If you didn't know, I'm from the country that makes butter chicken (I'm hungry now), and foods with other spices other than salt and pepper(no hate, American food is pretty good honestly). THE MOMENT I walked out of the airport, tell me why it look like A TEMPLE.... And it looks so modern on the inside tho...that not look like airport... Whenever we got to my Grandparents house, it started raining, and it was HOT (this was in the summer, and the last day of summer break for Indian kids, their school starts in May/June). So I went to church the next day, turns out I have 15 cousins who live in the same neighborhood. So they went to my house, and since they don't have phones, they played some goofy games (this was 4 years ago). Ngl they were fun, we also got candy from this shop, and I did not trust this shop, but turns out most shops are like that.... The road looked like it gets a new type of PTSD everyday. One good thing abt Indian are that they are kind to foreigners, BUT not to Indians. Also, turns out they ride elephants, don't ask me how, they liked me, I gave them watermelons. BUT THE FOOD, THE FOOD, THE FOOD,THE FOOD,THE FOOD,THE FOOD,THE FOOD,THE FOOD,THE FOOD,THE FOOD,THE FO- okay you get what I mean. We also went to the hilly region for my b-day, very green, very steep, I jumped down and it took me like 10 seconds for me to finally get down. More elephants, samosas,butter chicken, Indian street food. And then we went back Yeehaw state (texas), ngl the trip was fun, we went for a month.

I finally found one of the Indian husband scams. I don't think this is the original, but they do mention their supposed ex-husband multiple times. It's also funny they're dissing the African scams - friendly fire??

Oh yea and apparently they keep coming back after being banned. HOW DARE we ban these people...

This isn't even the full comment but you get the point...

Also not meant to diss India at all - that;'s just the subject of this post.

So yeah that’s was great.

My aunts a nail designer and she made me like 4 PAIRS OF ACRYLIC NAILS.

So I’m very grateful :)

We went places, met family, saw motorbike crashes, made instagram reels of me rollerblading, watched sonic the hedgehog 3, got food poisoning, joked around with my cousins, improved my Hindi reading, got incredibly homesick, binged watched the Spider-Man movies (Andrew Garfield’s AND Tom Hollands in one day - fell asleep before I could do Tobey maguire), went on rickshaws, ate LOTS of food, did homework cuz I was missing a week of school for this, dyed my hair red streaks there (they do it GOOD there), and slept because if you don’t sleep you die ;)

Erm yeah that’s happened eheh

Most of the photos have my face and icba to scribble it out so I don’t have a lot of photos :(

Atul Dodiya

Mumbai born Atul Dodiya is among the most popular contemporary Indian artists.

His work is also sought after by art enthusiasts.

Some sell in the range of £380,000 (Rs. 3.5 Crores) such as his piece ‘Lodging in Somnath’ which fetched £357,000 (Rs. 3.3 Crores) in 2007.

Dodiya’s paintings are in the same auctions as some of the most important modernists like Tyeb Mehta and Francis Newton Souza.

They are responsible for some of India’s most famous paintings, which have become instantly recognisable among art fanatics.

His artwork engages with both Indian political and art history in a way which will last in the memory of those who view his work.

Bharti Kher

London-born Bharti Kher moved to New Delhi to fully commit to her role as a contemporary artist.

Her work has seen her become one of the most popular contemporary Indian artists.

Kher’s style features a combination of painting, sculpturing and installation.

She often incorporates bindis, the popular forehead decoration worn by Indian women, into her work.

They are mainly of animals and nature.

Her work has received success at global auctions.

Bharti Kher became the top-selling Indian female artist when her piece ‘The Skin Speaks a Language Not Its Own’ sold for £1.1 million (Rs. 103 Crores).

It sold at Sotheby’s London auction in 2010 and surpassed her husband Subodh Gupta’s selling record of £1 million (Rs. 94 Crores).

The same artwork sold in May 2013 for £1.3 million (Rs. 122 Crores), setting a new record for the artist at auction.

Jitish Kallat

The already established contemporary artist creates paintings, sculptures and photography, to name a few of his art formats.

A lot of Kallat’s work is based on his encounters with the multi-sensory environment of Mumbai as well as the events which have contributed to it’s making.

His style highlights his concern for the socio-political history of the city.

Kallat has referenced the ironies of migrant worker’s lives and labourer’s in the cities of India.

People meet on “second class” train compartments, people whose labour continues to keep afloat the nation’s aspirations.

Kallat’s message within his art has increased his international reputation, especially during Sotheby’s New York auction in 2007.

It was the first dedicated sale of Indian contemporary art where Kallat’s auction record was £55,000 (Rs. 55 Lakhs).

Raqib Shaw

The London-based artist shot to international fame at 33.

His piece sold for £2.7 million (Rs. 20 Crores) in 2007, making it the most expensive artwork by an Indian artist.

Before that, Shaw had little recognition outside of London.

Shaw is known for his very detailed paintings of imagined paradises on jewel-like surfaces.

A typical painting by Shaw has many stages.

It begins with drawings on paper, which then is transferred onto a panel.

A stained-glass liner is then applied. The piece is then finished with crystals and glitter for extra ornamentation.

His works echo the styles of European painters Holbein and Bosch.

Shaw brings into the modern day by incorporating different sources.

This includes mythology, poetry, literature and history to name a few of his inspirations.

The long process to create a piece of art shows Shaw’s dedication and his recognition as one of the best Indian contemporary artists is deserved.

One of the most recognised styles of contemporary art, Reddy’s works are some which stand out massively.

His giant female heads fuse together folk sensibilities with the traditions of Hindu sculpture.

Reddy’s inspiration comes from different sources such as ancient Indian and African sculptures.

They also reference the contemporary works of Niki de Saint Phalle, Luis Jimenez and Jeff Koons.

His works are extremely popular on the global stage.

In 2007, one of his sculptures sold for £239,000 (Rs. 2 Crores).

Ravinder Reddy’s work is one of the most unique contemporary art styles, however, it is also one of the most popular.

Shilpa Gupta

Shilpa Gupta has quickly risen to stardom due to her multimedia artforms which have wowed worldwide audiences.

She is a new media artist who has become very popular for addressing different barriers in India in different ways, especially video.

They include gender and social class barriers.

Her interests lie in human perception and how information is transmitted in everyday life, which is shown in her work.

Gupta’s work has received international recognition at auction as some of her pieces have reached prices of £38,000 (Rs. 30 Lakhs).

She is highly sought after and has worked with top art galleries and makes appearances for prestigious contemporary art events.

Despite only being 42, she is well-established as a contemporary Indian artist.

She is popular with both private and public collections.
