The fundamental flaw of the liar's paradox

You know it, right? "This sentence is false." Obviously, if it's false, then that means it's true, because it SAYS it's false but that's false, so it's true. Do you follow? Anyway. But, well, if it's TRUE (if what it says is true) then it's false, because what it says is that it's false.

But the fundamental flaw of this classic paradox is that the sentence itself doesn't have any objective information or truth. If it was referring to a specific claim, like "avocadoes are blue" and saying THAT was false, it would be correcting a false statement, therefore giving us more information. But "This sentence is false"... what do you even do with that information? It's referring to itself, which creates this whole loop that goes on and on and on...

All of this to say, this sentence makes no sense and is useless.

Thank you.

The Astley Paradox (and no, I’m not Duke.)

If you ask Rick Astley for a copy of the movie Up, he won’t give it to you, because he’s Never Gonna Give You Up. However, by doing so, he just let you down, basically betraying his song.

Never gonna give you up

Never gonna let you down

Never gonna run around and desert you

Never gonna make you cry

Never gonna say goodbye

Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
