Since you said you were gay, I'm assuming you don't have feelings back for him (also assuming you are a girl), at least in the way he does. Just try and let your "crusher" (idk??) down gently. Tell him that you just don't feel the same way he does, but you still think you would make fantastic friends!
Now, if you do like him back, I would maybe try and talk to your friend, and see what he'she has to say. However, your friend is not in control over your crusher- he is oh-so free to make his own desicions, as are you.
