What Dissociative Disorder are (A guide to Plurality and What it is)

The question that a lot of people may wonder is, why did I even write this? Well, I noticed that a lot of people don't know what dissociative disorders are, this is not only a learning to Kidztalk users but also help for projects based around disorders and medical work.

What Does Dissociative Mean? What Does it Do to Someone?

Dissociative means when someone has an out of body experience, like you're watching yourself from an 3rd person view, you're basically having a disconnection from your own mind. This is set off by traumatic events that will usually leave gaps in the victim's memory, causing them to forget things they already learned, and experiences leading up to the event to cause said trauma. This makes learning things in school difficult even if it's something they already knew before. Someone with dissociative disorders usually have spilt identities or personalities that are, most of the time, referred to as alters or headmates

What Are the Types?

There are 4 types known of this disorder, yes, there are other disorders that are related to these. If you have a question about these types or would like to know more just comment.

DID (dissociative identity disorder)
DPDR (derealization disorder)
OSDD (other specified dissociative disorder)
UDD (unspecified dissociative disorder)

Basic Terms of Dissociative Disorders

System - Used to refer to the persons identities as a whole.

Singlet - Someone who does not have a dissociative disorder.

Alter/Headmate - Used to refer to personalities.

Endogenic - A system who is caused by no act of trauma, endogenic systems do not exist as you need some kind of trauma to actually be a system.

Tramuagenic - A system who is caused by trauma.

Hey guys! I’m making a short story contest.

Topic: Fantasy/Adventure

Rules: Nothing too gory, no mature themes, no cussing, and basically follow the KS rules.

Due date: December 20^th, 2019, although I may start judging earlier, depending on how many entries I get.

What to do: 1. Write a short story, usually 1-3 pages long. It must all fit in one post.

2. Post it on KidzTalk using the #artistgirl tag, and put the link in the comments of this post. If on KN, also use the hashtag.

3. Cross your fingers and hope to win!

Prizes: First place: a writing request, an art request, and a shout out in my KN bio.

Second place: a shout out in my bio and an art or writing request.

Third place: a shout out in my bio.

SILENS I (BOOK 1: YEAR 1)

Asia Abernathy-Lovegood, halfblood Luna Lovegood's adoptive daughter, and Tom & Lucas Malfoy, the children of pureblood Draco Malfoy and muggleborn Hermione Granger, are going for their first year at Hogwarts! Asia, a street-smart and book-smart girl with many debate awards and knowledge beyond her peers, goes to Hogwarts with intentions of controlling her dark magic that she inherited from her now-dead pureblood Japanese parents. Tom, a born Slytherin with an uncanny aversion to muggleborns, and Lucas, his blind identical twin, are also going to Hogwarts due to similar reasons. When they meet on the Hogwarts Express, they are revealed to a mysterious man-- who seems to have his sights set on them.

Hi guys! For a while, I have been waiting for entries to my short story contest! I haven't gotten very many entries though, so let me explain it to you. Anybody is welcome to enter their original short story to my contest! Just put it in writing contests with the question "AbsoluteOwl's Contest Entry". Your story can be as long or as short as you want, just make it so you can put it all in one post. I'm sorry but poems do NOT count, but I will be holding a poetry contest afterwards. There are no prizes except for bragging rights and knowing that you are an amazing author! I will be awarding a first, second, and third place along with four honorable mentions. The deadline is June 5, 2016. Your story can be any genre you want and I hope to see many different types- from fantasy to mystery, from science fiction to realistic fiction! I hope to see many different authors and genres. I will not be judging on spelling. You may only enter one time. Once we get some more entries going, I will post a daily leaderboard.
