Hey everyone! I’m here to tell you about tone indicators, and how you might want to consider using them in your posts!
What’s a tone indicator?
A tone indicator is basically a piece of text that lets you know the tone of what they’re saying is. Basically, it’ll tell you whether someone was being sarcastic, or joking, or being serious, etc etc, because you can’t tell someone’s tone by reading it.
So, without further ado, here’s a pretty common list of tone indicators off the top of my head:
/j = joking
/hj = half joking
/ij = inside joke
/t = teasing
/f = fake
/s or /sarc = sarcastic
/srs = serious
/lh = light hearted
/g = genuine
/genq = genuine question
/gen = generally
/ref = reference
If you google it, there’s probably plenty more, so if you want you can use those, although you might have to tell others the meaning lol.
You can also use multiple at once! Whatever fits to make your tone more clear!
Examples:
I love it when I get grounded /sarc
Ugh I hate you /j
That sounds like a you problem /hj
You’re my favorite person /g
Donald Trump likes to play Undertale /f /j
Have fun!
