(I'mma try to be a lot more active but not quite annoying with posting because of the apparent inactivity these days, so give me some ideas for posts in the answers or comments)

Alright, I want y'all to give me your favorites from the ones I provide or just tell me your favorite if I didn't add it. (I'm too lazy to add pictures today (-_-))

Nyckelharpa- a Scandinavian violin-like instrument that has a pegbox to control pitches (credit to NG)

Violin- generic wooden box with strings that you draw a stick across.

Cello- beautiful instrument with a majestic sound and is made from the best woods, bowed by only the best horse-haired bows, and has exceptional strings tuned at perfect 5ths.

Bass- a giant wooden block.

Viola- nobody cares about it

Piano- debatable

bass- four stringed smaller instrument, is cool, I guess.

Guitar- receives too much credit

Harp- is only useful for Debussy Arabesque no. 1

Banjo- Louisiana's folk instrument

Ukulele- tiny guitar

(I don't feel like adding the endless amount of Asian instruments)

Have fun!

(Don't take this seriously) except for Viola

VIOLAS are the WORST. I dislike greatly one of my uncles, so when I got a phone recently, I put his contact as viola uncle bc I loath VIOLAs.

Proud violin player here !!

When you hear a symphony or symphonic poem, one of the most prominent things you look for are contrasts—contrasts in color, whether they be timbre, dynamics, rhythm, or pitch. The strings section is extremely rich, and one of the vital components of that richness are the violas. Violas usually have the duty of carrying harmony, but they are powerful catalysts of emotion and depth as well; for example, their C string enables the deep tonality that cellos are so coveted for, and they also have the projection or timbre of a violin, since it has a smaller body. These kinds of colors are integral to an interesting piece, and they should never be overlooked or understated. For solo pieces, I must admit the viola is not the usual choice, but there are some beautiful compositions for the instrument when you find them, such as the Ligeti Viola Sonata, which received critical acclaim when it first debuted. I recommend giving it a listen when you have the chance.
