My Dimension (chapter 1.2)

Once I get home I go straight to my room to do the thing I love most, drawing. I have drawings all over my wall, on the bookshelf, on the floor, on the ceiling? I don't remember taping that there… After contemplating my ceiling drawing, I grab my sketchbook and start on a new page. I have a bad habit of never finishing, and then I end up with a bunch of half-finished drawings. Now, I think of what to draw. What to draw. Huh. My mind is blank. I'll just come back to drawing later.

I lie in bed for a few minutes, but then I hear my siblings arguing for the millionth time right outside my door. If you ever want someone to argue in your ear until it falls off, my siblings are the people for the job. Get away. I need to get away. I pack a few snacks into a tote bag, get on my shoes, and walk out the front door. I live pretty close to a lake, so I just walk there. There's this tree near the lake, and it's just perfect to sit under. I take my seat right under its twisty branches, and I start eating an apple I brought.

After a few minutes, I see my friend, Lucas. He comes and sits next to me under the tree.

"Hey Sonja," he says. He takes a small bag of pretzels from my bag and starts eating. "So… how do you think you did on that test?" He asks while stuffing pretzels in his mouth.

I roll my eyes and take the bag of pretzels back. "First of all, these are my pretzels, and second of all, that test was horrific. I think I've set the record for lowest score." I answer in an annoyed tone. I become more aggravated when I see he is trying to refrain from laughing. I decide to give him the side eye, which just makes him burst out in laughter.

"Sonja!" He says while laughing. "That was the easiest test ever, and I-" Then, when he sees I'm not laughing back, he regains his composure and sits against the tree. "Oh, my bad. I thought you were being sarcastic about the test. If it makes you feel any better, my friend told me not to tell anyone, but he didn't know any of the answers. You at least knew some of them, right? So don't worry too much about it." He sits still, waiting for my response, but I don't say anything. I'm too lost in thought. "Sonja, are you okay?" Lucas looks at me with a concerned look, his brown eyes wide in curiosity.

I nod my head yes, and close my eyes. "I'm doing fine. I'm just kind of tired." I listen to the wind rustling the leaves above and tune out everything else. I grab a piece of my blond hair and twirl it around in my fingers, finding it relaxing how it goes around and around and around and around- and now someone is tapping my arm.

"Sonja, can't you hear me? I've called your name about five times." Lucas expresses in a soft but slightly irritated voice.

I decide I'm done with Lucas today, get up, grab my bag, and start walking away. "Well, maybe I can hear you better tomorrow. See you later." Can't I find peace and quiet anywhere? I walk further into the forest, where I've never been. As I'm going my way, I hear a certain person walking behind me. "Lucas! I just want quiet time right now!" I say a little louder than I should have. I regret it immediately as I discern the hurt registering on his face.

Lucas looks at me worriedly. "Yeah, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have followed you." He starts to turn to walk away.

I feel extremely bad now, and well, maybe I do want a little company after all. "Wait. It's okay, you can come, as long as you're not too annoying." I want to apologize too for raising my voice, but the words don't come out of my mouth. It's like those simple words are stuck in my throat. Hoping he doesn't care too much, I start walking again and motion for him to follow.

Lucas puts on a small smile and catches up towards me.

‐-------------------------------------------------------------

So... second part of first chapter! Still, nothing interesting has really happened, but, hey, maybe next chapter???

My Dimension (chapter 1.1)

I run through the forest, lost, trying to find my family. I yell for them, but nothing happens. The trees start moving around me, caving in towards me, saying they'll get me and-

My alarm starts blasting, and I reach over to shut it off. Maybe just a few more minutes of sleep. I need it, but at the same time, I don't know how many more of these bad dreams I can handle. They're every. single. time. I go to sleep. Always something about being separated from my family and the people I love.

After lying around for a few minutes, not being able to sleep, I start contemplating my life. I live in Ocala, Florida, I'm 16 years old, my dad's from Sweden and my mom's Thai. I have a friend named- Wait, go back a few thoughts. 16? That's old. I feel like a grandma at the moment, but even grandmas can't catch a break sometimes and have to get ready for school.

I eat breakfast, get school clothes on, brush my teeth, and finish getting ready for school. School. My most dreaded place. School is assuredly the root of my anxiety and all my problems in life, so if I ever cause you problems, blame it on school.

I start to walk out the door when my mom calls me, "Sonja, did you take out the trash?!" Oh. The trash. Right, today is Friday. I sigh and reluctantly take out the trash and my mom reprimands my "rotten attitude." Before I can walk out the door again, she kisses my forehead and I give her a hug. While sometimes my mom doesn't always make me feel like the most ecstatic person, I still love her.

I get in my car and start driving to school. I just earned my driver's license a few months ago, so I'm still getting the hang of things. A few times I've almost crashed, but I didn't, so it doesn't really matter, right? I do a little karaoke while no one else is in the car. I mean, why not? If I'm going to sound like a dying donkey, it may as well be now.

Eventually, I arrive at school, aka jail for kids. I walk in to perceive the wonderful sight of snobby teenagers who side eye me as I walk the hall. Ever since I started going here, people either ignore me or look at me weird. Is it because I'm the only introvert in a pool of extroverts? To be fair, most of them are involved in drugs and all that, so maybe that's normal for them to look at me weird? Sometimes, I just feel like people either pay no attention to me, or they give me the wrong kind of attention, like how someone spread a rumor about me stealing some girl's expensive perfume and I almost got expelled (even though I didn't do it). I think everyone here just… doesn't get along well with me. I guess everyone except my friend, Lucas. Lucas and I have been friends since third grade. We always partner up for projects, and I'm glad to have someone who isn't revolted at the sight of me. I've been friends with Lucas for quite a while now. From third grade to eleventh. Wow. I'm still in shock that I even have a friend, though even me and Lucas don't always get along sometimes.

I walk to my first class, US history. I find history extremely vapid and uninspiring, but I work through it. I see Lucas stroll in the room from the corner of my eye. He waves at me, and I wave back. He sits down in his seat and starts studying. He's usually not the type to study, so I'm slightly surprised. I look at my homeroom teacher, Mr. Lee, who's writing something on the board. I try to make out the letters, which I should be using my glasses for, but I don't like the way they fit on my face. I eventually make out what the board says. "Test Day." Oh shoot. Test. Test that I didn't study for. Test that I completely forgot about. I'm already in a bad mood, and it just got worse. Well, I give up. I'm going to fail it anyway, so what's the point of studying? I rest my head on my desk until class starts.

I go through history class… and take my test. I already know that I failed, but there's always next time to study. I go through the rest of my classes, and the day seems to get slower each hour.

---------------------------------------------------------------

I haven't written anything in sooooo long, so it feels nice to do this. I felt like chapter one was really long, so I split it up into two parts! I'll post the next part right after. The story is a little boring right now, I know, but trust me, it will get more interesting. I already have everything planned out, and there's a lot that's gonna happen. Bear with me, okay?

Alr, I'm gonna go post the second half now, and please vote for how long you think the length of the chapters should be!
My Dimension (by imnayeon) new story coming soon!

Hey! I just wanna share with you guys that I will be releasing the first chapter to a book I'm making soon (planning on releasing the first chapter before Friday this week)! I have the storyline planned out, but not everything is set in stone yet. Here's some info:

The main character is Sonja Hallstrom, a Swedish-Thai 16 year old girl who lives in Ocala, Florida, USA (I've been to Ocala to visit family before, so I know a little about it). I'm not gonna say anything else cause I don't wanna spoil too much!

I'm almost finished with the first chapter, but I want to get some more done before I release it! Also, I'm very impressed with the stories you guys put out. So many of you are fantastic writers!

Teenage Behaviour May Be a Cry for Help

Whеn a person,of any аgе, іѕ ѕtrugglіng wіth mеntаl health issues they mау рrеfеr to kеер іt рrіvаtе, аntісіраtіng that іt соuld be rеgаrdеd as a ѕіgn оf wеаknеѕѕ, роtеntіаllу thrеаtеnіng their futurе сhоісеѕ, frіеndѕhірѕ аnd ԛuаlіtу оf lіfе. Thеу may аdорt a stiff upper lір, not wаntіng to disclose hоw vulnerable оr frаgіlе they're асtuаllу fееlіng. Hоwеvеr, thіѕ аррrоасh rаrеlу іmрrоvеѕ anything and bottling things uр саn sometimes cause рrоblеmѕ tо escalate.

Untіl wе'rе affected оr lоѕе someone сlоѕе wе rаrеlу hаvе аnу idea of the ѕtаggеrіng ѕtаtіѕtісѕ аrоund mеntаl hеаlth, stress аnd ѕuісіdе. Evеrу 40 seconds ѕоmеоnе іn thе world dies bу suicide аnd іt'ѕ ѕtіll thе bіggеѕt kіllеr оf men under 45 іn the UK! Wе'vе rесеntlу had some significant dіаrу reminders; Grіеf Awareness Dау, World Suicide Prevention Dау, thе аnnіvеrѕаrу оf thе Twіn Towers, World Mental Health Day, аll dауѕ that rеmіnd uѕ оf life's fragility аnd thе importance оf supporting еасh оthеr.

There аrе ways we help bоth ourselves аnd оthеrѕ to lіvе a mоrе 'in touch' lіfе. Lеt'ѕ ѕtаrt bу considering уоung people, whо оftеn hаvе so muсh gоіng оn іn their lives. Fеаr оf mіѕѕіng оut is оftеn a fасtоr, as frіеndѕ роѕt on ѕосіаl mеdіа іmаgеѕ оf their busy, amazing lіvеѕ. Lіttlе matter thаt those іmаgеѕ аrе posed, edited аnd dіѕрlауеd fоr рublіс consumption. A уоung реrѕоn mау ѕіmрlу ѕее thеіr frіеndѕ as being happier, more рорulаr аnd ѕuссеѕѕful than thеm.

Thеу mау be іn a сіrсlе where they're being bullied, feel іnfеrіоr, оѕtrасіѕеd, dіffеrеnt. Thеу mау be struggling with thеіr sexuality, іdеntіtу, concerned about what thеіr futurе сhоісеѕ аnd орtіоnѕ соuld bе. If thеу'rе unfаvоurаblу соmраrіng thеmѕеlvеѕ tо оthеr fаmіlу mеmbеrѕ іt can be tоugh іf thеу'rе feeling a fаіlurе аnd dоn't want to be a disappointment.

Some bad bеhаvіоur mау bе раrt оf thе jоb dеѕсrірtіоn for bеіng a tееnаgеr, but nоnеthеlеѕѕ, it's іmроrtаnt to kеер іn touch wіth thеіr lives.

- Pау аttеntіоn. Is thе young реrѕоn bеhаvіng differently, іѕ there a сhаngе in thеіr аttіtudе? Hаvе they bесоmе аngrу, moody, silent, are thеу gоіng out lеѕѕ often, ѕреndіng mоrе tіmе іn their rооm? Sоmеtіmеѕ young реорlе don't wаnt tо wоrrу, uрѕеt or dіѕарроіnt their nеаrеѕt аnd dеаrеѕt. But that саn further аdd to thеіr stress lеvеlѕ as they fіght tо соре аnd ѕtау strong.

- Try to regularly ѕіt and еаt tоgеthеr so the fаmіlу bond is rеіnfоrсеd. Alѕо іt provides thе орроrtunіtу tо nоtісе if something іѕ 'off', іf thеіr арреtіtе hаѕ changed, if thеу'vе bесоmе wіthdrаwn оr unhарру.

- Trеаt еасh as аn individual аnd do things ѕераrаtеlу rаthеr than always wіth 'thе kіdѕ'. Rеѕресt thеіr uniqueness. Thаt way уоu support them in dеvеlоріng and bесоmіng thеіr оwn person.

- Tеасh thеm to рrасtіѕе grаtіtudе. Cultivate the hаbіt оf being thаnkful fоr a lеаѕt 3 things each day. Sоmеоnе gіvіng thеm a соmрlіmеnt, thе fact thаt there's runnіng wаtеr, thеу'vе fооd on thе tаblе can bе a ѕtаrt.

- Ensure there are opportunities for 'lіght' conversations, rаthеr than sit dоwn, mоrе fоrmаl ones. Chаttіng whilst уоu'rе cooking оr driving саn gооd tіmеѕ for, 'уоu ѕееm a little ԛuіеtеr rесеntlу', tуре conversations. A саѕuаl talk саn bе mоrе bеnеfісіаl thаn a full-оn іntеrvіеw аnd allow them to dіѕсuѕѕ what's оn their minds.

- Prоvіdе space fоr thеm to ѕреаk with freedom. It can bе tempting tо finish thеіr ѕеntеnсеѕ оr second-guess what thеу'rе thіnkіng, but еvеn companionable ѕіlеnсе can sometimes bе fine when it allows tіmе fоr rеflесtіоn аnd processing whаt'ѕ hарреnіng іntеrnаllу.

KidzNet is Now Open...

We are opening up KidzNet as a beta release. You will only find a link to it on the KidzTalk menu for now near the end/bottom menu. You can also just click on https://net.kidzsearch.com to get to it. Once things look stable, we will have it integrated into the main KidzSearch menu. This initial version has only basic features, but we will be rolling out more things over time. You can look at it as a safe fully moderated Social Network, similar to Facebook in concept, for kids of all ages.

A few important points.

1.) You need signup for a new KidzNet account, even if you have a KidzTalk account. Be sure to enter your parent's e-mail. Usernames can only have letters and numbers. Passwords need to be over 5 characters. No spaces or special symbols in the username are allowed.

2.) Once you signup, an e-mail will be sent to the address you used. A confirmation link must be clicked on before the account can be activated.

3.) We will be very strict with personal information. You cannot post personal pictures, full names, or anything else that can identify a person. Everything you post gets reviewed first. If we see personal information it will be deleted. Posting repeated personal information can cause your account to be deleted.

4.) We highly suggest you upload your Avatar and Cover picture. For now, you may only be able to do this on a desktop computer. Profile picture uploads are not working properly on many tablets/mobile devices. We are working to fix this issue.. If you need help, just post the Avatar and Cover picture you want here and we can get it updated for you. Absolutely no personal pictures will be allowed. You can see the KS profile here:

https://net.kidzsearch.com/u/kidzsearch

Notice that profile pages have a /u/ at the end, which is important.

5.) Your posts can be seen and read by different types of people based on where and how you post them. Posts made in the News Feed main section are seen by everyone. Posts made on your Timeline/Wall (where you have your cover picture) are only seen by your friends when they go to their News Feed. News Feed posts can be public or private. You can also form public and private groups. You need to Friend a person and they must accept your friend request to see friend posts. The best way to learn to use it is by trying it out. It should be intuitive for the most part.

6.) All posts are moderated, so it could take some time for your content to be approved so others can see it. However, you will be able to immediately see anything you post if you are logged into your account.

If you see any problems or have questions, please post them to us on KidzTalk or KidzNet.

Very big problem, please see KS!

I wrote a diary entry or a story on this question: www.kidzsearch.com/questions/16423/minzil-dec-4-1920?show=16423#q16423 and what only came out was the first sentence whereas I wrote, like, 6 sentences. Is this because all the words couldn't fit in one post or what? Also, when I hover over the question, it shows the full post, but when I click on it, it doesn't? Can you please help? Thanks!
