I live next to [usually] at least 8 (sometimes they bring in more) horses immediately; there are a bunch more horses all around me. Montanans hate outsiders, especially ones that try to be 'cowboys.' Like, seriously; they'll beat you up behind the bar and smash up your car or pop your tires if you make them mad.

Then how come the cashier didn’t mind me when I went to (what I think is) a tourist trap in western Montana?

Also, I don’t know if it’s a tourist trap because I don’t remember the price of stuff. All I know is that the name is “50,000 Silver Dollar” and they sold Montana T-shirts, huckleberry foods they claimed to be made in Montana (I never checked to see where it was made but someone said it was made in China), and katanas. And geodes. There was also a restaurant and bar.

If it's Western MT they won't bother you as much 'cause you're giving them money. On the east side of the mountains....well, this is where all the ranches and ugly cowboy bars are. Huckleberries are famous around the mountains. If you go to the mountain town Hungry Horse, there are like 20-25 businesses and probably like 17-20 of them sell huckleberry things (pie, ice cream, etc). They grow in the mountains but there's some controversy over them now...also be careful because they'll rip you off. They sell "huckleberry" pies that are actually only 50% huckleberry. They cut it with blueberries to be cheap.

No idea where you went that sold katanas....

But yeah 50,000 silver dollar is pretty tourist-y in nature. Off I-90 ay? Yeah they 'pry charge $5 for a bottle of water.
