There were castles every mile on Hadrian's Wall....what were they called? Milecastles! What were they for? They were for soldiers to sleep in. They slept in tiny buildings in milecastles called barracks. Pronounced b-air-icks.

There were also signal towers to signal the soldiers at the milecastles on guard to warn them that there were enemies near by.

Hadrian's Wall was a wall that ran coast to coast in northern England and built in 122AD. Emperor Hadrian ordered his soldiers to build a wall. But why? He ordered his men to build a wall to separate the Barbarians tribes(in Scotland ) from England, he also built the wall to make sure that only trusted people could come south of the wall. As some of you know I am hiking the total length of Hadrian's Wall right now. The total length of the wall is over 90 miles! If you have any questions comment below and I will answer them!

Today, I think, we are going to see the first part of the wall! We are hiking 10 miles again! ( BTW....yesterday we hiked 10 miles also.)( If you want to learn about Hadrians Wall, check out DKFindout.com! Then type in "Hadrains Wall")

My Dad and I just got back from walking 10 miles, the view was nice!!

Even though it was hard, it was so fun! We are staying at the Orchard House in Newtown England, the people that own this place will get us a table at a pub and we can eat there. A pub here in England basically means a restaurant and bar. The Orchard House is nice and clean!

My Dad and I are going to start our hike today!

First, we will have to take a taxi to the nearest bus station, we are going to take a bus to Bowness On Solway, which is where we are going to start our hike. The hike will be about 14-16 miles. When we are hiking the 14 to 16 mile hike we are just heading back to the hotel we are at right now.

If you don't know what I'M talking about, it's when my dad and I ONLY are going to walk across Hadrians Wall....Hadrians Wall goes across England, but since England is skinny, it's only 90 miles but it will be a tough hike!! It will take a week or so to hike it. After the hike, we will have a couple of days to rest and go to museums! Right now we are in Frankfurt Airport waiting to get on a flight to take us to London Airport. We are getting a snack right now.

We are leaving on April 9, 2017. My dad and I are sharing a channel on YouTube. Anyway, history time: Hadrian's Wall was built to keep the barbarians up in Scotland from getting into England, it was built in the year 122AD (go to DK find out to find out more about it!).
