Chapter 4
I woke up to my mom asleep next to me, I realised what happened I’d collapsed,
I looked around, I was in the school nurse's office, I got up and walked over to the mirror to make sure I hadn’t sustained any injury that would’ve caused me to collapse. I looked at my face, my arms, my legs, my chest, nothing. I looked at my face again and noticed something… My hair was moving in directions I'm not sure it's supposed to move in. Was this my power? My hair? This was all I got… Disappointed, I went to my mom and tried to wake her up. “Mom… Wake up, I’m better now.” She stirred, blinked her eyes, and wrapped me in her embrace. “I’m so glad your ok little pea.” She looked like she wanted to cry. “Mom, do you wanna see my power?” I said, trying to distract her, “Sure, pea.”
“Look at my hair.” I pointed at some of my hair which was waving at her, did i just do that, maybe it's an easy power to control. “Oh my, that's a new one, little pea you got two powers.” “What?” I voiced my question out loud.
“Yes, remember what I told you, if you get a second power it's based on your appearance.” Oh yeah, she had told me that. “Why don’t you try to figure out your first one.” I tried to concentrate. I focused on my core, I imagined power flowing out of it. The part of me that was touching my mom turned red. Mom’s arm started to bleed blood shot out. “AH!” She shrieked. “Mom! Was that me I’m so sorry.” I started to cry. I just injured my mom. She walked over and hugged me. “It's ok little pea, that was your power, blood manipulation. You didn’t know that would happen, your power can injure, be careful how you use it ok.” I touched her arm again. I did the same as before. I imagined my core power flowing out of it. Her arm started to heal slowly. I felt weak and I collapsed. She caught me. “Little pea you overdid yourself, save your powers for something important.” She said it with such warmth it made it all better. “Mom, can I go back to sleep?” I said dazed. “Sure pea.” She lifted me up and set me down in the bed, gave me a kiss on my forehead, lifted that blanket over me and ruffled my hair like she always did when I was sick. After that I dozed off.
