Guys, I'm really scared and worried.

It's about my dad, he…

Early this morning he told my mom he was going to crash the car, then said that I was in the car (he was taking me to school), so my mom kept him on the phone and when he hung up, she blowed him up with calls and texts until he got home so he wouldn't crash the car, then my mom called the police. Two cops came out to my house on the outskirts of town and drove him to a Hospital. It turns out he's sick in the head, and now I'm scared for my safety, for my mom's safety, for my dad's life, and for my dad's mental health. I'm also worried that my parents are getting divorced. I had to type this then paste it, but while I'm typing this on Google docs in the car, my parents are screaming at each other while my mom drives. I'm scared my dad is going to kill himself. He's not in his right mind. Me and my mom were at my mom's work and he was in the car, and he came in to give me a hug and say “I love you, I'm sorry, and I'm not trying to take anything away from you,” which is not like him.

I'm really scared

Does anyone have anything helpful to cope with stress, relax me, or distract me and keep me positive? Thank you for reading this!

I am so sorry.

Try to not focus on your family life, if you can? Try and talk with your mom, have some bonding time alone together, spend time at school, etc. And remember, it seems like your dad knows he isn't stable and is trying to protect you. No matter what happens, you should remember that your father does love you, and your mother, and wants to protect you.

Also, it may be hard, but try not to blame him.

Some stress tips I like:

Reading!
If you are anxious as well, listen to an audiobook so you can fidget, eat, do whatever you want, while still reading!

Bath
I love baths, and, bonus, you can listen to an audiobook in the bath! it is so nice to hhave a nice, lavender bath, and candles, and a great book playing....

Focus on school
transfer all your nervous energy to studying! Plus, it will get you good grades, your parents might like that! not my fav, but if it is mindless math problems, YOU CAN PAIR IT WITH AN AUDIOBOOK

Cleaning
sometimes, it feels so nice to just organize or clean up your space. also, can you guess what I am about to say??? YOU CAN LISTEN TO AN AUDIOBOOK-

And KT
this one is self explanatory, on of my favorites! (although, minus a few points bcuz you can't listen to an audiobook :(

I hope things get better for you

and always remember, the key to life is

audiobook

Thank you! And thanks for reminding me that audiobooks are an option!

And the studying part? I already am always getting good grades. Mostly A's, occasionally a B shows up but I'm not concerned. I don't think I need to study. I'm just naturally smart

I'm so sorry this is happening to you, amore :C

*I want to try and figure out what may be happening, but you DO NOT need to answer this. Was he on any medications, and did he like just suddenly start thinking like this or has it just progressively get worse?*

Try to be as busy as possible like you said. listen to your favorite music 24/7. read. draw. watch TV. video games. garden. go take runs/walks. get new hobbies. bake. cook. make jewelry. sew if you know how. walk/play with pets if you have any.

(So you don't have to translate, amore is love in Italian.)

He was not on any medications except his ADHD meds, but he has VERY bad depression and it's progressively gotten worse

And thanks!

Oh that makes more sense with ADHD its way easier to get depression and depression symptoms can become more prominent with medication

I was thinking if he's on any medications that's what made him think like that since every medication can do something to chemicals in the brain, but it's just the depression.

I'm so sorry this is happening to you, and you're welcome for the ideas! if you ever need to talk to someone my pms are always open :3

I absolutely hate that for you . Honestly my dad is almost a different person when he doesn't take his diabetes medication. One time we were looking at Christmas lights and there was this house that had a whole light show. My dad thought there was a spot where he could park. There wasn't and he ended up blocking some people from seeing the show. My mom was already mad at him and then the people nicely asked him to move and my dad sped off. Like way too fast. He almost killed us in the car as he was speeding through a neighborhood that had a lot of traffic because of the light show. I had a panic attack and we were all screaming at him to slow down. It was very traumatic and because he didn't take his diabetes medicine. I can kinda relate, but yours is worse since your dad can take medicine and make everything better. I haven't found the best way to cope with things like that but I try drawing and writing.  I can't tell any of my irl friends because then my dad could lose his job and we would all have to move. I cope with humor I think so yeah. Just know that I absolutely feel for you and hate that for you.

For all time. Always

First, deep breathing. In for 3 second, hold for 4 seconds, out for 3 seconds.

Secondly, remind yourself that everything is and will be fine. Listen to music that you like, anything that you enjoy doing is perfect.

Seek comfort with your mom, give her hugs. Confirm with her that everything will be okay once you've confirmed with yourself.
