Actress, writer, feminist, and advocate for mental health, Carrie Fisher was more than just Princess Leia, a fictitious Star Wars hero. Born on October 21, 1956 in Beverly Hills, California, Fisher lived to be 60 years old before her death on December 27, 2016. She was flying from London to Los Angeles and had a major heart attack. When the flight landed in California, Fisher was hurried to the hospital in critical condition. Fans all over the world spread hope for her recovery with #maytheforcebewithher. Four days later, however, Carrie Fisher died. Fisher's cause of death was due in part to her struggle with drug and alcohol addiction which had started in the mid 1980s.

Ms. Fisher once said: "There's a part of me that gets surprised when people think I'm brave to talk about what I've gone through. I was brave to last through it."
