Lorekeeper, Wit of Shifting Worlds: CHAPTER 10

Chapter 10

“Where are you going?” a mysterious voice asked from being me. I looked behind me, no one was there but I didn’t bother to look the other direction. I was in the school hallway, empty as everyone was in their classes. I came to a good reasoning, which would be the voice as a teacher that I didn’t know. “I have a hall pass.” I confidently said. “That’s not what I’m looking for Ember,” its voice was of a woman’s.

“WHO ARE-” I stopped look behind me, no one was there and the feeling someone had there left me. I looked down in confusion, as I thought it was only my imagination. I looked around one more time before continuing my walk down the hallway. It started feeling colder. The curtains o the windows down the halls shuttered tight. I gulped as I heard the same voice hum. It was only a light hum. I could barely hear it, but it was still there.

The, I started running. Running down the halls were a bad thing to do in school but, no one was a around it seemed like the right thing to do. As soon as I got to class, I slammed the door tightly as the teacher a student look at me. “Don’t slam the door like that. You’re late.” She said holding up her math book while writing on the chalk board. Her hair fell from her ponytail, and she had black hair and dark brown as that seemed the wander around the class room looking for a kid to suspend. She had wrinkles too, ones that covered her face with wisdom.

I walked to my seat, putting my bookbag on my chair. The class looked at me for a little before the teacher snapped, “Pay attention!” she yelled. The class quickly looked at the teacher, her eyes squinting. After a few minutes of boredom, the bell rang as we were excused. I flung my bookbag over my arm, hurrying out of class.

After a few classes, I was finally done with school. I saw Allie. She fast-walked over to me as her black hair swooshed around as she ran to me. “Hey! Ember!” she yelled.

“Yeah? How are you?’ I asked, starting a conversation.

“I’m okay. It’s been weird lately…” I had to agree with Allie. Afterall, touching the vines? I didn’t understand any of it and going to technical sources didn’t work. Why would I plant seeds there? My father wouldn’t do it. Who was that voice? Why do I always feel like someone’s watching me?

“Hey, um, today, when I was going to class, I heard these voices and weird stuff happened. And vines, there were vines! When I broke my arm and couldn’t remember very well. I don’t know what’s happening but, any strange stuff happening to you?” I said. Allie’s eyes turned bright. “I saw something, it was calling to me. It was a plant-like figure. I couldn’t really make up what it was.” She said, terrifying the both of us together.

“Why is it always plant related? Maybe it’s a plant spirit?” I asked her, unsure what to do.

“That sounds like a fantasy but, call me insane, but I have to agree.” We both were confused, I could tell. It, she, whatever it was, was calling out for us in a manner I couldn’t point my finger on. I knew I couldn’t tell my father, I knew he wouldn’t believe us. It was up to us now to figure out what it was.

Sorry for the bad grammar and it's so short! I hope you like it!

She knows it. I know she does. I’m watching her.

Yes,I am the one that made her touch the vine! I made it beckon to her. Call to her. Maybe even hypnotize her? But she needed to discover her true power, and she had to find out herself. Hey,it’s not my fault she’s a nymph! I want to protect my baby, and keep her safe from her stupid human father. Anyway, she will have to discover what she is on the inside. To keep her safe. And let her stay with me.
LoreKeeper, Wit Of Shifting Worlds (Chapter 8)

Chapter 8

“You know Ember,” it whimpered.

‘I have a place for you, in the shadows, with your friends. It always lies to me, but not you, no, too innocent for isolation. All too weak.’ The female voice growled at the end. Her voice was raspy and overcame with hatred and anger.

I woke up from what seemed like a trance, I had sweat all over me and above me was my cousin, a little girl that was 9-years-old. Her name was Lalitya. I noticed some huge splinters on me. “Ouch!” I lightly said to myself, but my cousin didn’t pay attention to me. Her smile would always make the room have a warm feeling. “What are you doing in my room?” I asked as calm as I could her. Her eyes were like puppy dog’s eyes. “Can you help me with something?” I sighed. She was too hard to resist, after all, most small children are to me.

“What do you need help with?” she wore a pink shirt and leggings, she was “forced” to wear bright stuff by me, I would never let her go out being an emo. Plus, she’s nine, emo kids can be the worst. “I need some sweets, from the kitchen!” she jumped. “What?! No! You have to go to school anyways, follow me.” I quickly had gotten dressed and put my messy bun in as always.

She pouted, it was hard to see her desperate for it. Despite her age, she is a mature, she just gets what she wants when she wants. “Alright, it’s late enough, it’s 6:00! I have to get you to school, NOW!” I snapped almost. It was usual for me to be mad at her though.

“Okay…” she had her puppy dog eyes again, but I ignored them the best I could.

I went to the bathroom to quickly take the splinters out, and once I did so, me and Lalitya was off.

I quickly had gone out to the hot sun, holding Lalitya’s hand. Father was already off to work considering he was at the edge of getting fired. He had to stay longer, which was harder for me, considering I’m like a mother to my cousin. The Elementary school she was in, right by the middle school I was in. “Hello!” she ran over to one of her friends as they hugged. “Have a good day at school!” I ran over to my middle school, hoping I wasn’t late. I saw Allie’s eyes light up when she saw me. But, she seemed scared, like she had saw something scary.

“What happened?” I asked, but she seemed like she didn’t want to tell.

“Look, you can tell me anything, trust me!” I hugged her, as she began to speak. “I saw...something strange yesterday.” She nervously said. Her eyes had bags under them, so did mine but, hers was bigger. “What?” I calmly asked again. “It was something that-looked like a plant. It was so strange.”

I started getting visions. Visions of tree like figures. Tree like figure that were human, only one though, and the shape was like me. Visions of something calling out, but the visions were blurry.

“Ember?”

“Ember?”

“Hello?”

I snapped out of my trance to realize the bell was ringing for first period. “Look, I have to go.” I said, scared. “Talk after class?!” she yelled back to me when I was leaving. “Yeah, sure!”

I feared what she saw, it was connecting each of us. Maybe it was the reason I found splinter while I woke up?

A/N: So, here's a new chapter!

Lorekeeper Chapter 7

“Allie? Are you okay up there?” My loving mother questioned.

“Uh-Oh yeah, I’m alright.”

“Are you sure you don’t want to talk about what happened today?” That was my father.

“Well... yes. I’d like to keep it to myself if you don’t mind.” I replied courteously. I said a quick good-bye to my adoptive parents and then sat on my bed for a few minutes. Yesterday had been so.... weird.

When I had said goodbye to Ember after school yesterday, she had looked perfectly normal and happy. But when Phoenix had found out that Ember had collapsed on the floor for some reason and we had rushed to the hospital to meet her, her face had been so pale and sickly looking. Just thinking about it made me shiver.

The weird thing was, Ember had refused to tell anyone what had happened. At first, we had just assumed that it was because she was so light headed. By the time she went home, however, she had been almost in her right mind and looking much healthier. It was too... mysterious to think about.

I sighed once more and then sat up to do my math homework. Today was a free Saturday, so I had planned on finishing up most of my homework and then writing one of my many stories or reading a book the rest of the day. Ember was supposed to be recovering, and it felt too weird to just hang out with Phoenix after all that had happened.

Speaking of Phoenix, another mystery was why she was so hungry looking and refused to tell any grown-ups about the fact that she was an orphan. Instead of signing this time, however, I stood up and trotted over to my chrome book and opened it. As I was about to start my math assignment, something greenish yellowish in the corner of the screen caught my eye.

“What in the world...” I breathed slowly. All at once, I heard a rustling sound behind mem and turned around to see a giant tree-like thing climbing out of the walls. I started to scream, but something-I’m not sure what- stopped me. It seemed as if a soothing voice was calling out to me... beckoning me. It wanted me to touch the vine. Without any hesitation, I obeyed.

LoreKeeper, Wit of Shifting Worlds (Chapter 6)

Chapter 6

I had woken up from my father’s cold hands touching mine.

“D-dad?” My eyes were heavy, and my voice was raspy. “It’s okay Ember, you just broke your arm.” He said calmly. As if just broken my arm wasn’t bad. “Your friends are here,” he pointed to the girl I just met and some other girl. “How-How’d I get here?” I asked, afraid. “We found you with your arm all bloodied up,” one of them responded, I couldn’t tell who from my weak state.

I noticed there was something on my arm, it was white but stained from blood. There was a tall nurse that was examine my arm. She smiled at me coldly. “Tell me if this hurt,” she calmly said. She started bending my arm both ways. “Don’t worry, it’s not bone decay.” The nurse said to my worry filled father. “Good.” I held my hand tighter. “We’ll be home soon, okay?” he smiled brightly.

“Your awfully nice friends need a thank you, don’t they? And little girl, where are you from?” he asked. “We got into contact with the other girl’s parents but not yours.” My dad said. “Um, my parents said I could be here.” I noticed it seemed like she was lying. “Are you sure?” asked my dad, certain she was lying too. It seemed Phoenix knew. “Well, whatever, I’m sure we’ll be able to get you home.” My father kindly assisted. “NO!” she struck. My Father’s eyes were led off to a jump and was confused but didn’t mind. “I mean, I have my own ride.”

I could barely remember anything, the girl, Phoenix had slipped my mind. I could barely open my eyes wide enough, my heart raced, and I could barely breath. My arm was aching. I couldn’t remember what happened.

But then, memories had quickly come back. I remember being in my room, the plants in my phone growing bigger. I remember that now, I don’t have a phone because of it. All of it seemed unreal, like a fantasy; a dream made by my mind. “Alright Ember, you’re all ready to go. That broken arm of yours will heal in a few weeks.” The nurse helped me up.

Once I had gotten out of the hospital, my friends had given me a pat. “So, where are you from?” Allie asked. “Well, here in Texas but I’ve lived in Wales. I just moved from there.” I smiled back at them. “Wales? That’s a long way away.” They laughed. We had a good time chatting, but that all ended as Phoenix and Allie left my side as I parted ways with them. “Bye!” they said at once. “C’ya at school!” I went in my Father’s car, which was an old car that barely worked.

“Father?” I gave my Father puppy dog eyes. “What do you want?” he sighed.

“Well, see, I broke my phone.” I said as sweetly as I could. “You what?! You know how expensive those things are!” he yelled. “I know, I know, but I’m just saying.”

“Well you better be ‘just saying’, because I’m not buying you a new one anytime soon.”

A/N: I hope ya liked it. It's Ammy K's turn now!

Chapter 5 LoreKeeper (to be continued)

https://www.kidzsearch.com/questions/40928/lorekeeper-chapter-5?show=40928#q40928

“GAHHH!!!”yelled a voice behind me. Phoenix and I turned around and saw Ember laying on the glass floor, with her eyes closed and her arm bleeding. Phoenix gasped, and a few moments later,Ember was being carried in a huge white pram.

Phoenix still seemed to stay calm in the situation, but I was freaking out. Ember and I had known each other since 1st grade! What if she wasn’t ok? What if she loses her memory? What if… Questions ran through my head as I waved goodbye slowly and nervously to Dr.Crawford. This was big news for me and I prayed that my best friend would be alright. Phoenix kept hugging me telling me that it was all going to be okay, but I wasn’t so sure about that.

Lorekeeper Chapter 5

I sighed thoughtfully as the bus pulled away from the school and headed for its first stop. It had been a long day, but meeting Ember had made it so much better. It suddenly occurred to me that I had never actually had a friend like her before. I mean, there were some kids that I had known since preschool, but they never asked to come over to my house, or related to my problems, or laughed no matter how dumb the jokes I made were. It felt good to have a friend like Ember, and I somehow knew that we were going to go through a lot together.

Just then, I heard a clatter from the back of the crowded bus. Turning around swiftly, I was just in time to dodge a crudely made paper airplane whizzing past my head. Unfortunately, the girl in front of me, was not.

"Ouch!" She yelped, sending the older boys in the back, who had thrown the airplane at her, to burst in to bullying laughter. The girl in front of me looked as if she was about to cry, but she held her tears back and ignored them as best as she could. When I got a closer look at her face, she looked tired and hungry, so I offered her my extra sandwich that I always kept in my backpack.

"I hope you like jelly and almond butter. My mom's allergic to peanuts."

At first, she looked frightened, then extremely grateful.

"Thank you. My name is Phoenix. What's yours?" Phoenix and I chatted the rest of the way to my bus stop, and I soon felt a deep connection with her because neither one of us had ever met our real parents. Although it had felt good to become friends with Ember, it felt even better to have two real friends.

I know this is short, but I want cookie_Monster to get to decide what happens next. Writing this story with you guys is sooooooooo fun!!!!!!!

LoreKeeper, Wit Of Shifting Worlds Chapter 4

LoreKeeper Chapter 4

The pale girl with dark black hair had smiled at me. Her smile hit me, I knew we would be great friends. Plus, I needed company, it’s always just been me and my dad: nothing more, nothing less. Having a friend would be nice. “So, Ember’s the name?” she grinned. I nodded. We were walking down the walls of school as they filled with chattering.

“That’s a nice name.”

“Thanks, yours too. It’s unique.” I complimented her as she did me. “Hmm, how old are you anyway?” she asked. “13,” I responded quietly. “Me too!” she said excitedly. “It’s nice to meet someone who looks my age,” she whispered to me, as I let out a giggle.

Then, the bell rang as I looked over to her. “I have to go…It was nice meeting you, for sure!” I ran to class, knowing that wasn’t allowed, I still did so. My hair had fallen out of my bun, leaving messy hair. While everyone was in class, the teacher had sighed, “How come you always late?” he asked as I heard snickers. “This class is dull, I have better thing to do,” I then sat down at the teacher impatiently started teaching the eager class.

I wasn’t paying attention to what the teacher was saying until he had spoken the words of, “Mrs. Ember, mind showing the class what you can do?” I looked at the students all looking at me. I nodded in fear. This was math, not something I was good at. “Yeah, yeah sure,” I coughed a bit.

“The area of the square on the board is 154?” I questioned my answer. “The surface mats? You already know what the surface mat is?” The teacher had a voice crack.

“Yes, yes I do.” I confidently said, challenging the teacher. “You’re correct Miss Ember.” The bell then rang, hopefully enough, so I ran out of the classroom as quickly as I could. I saw my new friend, as for the rest of the day we were together chattering on and on about whatever we felt like.

Once I had gotten home, I saw my Father with his eyes droopier than ever. “Bad day at work?” I asked as I threw my backpack on the couch. “You guessed it,” He said. He looked at some bills that had come in. “Ember,” he gave out a big sigh as I came back down the stairs. “Yes, Father?”

“Nothing,” he walked to his room with the bills hanging from his hands. It was a beautiful spring day, I enjoyed it more than ever. The birds were singing, the world was buzzing, but my dad’s attitude would bring all that down.

I then went to my room as I looked at my electronic. I looked in confusion. It wasn’t working, my phones weren’t working. I then opened it. It had vines crawling inside of it. I was in confusion. I then touched the vines, and they started to grow slightly. I threw it to the ground, scared.

Chapter 3 of LoreKeeper

Chapter 3

                         Phoenix

I sat down on the hard, solid rock underneath the tree in my backyard. My sketchbook was filled with drawings of pirates, aliens, and flowers, some that I had drawn way back, including the picture of Peter Pan dancing with TinkerBell. I don’t know why I am interested in drawing mythical creatures so much. The movement of the pencil, the shading of the picture, and the imagination that I put into my drawing, that makes me feel amazing. I was finishing my last lines when I heard a strange voice coming from nowhere.

Phoenix! Where are you,my dear?! PHOENIX!

The sound had startled me,causing me to drop my pencil and my sketchbook on the grass. I looked around to check whether this was a prank, but I didn’t see anyone. It was just me in the huge field of grass and trees. Frightened,I ran back to the orphanage with the speed of lighting. I hopped into bed and covered myself with my white blanket.

“What’s wrong,Phoenix?” someone suddenly asked. I automatically realized it was Lily,a 4 year old who has been in the orphanage for a short time. I blushed a little, because I was too embarrassed to be hiding under the covers in front of a toddler who can barely walk.

Suddenly, the door opened and Lily and I stood up straight and made eye contact with the lady who entered the room,Mrs.Dawn. She had bushy eyebrows and puffy curls, making her look like a walking baby. Mrs.Dawn was also very strict about everything. Having a snack before lunch would make a child have no food for a week. Mrs.Dawn gave me a stern look with her dark green eyes which made me have a sudden gulp.

“Stop acting like a baby and get back to work. Where were you?”

My body shivered as I moved my lips and stuttered a statement. “Miss...I-I…” I try to say. Mrs.Dawn yelled directly at me. “What, you think you are so smart? You can’t get away with anything. Go and give me your clothes.” I walk to my closet and open the doors. I hand Mrs.Dawn a gown and a T-Shirt saying ‘I don’t trip. I do random gravity checks’. Mrs.Dawn snatched the clothes right out of my hands that I almost fell down on the dusty, gray floor. “No food for a whole month. You will starve.”she says. Then Mrs.Dawn laughed and dragged Lily away somewhere else. No food? Ha! I can just buy lunch! I thought. I sat on my bed and wrote my escape plan on my secret diary. Chuckling,I wrote:

Operation 25: The Thumbnail Act

Lorekeeper-Chapter 2

I stumbled down the stairs, blinking from the sudden exposure to bright light.
"You guys are up already?" I asked sleepily when I saw my parents in the kitchen downstairs.
"Of course honey, it's 7:45. Why the funny look?"
"Oh gosh! I've got to take a shower and brush my hair, and my teeth, and make my bed, and....." I was still listing tasks when I hopped into the shower- and promptly hopped back out.
"Oh, sorry Allie! I forgot to tell you that there's something wrong with the water heater." My mother called from downstairs when she heard my yelp.
"Oh great, just great." I mumbled under my breath.

When I finally grabbed my backpack and made it to the bus stop, I realized that I was too late for the bus. Well, I guess that's what happens when you for some reason get up way too late and then discover that there is no hot water.

Of course, my parents aren't actually my parents. Their my adoptive parents. You see, when I was little, like two or three, my real parents disappeared or something like that. I don't ever remember meeting them, and all my adoptive parents know about them is that people thought they were very peculiar.

I say ‘Of course' (At the beginning of the last paragraph. Look back a little while.) because we look absolutely nothing alike. First of all, both my parents have blonde hair, while my straight, jet-black hair creates a striking contrast. Also, my adoptive father has light brown eyes and my mother possesses beautiful ice-blue eyes. I have dark green eyes. I know what your thinking. It's very strange to look look like that.

Oh, and it gets better (Or worse, it depends on your opinion.) I was also born with almost paper-colored skin. If I was an actress, I am almost positive that I would have starred in last year's school production of Snow-White. I'm also about 90% sure that my skin is paler than Snow-White's. I mean, have you seen the illustrations of her in those kids' fairy tale books? I kept on thinking about all this until I checked my watch and then decided that I would have to run the rest of the way to school. I did.

Hope you guys like it! Cookie_Monster is writing the next chapter from Phoenix's point of view. I can't wait to hear it!

Lorekeeper, Wit of Shifting Worlds: Chapter One

Lorekeeper Chapter 1

I’m a thirteen-year-old girl that loves adventures, steampunk, and machines. I have red hair, blue eyes, and light freckles. I like spring when the flowers blossom and all you can ever do is watch. Some foul things in this earth take you away from things like this. And that’s why I’m always alone.

I look around my pale blue room with airplanes and war artifacts. My favorite one would be the compass. My mother was in the military, though she’s retired now. She looks much like me, and she has many scars. Though, I don’t see her anymore considering she has her own path. I only see her once a few years, and when I do, it’s all filled with hatred. I live with my father, who is a historian. That’s one of the reasons why my room is filled with many strange artifacts.

My father is a kind man, he always loved helping people, but he’s always dull and tiring. He has long, dark bags under his eyes, and he has glasses with droopy eyes. I take care of myself, I clean the house, cook sometimes, etc. Though my father is a great father: he works hard and is never a disappointment.

It’s the morning, and the morning would usually be me waking up and getting some coffee. As I woke up, hair was messy. I walked to my bathroom, which is just down the hallway, and brushed and then put it in a ball. After I did so, I headed downstairs to see my father ready to get to work.

“Good morning Ember,” he sighed.

“Good morning father. How was your morning?” I asked casually. He gave me and a tired look.

“I didn’t want to get out of bed, but-I-have-to.” I watched his lips move slowly.

“Same here, school is tiring,” I agreed to his utter torment.

“Have a good day at school,” he went out of the door and snatched his suitcase. He hopped in his car and drove away. I then fixed myself some coffee and after I was done drinking that, I rushed out of the house and rode my old, blue bike to school as every morning.

It was a bright, hot day. Which I’m usually fond of. After getting to school, I headed to class after the bell rang. I walked into class, being late in all. The teacher, being a blond with wrinkles and short hair, had given a stare that would most likely mean ‘You’re late’, I brushed it off and sat in my seat. I took out my notebook and wrote in it.

I had then drawn engines with a ballpoint pen. I didn’t notice it, but the teacher was looking down at me while she was walking around the class. It was always stressful when the teacher would watch you work. “It seems Ember doesn’t want to pay attention?” she said, embarrassing me in front of the whole class.

I heard a few voices laugh. “Oh, you think it’s funny?” she said to those few people. “It won’t be after I…,” she thought for a moment, which made her seem stupid. Lucky enough, the bell had rung. I stormed out, I was quicker than ever to get out of the class.

“Bye Mrs. Lennon,” I rushed out after my goodbye to my awfully strict teacher.

After class, I was by my locker with my bookbag. “Hi!” I heard a voice say. I looked behind me to see a girl about my age. “My names Phoenix, what’s yours?” she said. “Mine is…Ember.” I replied to her with a smile. “Want to be my friend?” she asked politely. “Sure!” I quickly said. Her face lit up, and so did mine.

Sorry, it's so short! Also, I would like to know more on how the characters look. Can't wait till another chapter. It's Ammy K.'s turn to write one, I believe.

LoreKeeper:Wit of Shifting Worlds (Prophecy)

It shall be then, when the air turns into dust, The Wise Ones shall bring forth an age of lawlessness and the dawn of fairies and nymphs.

What does it mean? Who are the Wise Ones? What does it mean of “Age of lawlessness”? 5 centuries ago, Queen Elegarda’s daughter had found the prophecy behind a broken mirror. Queen Elegarda could not find out the meaning of this sacred scroll, nor can her guards. Fairies and nymphs back then were whispering about “The Wise Ones” and “the dawn of fairies and nymphs”. After that, most fairies and nymphs had forgotten the prophecy and went back to their normal lives, but each queen had read the scroll before bed and prayed for the Wise Ones to succeed. A young,5 year old prince had once asked about the prophecy. The queen smiled and said, “We don’t know,my child. We don’t know.” The same queen had disappeared because one fairy had hypnotized her to fall asleep and never awaken, and nobody had ever seen her again. But let’s again ask ourselves this question, “Who? Why? How?” We might never know. Or will we...
