I love these questions! Also, why is your stuff buried so fast? Like, I didn't see this for awhile, and it's only been 5 hours as of now since you posted?
I want 2-4 kids, but preferably 3 in the next few years!
Anyways, I would raise my kids like how my mom raised me and my brother! I really like how she did it, and I appreciate it a lot, especially these days.
First, I wouldn't hit, spank, or put my hands on my kid violently. That's just a no-no in my book. Instead, I would rather lecture my children on why their actions or decisions were wrong and/or dangerous so that they can understand themselves why. It'll help develop their self-awareness and help them reflect on themselves (hopefully). If I were to punish them, it may be an extra chore, or being grounded.
I would also not allow electronics such as gaming consoles or phones until high school (unless they absolutely NEED a phone earlier). When they are younger, no internet allowed until they are about in first grade. Also, one thing that is different from what my mom did that I will do is have VERY restricted internet access. I've seen too much, and don't wish that upon my kids in anyway. Although, when I did get unrestricted access with the way that I was raised, I was pretty solid and wasn't too traumatized or shaken (just as a disclaimer lol).
Another thing that I will (hopefully) do differently is raise my kids in the church. I don't currently go to church, and although my mom is a great woman of faith, I never did as a kid either. Every place we went to was strange to us. Both her and I have been looking into an Orthodox church, and I like everything they have said so far about Christianity, so hopefully it can become somewhere that I can bring my kids up in the faith like my mom always wanted to do.
Although not totally her fault, and I have no resentment whatsoever, I would like to have a father around for my kids. I have no idea what it's like having a male lead/partner or father figure in the dynamic, but that's something I don't want for my kids.
Anyways, I could go on and on and on! But thanks for the question, GC!
