Sneak peak

Stealing gold shouldn’t be this easy. I looked around the corner of a small, dark alley in Meador, and watched the cart go by. The cart wasn’t heavily armed; just two soldiers driving with three others leading further ahead and two behind. Besides the drivers, each was armed with a gladius, shield, and long daggers similar to mine. I pulled out my twin daggers. The long, silver blades were slightly curved with violet carved runes and single-handed grips wrapped in worn leather. The gold was practically mine already.

As I crept along the alley to cut off the soldiers ahead I realized they were a bit taller than normal. Dangit, they're all Noals! Noals are extremely similar species to humans with a few slight differences. They are stronger, taller, tougher, and overall a much better warrior than humans. Not only are they bronze, but they have extremely great battle strategies. The only advantage humans and almost every other species on Exilez have against Noals is magic. Something I don’t have, but that's a long story.

This is going to be a lot harder than I thought. I sprinted to the first guard, who was seven feet easy, stabbed him in his left rib, and went to the others. Without the element of surprise on my side, the two other scout guards tried to put up a fight. The two remaining scouts were a sight so see.

The biggest one was a dark skined gladiator whom was much taller than any noal I’ve ever seen. His height made a mountain lion look like a kitten. The other scout was slightly taller than an average human, though you could tell he never missed a meal. With his scruffy red hair and goatee contrasting on his light skin, he made me want to laugh, but I had a job to do.

The big one went straight at me with all offense, swinging his sword every which way, while the other trailed around me. While Big Boy kept making an attempt to break my guard, I was trying to keep Scruffy in my line of sight. Instead of attacking me though, he kept itching the few scratchy hairs he had on his chin.

I disarmed Big boy, kicked him in the groin, and put a gash in his stomach with my right blade. Now if you were there personally you would have three thoughts; Wow, Ow, and Barf. It was a pretty disgusting scene, but I turned to Scruffy, who had forgotten his comrade was in battle and was counting coins to buy a load of pastries. Aw man, I want some. I decided to let him get the goodies and ran down to the cart, where 6 guards awaited their own doom.

_____________

“I wonder where Mike, Blane, and George are doin’ Fred,” said the man steering the cart.

“George is prolly’ gettin’ food, as usual,” answered Fred, the guard perched on the cart next to him.

“You should go check and see if they got in any trouble,’ said the driver.

“Aww, Gary, do I have to?”

“Yes you buffoon, I’m the one driving, see,” Gary showed him the reins to prove his point. ”Now go.”

“Ok, fine,” Fred said. When he climbed down the cart he lost his footing and fell to the ground. I laughed silently, not knowing karma was going to get me.

While Fred the guard ran off to check on his dead friends I snuck up to the guard on the right. He was shorter than the others with jet-black hair and a long scar from the left of his eye to the right of his chin. He had a perfectly trimmed goatee that matched his hair. His arms were pure muscle and his legs were as wide as my waist, but his size meant he was slow, so I knew how to take him down. I tapped him on the shoulder, which was probably the most difficult task yet since he was almost 7 feet tall, and got prepared to drop. It's a law punishable by death in Sxorne, the “paradise country” of Exielz, to approach and make contact with a guard, so when he turned around he was ready to kill. He spun around fast and swung his gladius in a wide arch. Being almost a foot shorter than him, it was easy to dodge the blade, but he interpreted my move, kneed me in the face with his lumbering leg, and broke my face.

The Day That Everything Went Downhill (About...and Sneak Peak!)

RavenClawChick thought I should try out to be an author here on KidzTalk, but be warned: I'm not a good author... However, this story is about a boy in Downhill Middle School whose life is going... Well...downhill. The boy is named Jake Waterrun, and bad luck meets him at every corner. Here is a sneak peak:

Chapter One: The Bad Luck Begins

"Uhhhhhh," Jake yawned widely.

It was still nighttime, he knew, because a slither of black peeked from the curtains. When he tried to move, his hand flew and knocked the lamp over. Jake decided to settle back down, but his bedpost creaked-- and spilt halfway open. That was when the bad luck started.

However, when Jake went back to sleep, he dreamt about a horse whom stepped in a mud puddle. Nothing bad luck about that, right? WRONG! The horse got stuck and died.* The end for the horse... Jake woke up sweating. He never remembered his dreams, let alone one about animals!! So, shivering and shaking, observing his broken lamp and bedpost, he thought about the next day.

Nothing else could happen, right...?

[End of sneak peak; did you like it? ]

*RavenClawChick said that was kind of inappropriate... But, really, what does she know? (Raven please don't comment madly )

Sneak Peak at Danger Over the Walls

"That's weird Q...but it's cute" Mara says smiling. They swung hangs and laughed together. I was happy Mara was finally happy- even if Ryan was hurt. I stared at Steve. "So, what does it feel like...?" He frowns "It feels like there's a really annoying nugget bothering me about it." He tried to hide his smile. I was proud of him. I glance at Quinn who sticks her tongue out and yells "NUGGET!". Mara tugs her onto the bench with her. "They're cute together." Steve says. "Yeah. It's a little weird, we're best friends, and it's like I'm in 2nd place..." Hearing this, Steve laughed "You were always in second place, you short legged nugget"

Seekers: Preview

Preview

Katrina ran. She didn't care that her braid was coming undone. She ran threw the thick forest. huff! She leapt over a log. Katrina's bow bounced playfully on her side. She came to the clearing. She brushed a lose strand of hair out of her face. The clearing was breath-taking. It formed a perfect circle. The clearing was rather odd. It almost held every element. There were small pools of water along the edges of the clearing. It could almost form an infinite river, except a gnarled tree's roots blocked it's path. Katrina smiles. Today she'll be meeting her brother.
