Chapter 3
I shifted my feet nervously as I decided whether or not I should approach this peculiar person. I didn’t know what made me do it, but I slowly stepped out from behind the bushes and went closer and closer. When I approached, the person ducked underwater and swam away. However, one thing was strange. Why would this stranger be in the water? I frowned, pacing back and forth. The strange thing was this person never resurfaced. My thoughts buzzed in my head as I thought about what could have happened.

She had approached me. What could I have done? Could I have fought? Maybe I would have won, but I could never know what humans had on them. I remember my brother. He was the only one who actually cared for me, and the memory of him was too sharp. The weapon of the human. His scream. And then, he was gone. I don't know where he is, but the humans do. Lost in thought, I didn't realize where I was. When I did, it was already too late.
I heard the rumbling of something. It wasn't like the crackle of thunder, or the splashing of the waves. It was different, like an angry beast waiting to attack. Then, I realized. A human "boat". My instincts warned me of danger, but then I remembered my brother. How he was taken from me. I needed to figure things out. I headed towards the sound.
The dark night was perfect for shielding me against any watching eyes. I slowly went near the boat, and carefully pulled my head above the water. I softly gasped when the dry air hit my face. Then, I watched.
