I had terrible heartburn and know how you feel. It used to make me wake up at night. Do you also have it at night when you sleep? You can take antacids, like Tums when it hurts, but see your doctor first to be safe. I got over my heartburn by changing my diet and losing weight. If you get heartburn at night it can still make you hurt during the day.
I had to stop eating late, especially late night snacks. This gave me the biggest improvements. I stopped eating anything 3-4 hours before bed. I still occasionally eat late, but it is not a problem now once I got things to heal. When I would sleep I tried my best to sleep on my left side which also helps. Losing weight also made a big difference, but only do it if you are overweight. You may need to remove foods that can trigger it, like drinking soda and fried/oily foods. I had to also cut back on chocolate and spicy foods. I gave up eating a lot of my favorite snacks like chips for a while. Eating lots of raw veggies instead helped me. You basically need to give your stomach a rest from working hard so it can heal itself, but you should talk to your parents first to schedule an appointment with your general doctor.
