Prologue

What if one day, all the birds can sing?

What if one day, we have all the love to bring?

What if one day, we all will listen?

What if one day, fairness glistens?

What if one day...

Greetings, traveler! I will invite you to the adventures of this book. But first, I will greet you to this world. It will be dangerous without guidance. Wondering why I'm talking so fancy? We writers tend to do that.

Everyone always says: "Safety comes first!" but I say, "Lore comes first!" Now, you may be---and I hope you are---asking the lore right now. Maybe not saying it out loud, but asking mentally. You will get to know the characters gradually---slow and steady wins the race!---but I think it's more important to tell you the lore first, in a fancy way, obviously.

There are two foxes roaming this planet: land and sky.

Others swim down; Some fly by.

Sky foxes have wings, bolted with pure metal.

Gears and bolts, steel and wings.

While the ones down there enjoy water and what it brings.

But one may not like the diverseness of these bolts and rust.

And they will all fall down, if they must.

Chapter one

Gilliver swam through the seaweed, a trail of water flowing behind him. A vibrant sunset was up on top of the horizon, but he didn't bother---he just kept swimming. He flicked the seaweed off his head, entering a vast cave with strands and strands of seaweed hanging from the walls. It was gray, but the lighting made it look like a shade of light yellow.

"Hello, Gilliver." Gilliver turned around to see a guard. He splashed his fin in the water. "What must you be doing here?" he muttered, just loud enough for the guard to hear. The guard was blue, with dark stripes, and two gills, with, instead of back feet, a giant tail---just like Gilliver. Yet, he was far more preferable out of the two, which he said, "I'm guarding. Do you want someone to steal or even break the crystal?" "Well, no," Gilliver said. "I would much rather keep it safe, thank you." Gilliver grumbled. The guard glanced at him suspiciously. Hesitating for a second, Gilliver blurted, "Do you mind if I take it?" "Take what?" The guard looked astonished.

"The crystal. I want to take it."

"You can't take the crystal!"

"Yes. Yes, I can," Gilliver scowled. "You can't, and I can't tell you why." The guard did not like being talked back to --- In fact, he hated being talked back to. Gilliver lifted up his claws, and commanded, "Give. It. Now. Or. You. Will. Pay." He swam to the guard. "Why?"

"Why what?" the guard asked.

"Why not? Why won't you give me the crystal? And why won’t you even tell me why?"

The guard backed up. "Because," he started, "the queen... she cursed the crystal. And I have no idea why."

Chapter two

Devona --- a black and white herding dog --- was just walking out of the den, eating a rabbit. She raised her brown, rusty wings. This signaled that dinner was ready. It always meant that dinner was ready.

She munched on the rabbit until some of her pack members came. Nobody. Not even a single rabbit. Just because I'm still "growing up" doesn't mean no-one should listen to my announcements, she thought, enraged. She decided to check what was going on, and what happened to all of her pack members. I'm worried about them, much more than they're worried about me. I should check if they're in trouble. And maybe even a big one, too. Before she could even step out of the sky foxes den, she heard chattering. She peeked through the grass. I know I shouldn't eavesdrop, but I have to see what's happening, my business or not.

She saw a puppy. It was about the same age as her. She could only make out a small glance of it: brown fur, with white spots. A new baby? she thought. Who gave birth to it? Before she could answer her own question, a voice boomed. Devona nearly yelped at the sound of it: low... unsettling...? Devona was just about to get a book to read until the deep voice bellowed again: "Today," it said, "we have found a lost pup on the street, and we have decided to nurture it back to health." This time, the voice did not scare her. It did not make her yelp, either. It made her invested. It made her focused out what the sky fox was about to say next. This was not necessarily a good thing. Great. I'll be forgotten all over again, Devona mused. She then sighed, and muttered, "Not like it'll really make any change..." She focused her attention back to the cave. She wanted to read the books instead. Books are better than people. They don't judge. They don't hate you. They don't think. They don't even care what you do to them! Best of all, you don't need to even befriend them to look inside of them. Well, that's what Devona thought. Until this very minute....

MORNING. It's just like a normal morning, the sun is shining, birds are chirping, and the fresh scent of rain is in the air, And our three friends are waking up. But this is where I take my leave.
