calling a gay person* the f-slur. I can't do that. If you're not a specific label, you don't have the right to say the slurs reclaimed by that label."

 "I totally can."

"You're straight. You can't. Now get the **** away from me."

"Um, excuse me?! If your girlfriend were here, I could just get rid of you both."

"They don't like the label girlfriend. They're transmasc."

"Then why are you in a lesbian relationship and why do they wear dresses?"

"I don't know what to tell you, but they like dresses. And they're nonbinary. You can be nonbinary and transmasc."

"So they want to chop their breasts off?"

"Oh my GODS. I'm only telling you the information that they're comfortable with people knowing. That they have been telling people. Why are you asking me this? Sage isn't comfortable with this. Leave them alone, okay?!"

 Emma laughed. "Wow."

I stormed off, proceeding to block her, wishing I had done it sooner.

Good Friends part 7 because I'm motivated

*I forgot I was doing this for a second (I literally switched tabs for a few seconds) and refreshed*.

Long story short, Emma got detention, and I got a warning.

When we left Mx. Elliott's room, we found half the GSA waiting for us.

"What happened?" Gemmy asked. When we explained, they raised an eyebrow. "Just detention?"

 Sage nodded. "Sadly, that's it."

"I don't get her. Anyways, are you guys going to the dance? Like, together?"

I nodded. The GSA all knew we were together because of the group chat we were both in now, and everyone wanted us to go. Together. And we wanted to. So we made plans.

"To be honest, I completely forgot it was tonight," Sage said.

"Well, I'm choosing the outfits," Peyton said.

"I already had something planned-" Sage started.

"And I'll be the judge of whether it's actually cute or not."

The pictures I had seen were cute. Sage in a red shirt and a skirt that went to their knees. They had also shown me other options. A black shirt and red pants. My outfit was just a white tank top with a blazer-vest sort of thing, and pants. I had a tie, but I didn't know whether I actually wanted to wear it. I'm sure they would be deemed cute by the GSA.

*

I met up with Sage at their house. I heard their parents yelling. "Go hang out with that boy, Ryan."

 "Or Ethan."

 "Any boy pretty much."

"Just not a girl. And don't go on with the gay nonsense. I still can't believe you have that in your head."

They closed the door before an argument happened.

"Hi," they said. They weren't wearing either of the things I'd seen, but they were wearing a long jumpsuit sort of thing with see-through sleeves. It was black with green dots and looked amazing.

I smiled and we walked in silence down the sidewalk. They took my hand once we were out of sight from their parents and looked at my outfit. It was a dress that had a glittery, layered skirt that was light blue, and then the top of my original plan sewed into it. Because according to Peyton, Luka, and Gemmy, I was 'too boring'. Thanks.

 "You look great," they said.

 "So do you."

We sounded like a cheesy teen rom-com, and probably acted like one, too, but it was nice.

*

Most of the dance was either extremely enthusiastic chaperones and student council members trying to get you to dance or a bunch of people in corners here for the free food.

Guess which of these Sage and I were doing.

Yup. Instead of dancing like the rest of the GSA, we just sat in a corner with our punch and cookies on extremely uncomfortable, tiny chairs from the elementary school classrooms.

It was nice, though. We could talk. And laugh.

And not be judged because we were in a corner.

At the end of the night, I kissed Sage on the cheek and walked home with them. Teen rom-com, I know.

*oml I have no idea whether this is good enough-

Good Friends part idk, I think 5 or 6

It was a school day. That meant seeing Emma again. Funny how our friendship fell down just a few days and we were already part of a new friend group. And we had both had our first kiss. At least, I think. I know I had.

Emma saw us as we walked up to the school. Yes, we were holding hands. Yes, we did kiss before parting our ways (at least trying to part our ways). Yes, we were cheesy.

She walked over. "Give me my book."

"What book?" Sage asked, trying to look innocent. They were trying not to laugh. Both of us could not actually be serious in most serious situations.

 "I can't believe you're such a ***. I thought we were friends."

"So did I until I saw what you said about the person I was dating."

"YOU'RE DATING?! SO WHAT, YOU'RE GAY TOO?!"

"I don't actually think I'm gay-" Sage started.

 "Don't act surprised, *****."

To be fair, I don't normally say things like that. But somehow Mx. Elliot heard me.

 "What did you just say?!"

"I didn't mean it!!! She just-"

"I don't want to hear it."

 "Pfft, ****."

 Mx. Elliot turned around. "What."

 "Sorry, sorry, I didn't mean-"

"Emma, what did you just say?!"

"Can I just talk to her for a second?" Sage asked quietly. "With my girlfriend, please?"

 "Yes."

People had pulled phones out. Someone on the school newspaper was writing things down in their notebook. A few of the GSA members were watching, shocked.

"What do you want?" Emma said.

"Don't act confident, we know you're just as scared as we are. You've been horrible to us. We read the book. You can't actually be serious."

Emma smirked. "Nobody will actually know. Come on, they still think I've been with Evan."

Mx. Elliot walked down. "Girls, please come inside with me. We need to talk."

Sage was not ready to come out to anyone else at school, so they just glanced at me with an irritated look.

 "Come on. Let's go."

*I've tried to have a schedule, but I think I'll just update when I can. Please give me feedback!

Good Friends Part Five

Walking back into that room was awkward. Everybody stared at us until finally, Luka asked, "SO WHO WANTS CHOCOLATE?"

Breaking the awkward silence with more awkwardness. I like it.

Everyone left except for me, Addie, and Moira.

 "Soooo?" Addie said.

 "What?" I asked.

"Tell me more?! We know you kissed, but tell me more!!!" Moira said.

"Um, I don't know. It was nice, I guess."

 "Just nice?"

 "Yeah."

 "Well, that's disappointing."

Both Addie and I glared at Moira.

"What? You were thinking it, too!"

As she said that, everyone came back in. Peyton and Nathan were in a corner adding more music to the playlist, Luka and Terence were reading something on Luka's phone, laughing occasionally, and Moira and Addie were talking. It was different than most sleepovers I'd been to. It was happy. There was no drama. No girls crowded around a yearbook pointing at boys while I awkwardly made up a fake crush. One that wasn't Sage.

I looked through the rest of Emma's book. "Why do people do these things? If she ever expects us to forgive her. . ."

Sage frowned. "I don't get it. Why can someone who says such homophobic things bounce right back up and now, suddenly, she's a good person? You can forgive, but I'll never forget that."

"Did she say anything else to you when you came out?"

"Just questions. How could I still be gay, are the pronouns right, that sort of stuff. And then she asked whether you were gay, too."

"And she refers to everyone as 'a gay'. 'Those gays'. It's so. . ."

Sage nodded. "Yeah. I know what you mean."

*All right! Sorry it's kind of short! Also, Nobi, I like that idea about asking questions, like the way you had the song one. Is it okay for me to do something like that, or no? And are you fine if I have characters answer questions about the story? They were just really good ideas.*

Good Friends Part Four

*I'm really sorry, I haven't updated in twelve days. There will be something censored, and there is implied kissing. Implied and very clear, but if you don't want to see kisses, then do not read this part.*

Terence stared at me intently. "Soooo. . ."

I looked up from my coffee and said, "What?"

"Nothing." He stared at Luka. "He's so cute."

I blinked. "I'm not into guys."

"I know. He's just so cute."

I rolled my eyes, but at the same time, I wish I could be that happy with Sage. As friends. Of course.

Luka turned around in his chair to look at Terence and grinned. "Is she coming over to Addie's?"

"Oh, yeah! A few of us are staying over at Addie's."

 "Who?"

"Me, Luka, Moira, Peyton, and Nathan. And of course, Addie."

"I'll talk to Sage about it."

 Luka smirked, and Terence laughed.

 "What?"

 "Nothing."

Once we finished breakfast, we walked around in a garden. Terence took a bunch of group pictures, and finally it was time to go the library.

"So, you know the posters that were up around school?" Moira asked.

 "Yeah. The horrible ones?"

There had been awful posters up around the school saying LGBTQ+phobic things. They were taken down, so then there was writing on the lockers and walls that took too long to scrub off.

Eventually the janitor had given up, which was not okay.

"We're planning on dealing with them," Gemmy said.

Luka nodded. "We'll have posters advertising books by queer authors, telling people to join GSA, quotes, things like that."

We wrote down quotes and books and I sketched out the poster plans. The posters would cover up the slurs on the walls and would replace the other posters.

By the time we had walked home from the library, I had seven sheets of paper rolled up in my bag, and we said good bye to everyone who wouldn't be at Addie's.

Sage and I walked side by side, and I texted my parents, saying that I still had my stuff in my bag from last night.

"What am I going to tell Emma?" Sage asked. "That we hate her?"

 "I don't know."

 "And that book!"

 "I have it with me."

 Sage raised an eyebrow. "Cassie?"

 "We'll write about it later."

Once we arrived at Addie's, I pulled out the book.

Everyone else was eating snacks, but I read it out loud. "Sage is definitely a ****. She likes Cassie. Obviously. Not saying it's not fine, it's just weird. And not safe."

"Nobody understands. . ." Sage said. I hugged them while they continued to read the horrible things.

We looked up once music started to play.

"Guys, I just made this playlist! Wait, I forgot to put 'The Village' in-" Moira said.

Addie grinned and kissed them on the cheek. "Of course you did."

 We showed everyone the book.

"Wait, who wrote this?!" Luka asked. I assumed he was talking about the slurs. "All these things and then, 'I think I'm aromantic?' This makes no sense!"

I shoved it back into my bag. "Our ex-friend. Oh my god, I hate that girl. She thinks it's okay to say those things?! It's not cool to be homophobic, even if you are closeted."

"We can't tell her, though!" Nathan said.

"Yeah, that wouldn't be cool either," Peyton said.

 I groaned into my hands.

*

"So, you like Sage?" Addie asked. Nathan giggled.

 "What."

"It's obvious," Peyton said, not looking up from his phone.

Luka fell off of his chair.

"Is that what you two were laughing about earlier?! I can't believe you!"

I threw my candy at Terence and Luka.

 Terence blinked innocently. "No! Never!"

"No comment. You'll throw a pillow at me," Moira said.

"Is it that obvious?! How do you all know!"

They all screeched in an 'I knew it' way.

Sage, who had clearly been at the bedroom door for a while opened it and said, "What's going on?"

They clearly knew, and we all stopped talking.

They pulled me into the hallway.

"Cass. . .Cassie, I like you too."

I felt like I could both scream and run away at the same time. I smiled really wide, and I think Sage was concerned.

"And you're nice and smart and funny and cute and talented and -"

I blushed more and more every word they said.

"And I've wanted to, like, kiss you, and-"

 "So do I."

"Right now?! Because if you don't want to-"

 It got increasingly awkward.

 "Because I want to, and-"

Suddenly they were really close. We were like that for a few seconds before we heard, "You know the door's open? We've been watching you for a while."

We turned around and closed the door. "Really great moment to do that, people!" I said through the door.

"Sooo. Are we dating now? What's going on?"

"Uh. I'll just make it awkward. . ."

 We burst out laughing.

"I mean, I don't know. We just. . .yeah. So, maybe?"

"It's fine. We'll figure it out," they said. "For now, at least we know that?"

*Okay, so I was internally screaming writing that part, because, yeah, so I hope it was actually good. Oh my god they were so awkward and cute. Loveable weird people. I love it. They didn't even notice each other's crushes. . .Alright, please give me feedback, this took me a while to write, so I hope it was good.*
