Twin Story (2)

Athina was lying on what became her bed. She stared up at the ceiling, lost in thought. After her trick she pulled on her twin sister, she had felt proud, but only for a short while. Athina had planned that out for a couple of years, but she had never gotten the chance to deploy it until a week ago. She planned and planned, from a small thought to a full-blown idea. But she never planned for this, her guilt for her deed. It was like a person banging on the door while she slept, never letting her sleep. She guessed she could handle it, but she couldn’t. Deep in her heart, she knew what she did was wrong. She’d hoped to be psychopathic, and be able to get away with it without guilt, rationalize, after all, her parents abused her in that room for a long time, all while giving Alexie everything.

Athina sighed, knowing she needed to fix what she did. Since her parents were still oblivious, they felt “Alexie” was trustworthy enough to leave alone, and that “she” wouldn’t find the door. So, Athina could use that to her advantage, as long as she was subtle about getting their parents out of the house for a while. This is why she was being careful, making sure to act responsibly, otherwise, her parents would be more inclined to stay.

It was hard, acting so well, putting on a mask in front of her tortures. But she had to, for her own sake, and maybe Alexie’s. But masking her emotions was a skill Athina had learned over the years. She’d kept her secret, and she’d kept it well.

Just then, her dad came into the room. He was dressed up in a tux, in the middle of combing his hair. He told Athina that her parents would be gone for a couple hours for date night. Perfect, Athina thought. The perfect opportunity had come. Tonight, she would go downstairs, unlock the door that Alexie was in, and the two of them would escape. Of course, Alexie would be difficult to persuade, Athina would have to convince her they were on the same side, then they could divide after they left. Then, Athina’s guilt would leave her because she made amends, and she could go live her life happily, as she’d always wanted.

Athina waited. She laid on her bed, listening closely. When she heard her parents’ car pull out of the driveway, she made her way down the steps. She walked over to the door. She hesitated. What if Alexie reacted badly? What if she didn’t want to come with her? What if Alexie got violent, Athina wasn’t exactly kind to her. She took a deep breath, and she unlocked the door. She heard shuffling. She turned the handle and pushed the door open.

After opening the door, Athina saw Alexie. She was in the same state Athina left her, no, Alexie was more scared, poor girl.

Alexie looked at Athina with a stare of confusion. Alexie got up, as she was previously on the floor. Her eyes were wide, but Athina couldn’t bear to look her in the eye.

“I’m sorry,” Athina said to break the eerie silence. Alexie looked at her, almost in disbelief.

“‘I’m sorry’? That’s all you’ve got!? You’re a deranged lunatic who shoved me in a room only to be abused by my parents! And all you have to say is ‘I’m sorry’?!” Alexie said in outrage and stress. But Athina had planned for such insults, she stayed calm.

“I understand what I did was more than wrong, okay? I understand that, but I dealt with that for 15 years Alexie, not just a week. Our parents are awful people, so please, forgive me for wanting to get out of there.”

Alexie seemed confused.

“‘Our’ parents? I’m an only child, I don’t have siblings, I think,” Alexie said in confusion.

“Don’t be dense Alexie, look at the two of us, do you really believe you’re an only child when we’re obviously identical twins?” Athina said, somewhat annoyed by Alexie’s stupidity.

“But I… guess you’ve got a point. But why would they put one of us in that stupid room and do all of that? And have the other live normally? What’s the point?” Alexie asked, confused about everything. “And how do you know my name? I never said it, and I don’t know yours.”

“I’m Athina. And I don’t know why, but does it really matter? We’ve got to get out of here. Now, will you be my ally in this situation so the two of us can get out of here, or will you just stay here with the psychopaths the two of us have for parents?” Athina asked, getting to the point.

“I… guess the enemy of my enemy is my friend, huh?” Alexie said, conflicted. “But how are we going to deal with them? Speaking of, where are they?”

“They went on a date night, they won’t be back for a few hours. That leaves us enough time to grab some things and get the heck out of dodge. Now, we shouldn’t waste much ti-” Athina said, but was soon interrupted by Alexie.

“I don’t want to just leave,” Alexie stated solidly, then continued darkly, “I want them to pay.”

“No, Alexie, you don’t. The most logical way to get out of here is to follow my plan. Now, let’s grab some clothes and food,” Athina said, trying to convince Alexie to follow the better of two paths.

“But I.… Fine.” Alexie stated, agreeing to go along with Athina’s plan.

The two girls went to go pack some things, food, bottled water, clothes, a couple of decks of cards to keep them each busy. They weren’t coming back, at least, that was Athina’s plan. Alexie had a different one. How dare their parents do such a thing? How could that be ignored? Alexie knew the law’s system would never give their parents justice, so she had to take it into her own hands since they shouldn’t even be allowed to breathe after what they’ve done. Alexie wasn’t stupid, she pretended to go along with Athina’s plan, just until she would be able to carry out her own.

They got done packing. Athina checked the time, they were cutting it close, they’d have to go out the back door to avoid being seen, just in case their parents came home. They went out, just when they heard the car pull into the driveway. Alexie froze. Athina noticed and repeated the same action.

“What’s wrong?” Athina asked. Please, don’t turn back Alexie, for yourself.

“I can’t do it Athina. I have to.” Alexie looked at her, with pleading eyes and a knowing expression. “I need to.” Alexie started to turn back, but Athina grabbed her arm.

“No, Alexie. Please, this isn’t the way. They’ll get their pay, you need to trust me. You will never let yourself get over it if you do anything to them, even if they’re horrible people.” Athina pleaded. Don’t go down the dark path, Alexie. You can live a good life, don’t mess it up, please.

“No Athina, I have to do it! I’ll never forgive myself if I don’t!”

Alexie shook her arm out of Athina’s grasp, and Athina let go. Athina would never be able to convince Alexie, as much as she wanted to, Alexie chose her path, and she went back into the house, and screams would follow. Athina left, she chose the lighter path, to leave, let herself free, get a good life, leave her parents and her abused past behind. The two sisters would never meet again. They would go their separate ways, one filled with the joys that life can offer, and the other filled with hatred and guilt, causing her to get rid of anything that moves, for fear that under its pretty face would hide a soul as dark as her parents. And so ends the story of Alexie & Athina, the story of two girls, one who turned her darkness into light, and one who turned her innocence into tragedy and despair

Twin Story (Horror)

Alexie was home alone for the first time, finally. Her parents were away for a few hours doing… ah, whatever it was, Alexia couldn’t remember She had paid more attention in that conversation to the fact that she would be home alone. She figured 15 was plenty old enough to be left home alone. The law where she lived in Hooppole, Illinois, agreed with her. The law was 14+ kids are allowed to be left home, but her parents still hadn’t trusted her and were weird about it in general, so 15 it was.

Alexie was upstairs, lying on her bed, reading a book. It was a collection of short stories and poems by various authors. At that moment, she was reading some from Edgar Allen Poe. She had just finished reading “The Tell-Tale Heart”, and was starting to read “Alone”. The idea of the previous story was interesting to Alexie though, a man driven to insanity by his own conscience. Karma’s way of presenting itself, however its brutality is needed.

Suddenly, a noise interrupted her reading. The noise came from downstairs, it sounded almost like… laughing? Did her parents come home early? She hadn’t heard a car, the front door opening, nor any “We’re home!”s, all sounds her parents would have made.

She closed her book, not before forgetting her bookmark in her curious, but weary, state of mind. She got up and made her way to her bedroom door, opening it slower than normal, as if a monster was about to pop out from behind it. The door completely open, and no monsters, Alexie continued her way around the top floor and down the stairs. Her trepidation was obvious in the way she was walking, slowly and cautiously. To anyone else, it might have looked like she thought one wrong step and a hole would open in the floor.

At the end of the staircase, she could hear more laughing, louder this time due to, assumingly, her propinquity. The sound continued, and Alexie crept closer.

The sound led her to a door. Not just any door, the door. Alexie’s parents always told her not to open it, and while Alexie was inquisitive of it, she didn’t care enough about it to risk getting in trouble. Until now, that is.

The laughing sounded female, about Alexie’s age. But it wasn’t normal laughter you would hear as though someone told a joke. No, this was worse, like a deranged, insane sound of lunacy.

Alexie decided, against all of her instincts telling her to run, get out of dodge, call her parents, the cops, someone, that she would open the door.

Her hand reached for the handle, and she gave it a slow turn. She was more cautious and slower than the narrator of “The Tell-Tale Heart” when opening the old man’s door, slow and steady every night for a week.

It was locked from the outside, as though there was a horrible secret behind the door. The laughing had ceased, oddly enough, but Alexie was curious now. Alexie undid the lock, turning the handle yet again with the same amount of caution. Then she opened the door, hesitant still.

She was met with an anticlimatic storage room. That’s it? Her parents banned her from the room for this? She went into the room, her fear was practically gone. Just as she reached the center of the room, her fear spiked yet again, as the door behind her shut with a loud THUD!

She zoomed around, terrified, to stare at the door. She tried to run to it, but something grabbed her by the ankle, causing her to fall flat on her stomach. She tried to turn around, only to be met with… a mirror? No, it was her face, her features, her clothes, but it wasn’t a mirror, this girl’s hair was tangled and messy, and she appeared as though she had been trapped in the room for months, no, years.

Alexie tried to scream but the girl covered her mouth. Alexie tried to run, move, get away, but the girl had her pinned. The girl started to cover Alexie with dirt and such and mess up Alexie’s hair, all while Alexie tried to scream and scream. Rivaling the muffled sounds of her screaming, was the girl’s maniacal laughter, coming from her mouth the most horrifying smile Alexie had ever seen.

After a few seconds, Alexie figured out what the girl was doing, she was trying to make them look the same, scratching her in the process.

After a few minutes of screaming, laughing, and dilapidation, the girl shoved Alexie into the corner, or was it the opposite? Did Alexie shove the girl into the corner? They really did look very much the same. The one who did the shoving ran to the door, opening it, leaving, and locking it with urgency before the other could escape. The one having been shoved, ran to the door, screaming “No!” desperately, but at last, being unable to escape.

The girl outside of the room went to go take a shower, brush her hair, clean herself up, after all, her parents would be home soon. Maybe after her shower, she would go upstairs to “her” room, maybe reading a book. Edgar Allen Poe seemed like a good idea, maybe some of his works. It would be difficult to read with her twin sister banging on the door, but Athina would simply ignore it. After all, who knows what dangers could come from opening locked doors people told you not to open?

A Horror Story With No Title

Enjoy! Hopefully, KS doesn't disapprove this for gore.

One sad day, a young girl named Angela Morgan went missing from a small town called Santa Willos. She went missing for many days, going on into weeks, then months, and so on. After several years, the girl was declared legally dead. Her parents, Julia and Thomas Morgan, had a funeral for her on a cold winter morning. Most of their friends and family had been invited. Her parents and the rest of the crowd cried and said their goodbyes.

Later on the day of the funeral, her parents were home and the guests had all left. Her parents were in their living room, drinking hot coffee, and staring at the fireplace. They were having a small conversation while in the comfort of the warm house.

“It’s such a cold day outside, I wish the weather could have been warmer if we had to be outside all morning,” Julia, the mother, complained.

To which, Thomas, the father, replied, “True, true, but at least it is warm in here, my dear”.

Julia found her gaze going around the room and landing on the window. There was nothing overly special out the window, some snow, leafless trees, some bushes, and some grass poking through the sheet of white. But I suppose, if you knew what lay under the grass and snow, you might think differently. Soon, Thomas found his gaze set in a similar direction.

“Do you think they will ever find out?” Julia queried.

Thomas furrowed his brow. “No. We’re her parents, who would think we were the ones who killed her?”

Julia sighed. “I suppose you’re right.”

Just as she spoke her phone rang with an unknown number. She figured it was a spam call and ignored it. The number called again. This time she picked up the phone and put it on speaker.

“Hello, who is this?” Julia asked the unknown caller.

“Oh sorry, I forgot you didn’t have my number yet,” a voice answered. The voice was female, about early to mid-twenties. It sounded in the background like she was driving.

“Who is this?” Julia persisted.

“Oh! Sorry, probably should have mentioned that. It’s your daughter, Angela,” said the voice.

Julia’s eyes widened and looked at her husband, who was staring at the phone in disbelief with his eyes wide and jaw dropped. There was silence for a couple of seconds.

“Mom, are you still there?” Angela asked.

“Angela, but y-you’re dead!” Julia exclaimed.

Angela laughed a little. “I know I haven’t visited for a while but I’m hardly dead, mom. Anyway, I am driving over. I figured I would stop by for a bit since as I said, it’s been a while.”

Thomas reached for the phone and Julia gave it to him.

Thomas was not convinced that this was Angela, figured it must be a prank caller.

“Who are you? Are you those trouble-making kids down the street?” Thomas asked the woman on the other end.

“Dad, we just went over this, it’s me, Angela.” The voice insisted. “Anyway, I have to go now, I’ll see you when I get there okay bye” she rushed at the end before hanging up.

A good ten minutes went by of Julia and Thomas staring at the phone. It was Julia who broke the silence.

“I-it can’t be, r-right?”

Thomas did not answer, as he did not know.

“Well, it’s probably fake, so let’s just go to bed, it’s been a long day,” Julia said as she took the phone and went upstairs to their bedroom. Thomas hesitated but followed her.

An hour passed and the two were almost asleep until they heard a car pull into their driveway. After that, they heard the front door open and shut.

“Mom? Dad? Where are you?” a child’s voice called. Thomas and Julia recognized immediately, for that child’s voice had haunted their dreams for years and years.

The sound of footsteps could be heard through the halls. Eventually, the footsteps started coming up the stairs.

Step.

Step.

Creak.

Step.

Julia and Thomas hurried to hide in their closet, then they hid further behind some clothes.

Step.

Step.

Step.

The footsteps neared the room as the door slowly creaked open. More footsteps walking around the room.

“Mom? Dad? Where are you, where did you go?” the child Angela’s voice repeated.

The footsteps left the room and left the door open, then they went down the stairs to look elsewhere.

Julia and Thomas sighed a breath they hadn’t realized they were holding. They exited the closet and went outside into the hall.

“What do we do!? Should we call the cops?” Julia whisper-yelled whilst freaking out.

Thomas nodded and went to grab the phone from the bedroom. He returned and had 911 dialed. The phone was ringing, he gave it to Julia. Julia held it up to her ear. The phone stopped ringing. It didn’t have a message or a busy signal, it just stopped ringing. The phone was silent except for white noise. Then, a voice came through the phone, muffled, but the one repetitive word was clear: “Why?”

The sound started getting louder as if it was getting closer. Julia hung up but the sound did not stop. Scared, she threw the phone to the ground and it shattered. Then they realized:

The sound wasn’t coming from the phone, it was coming from behind them.

They turned around slowly and carefully. Before them, they saw her. Their child, or her corpse, with a bullet hole in the middle of her forehead. Bloody tears were coming from her eyes, and her hands were covered with the very same dark crimson substance. In one hand, she held a gun down at her side. It was the very same gun that killed her, it was buried with her body to hide evidence.

Her voice was unsteady and slightly raspy as if she had just woken from a very, very long nap. With that voice, she asked, "Why? Why would you do this? To your own daughter? Why?" The gun shook in her hand, and she started to raise it, ever so slowly.

Julia and Thomas were terrified and speechless. But yet, Julia tried to explain, "A-an-gela, w-we're s-so, so, s-sorry. W-we didn't m-mean to, Right Tom?" Julia looked up at her husband with pleading eyes, as Thomas looked back at her with scared ones.

"Y-yes, my dear," Thomas said.

"J-just put d-down the g-gun sweety, p-please," Julia begged their undead daughter.

Angela only rose the gun higher, towards both of them. The gun had previously been shaking, but it was steady now, as Angela said, in a low, dark voice filled with hatred, "No. You liars".

Julia and Thomas had killed their daughter, solely for the attention it got them. Angela had been a sweet girl, innocent, she didn't deserve such a thing, especially for such a dumb, stupid reason. And standing directly in front of the criminal couple, was the personification of karma. Moreover, karma worked as it always does, it turned the events around, so that the guilty pay for what they've done. And that night, in that house, in that hall, the guilty did pay, with their lives.

Bang.

Bang.

I need an idea for a story title.

Please read my story and then help me find the right title.

Summary:

Bea, a middle school student, is all of a sudden tied between two when one of her crushes (she has 2) confesses that he is in love with her. The other one also said so, but that was a long time ago. She loves both of them equaly, but Wade knows more about her than Ethan and she knows more about Wade than she knows about Ethan. Ethan and Wade don't really know each other but have heard things about each other from Bea. Of course, it's always in good word. Like when Wade threatens Ethan because he loves Bea more than Ethan.

Another day of school. Except, this day may be better than most. I'm going to see my crush that likes me back! I've been sick for a week, and then we had a week away from school because of the terrible weather that had reached -33. I'll have to wait until lunch, but I'm very excited.

(This would be about what happens during 1st, 2nd, and 3rd period, but it's too long so I'll skip it.)

"Yay!" I hear my friend yell, his arms in the air as I walk over to him. I copy him and sit beside him. He's adorable. Gross, but adorable. I smile at him. "Where were you the week before?" He asks. "I was really sick. Sorry. Did you miss me?" I ask in a teasing voice. He nods. "So, HONEY, as our first day of dating in person, what shall we do?" He turns around for a second and looks back at me. "Don't call me "honey". I hate that and you know it. And what are you talking about?" I raise an eyebrow. "Did you forget, honey? You agreed to date me after we confessed our feelings for each other over the phone. Aren't you excited for when we get married?" He smiles brightly. "WHAT?" I panic inside of my head. "Uh huh. If you live that long." I say, rolling my eyes. "What is that supposed to mean?" "It means that I'm gonna tell Wade and he'll probably try to kill you." I smirk. "Wade can't do anything to me. He lives in Maryland." Ethan cocks his head. "So? He said that he has plans with me when we're in college." I laugh. "But... you're my girlfriend." "I never said that I was, but... whatever." I shrug. I don't think he heard me.
