KidzTalk Frequently Asked Questions

The following is basic information about KidzTalk. Please read this before posting questions or answers if you are unfamiliar with us. Click on any question to show or hide the answer.
What kinds of questions can I ask here?
You can ask anything that is family-friendly (i.e., Disney would approve it). It must also have content value to be approved by our editors. Whenever possible, include more than just a few words. Answers should add value to the KidzTalk community. Advertisements and promotional posts are not permitted.
Is personal information allowed?
Personal information is not allowed, which includes your full name, address, pictures, video, audio of yourself, usernames on other websites, family members, or anything else that could identify you. We need to keep you safe!
How do you register for an account?
Just click on the register link located near the login button. You can also use this link to register. Registering is not required to post a question, but it has many benefits.
  • Not having to complete the "I'm not a robot" challenge question for every post.
  • Automatically getting notified when your question is answered.
  • Helps to screen out users posting with the same username as yours, since you will have points associated with your account.
  • You can participate in KidzTalk contests.
  • Have a chance to be ranked by us and even get on our top users list.
  • Be able to post polls.
  • Get many KidzTalk perks, like your own Advice Column, Blog, etc. once you have enough points.
Your parent/guardian will need to approve an e-mail link we send them. If you have any issues, just contact us about it.
Who moderates this community?
KidzTalk is fully moderated by KidzSearch staff. Every question and answer is reviewed before it goes out.
How does the point system work?
KidzTalk registered members get points by asking and answering questions. Getting upvotes and having your answer selected as best is another way. A small number of points are given when you upvote another question. Users with enough points get ranked in the Users section. Points let you have things like an advice column, blog, and an avatar. They also give you badges and entry to exclusive KidzTalk online clubs. More points mean more special privileges.
Each up vote on a question will generate 1 points. The following table lists points gained per activity:

What are polls?
Polls let you have a question with different choice answers. You can have one, or multiple answers. Just select 'Create Poll' when posting content to create one. We always suggest having 2 or more choices for answers. You must have an KidzTalk account to create a poll.
Can I change my KidzTalk theme?
Yes. Several different looks are available. Go to "Edit My Profile" and select a different theme. Please be aware that not all the themes work well on mobile devices, and certain mobile themes may not look right on desktop computers. You need to select a theme for both mobile and desktop. The default theme is SnowFlat which works on mobile and desktops.
How do I get an advice column?
You need 25,000 points for one. Once you achieve this, just request one and post it in the "Ask KidzSearch" category.
How do I get a blog?
You can get your own blog once you have over 1,000 points. Request it in the "Ask KidzSearch" category. Please keep it current. Inactive blogs without much content may get removed.
What are clubs?
Clubs are often focused on smaller topics that we don't include in the main list of categories. Anyone can request one by using the Ask KidzSearch section, but it is up to KidzSearch to include them. Clubs need to have enough general interest to be added.
What are badges?
Badges are given when you complete a set of actions, such as getting points, or having a certain number of best answers. They are displayed in your profile. A list of all our badges and how they are earned can be found here.
Can I change my username?
While we don't encourage it, you can change it using the KidzSearch support form. Please make sure to include your original email in the request with the new username. Usernames must not contain any personal information and must be unique.
How can I change my password?
Click on 'forgot password' to reset it. An e-mail will be sent with instructions to the person who registered your account (parent/guardian).
How can I delete my KidzTalk account?
Please contact KidzSearch support to have your account deleted. The request must come from the same e-mail used to register your account. We will reply to the email and ask you for final confirmation. Once deleted, all questions, answers, and comments by you will be removed.
You can also just request to have your account blocked so you can't login, or remove your username from all posts and comments (they get listed as anonymous). This will keep related comments by other users active.
How do I upload an image or add a video in a post? You can embed videos just by including the actual link in your post.

We currently just accept YouTube videos. The entire video must be family-friendly.

You can upload images by clicking on the image upload button. The current file upload size limit is 10MB. An image upload example is given below.

Email notifications will be sent out for new posts in a category you are following. You can uncheck getting emails in your profile settings.
