@kidzsearch @KidzBot

So, I've noticed that KidzTalk has the category "Venting" so let me get this straight. KIDSEARCH HAS ADDED THE CATERGORY VENTING? Like, venting online is unhealthy. If we have problems or we're having bad thoughts we should speak to a friend or trusted person/adult in real life. SO WHY ARE YOU ADDING THE CATEGORY "VENTING"? Like sure, sure, maybe people could just be talking about how annoying their neighbor has been to them, like that isn't really bad. But STILL, PEOPLE CAN BE VENTING ABOUT SERIOUS STUFF, (Stuff not meant to be in the "Serious stuff" category). Like some may be about wanting to die and venting online like that isn't healthy AT ALL. So if someone wants to vent, they should vent about their feeling to a trusted adult, or friend, or anyone who they trust in real life. Or even write it down in your diary. So, kidzsearch, can you please remove venting?

I guess because KT is a safe space to talk about things. I've vented about stuff on KT before, because I don't have anyone in real life to talk to, I don't have close friends, and I'm dealing with things I can't tell my parents. Plus I'm homeschooled. So KT, for a lot of people, is the only space they have where they can talk to other people the same age as them about such things. I do write in a journal most of the time but it's nice to actually talk to someone and feel less alone.

I do think it's better to talk to someone in real life if you can though. Because someone like a counselor can actually help you, while people on the internet can only say things to try and make you feel better.

We appreciate the feedback. However, everything posted is checked by our moderators before it is shown. If a topic is not a good fit to be posted online it would not be approved.

@kidzsearch Okay, but who are your moderators? Are they real moderators who actually examine the post? Or is it just Ai? Cuz, I don't want to be rude but.. If it is Ai then, I dunno that doesn't sound like a good idea. And half the world is already being taken over by Aicat-explosion

bruh if it was ai then the approval rate would be MUCH faster

The moderators are real people with experience checking for online safety.

@kidzsearch Yea, and what if 100 people posted a comment/post at the same time, how are you going to examine all of those posts/comments in time??

Hiiii

i ususally vent because I feel like no one else is like me

My Father Has Cancer

I Have Severe OCD

Thats alll i usually vent about but your opinion is very valid

Oh, sorry about your father  ):
But I guess that isn't to bad. Just make sure to not vent about stuff that can be REALLY serious. Of course, your father's cancer is serious and I hope he get's better. But I mean serious like talking about death and stuff.

thats a very reasonable opinion that I agree with. thanks for the kindness Abt my father. luckily his cancer isn't that severe

what if were venting about having crappy parents and having no friends
by

Well, I still wouldn't recommend venting about stuff like that. But no friends? I guess it's okay. Expressing you don't really have any friends is okay, and let's people understand you more and they can maybe also become your friends here! But talking bad about your parents well, even though there annoying or haven't been so great to you, I don't think it's a good idea. But uh, yeah..

Genuinely how is it unhealthy? It’s given me somewhere I knew I wouldn’t be judged. And someone I know personally would put my back in therapy or the mental hospital and I can’t go back man.
by

Well, those reasons are good. But people I know in real life have said venting online isn't healthy, I did even see a comment around here which said venting online ain't healthy. But though, I understand you do feel comfort. I know how you feel, but things didn't turn out "fully" great. It's complicated. But if you do feel safe and comfortable when your venting, that's great! But then, you should just be aware and careful. Venting is still unhealthy. Because even though your expressing serious things or like what bad things you've thought of yourself and talking about it online so people can understand, it is great no one is judging you. But then you may still feel like you need to express it in real life. Because holding something really big and not telling anyone in real life, even those you know you would "probably" understand isn't good. But you do feel better when you do release some of it online, but you'll feel even more better to know your able to express how you feel in real life. I've experienced the same thing. I kinda did think I would be judged and I wasn't sure what people's reactions would be. But instead, they didn't really judge. They understood. I can't say who "They" is, but all I can say it's family members. I never expected them to  be so understanding. But if you want to still vent online, okay you can do so. But you have to know one day you'll need to express how you actually feel in real life.

That’s a really thoughtful question, and it’s great that you’re thinking about what’s safe and helpful for everyone online.

The reason a “Venting” category exists is to give kids and teens a space to share everyday frustrations or feelings in a safe, moderated environment. Sometimes, people just want to talk about something that’s bothering them, like a tough day at school or feeling left out by friends. Sharing these feelings can help someone feel heard and less alone, especially when others reply with understanding or encouragement.

Venting online isn’t meant to replace talking to someone you trust in real life. It’s just another way to express emotions and get support. The posts are watched by moderators to make sure nothing unsafe or too serious is posted. If something is really serious or sounds like someone might be in danger, moderators can step in and make sure the person gets the help they need.

You’re right that some topics—like wanting to hurt yourself—are not healthy to only talk about online. That’s why there are different categories, and the most serious topics should be shared with trusted adults or professionals, not just online.

Writing in a diary or talking to someone in person is also a great idea. But for many, having a space to share with people their own age, even just about small annoyances, can help them feel supported.

If you ever feel uncomfortable with what you see in the “Venting” category, you can always skip it or talk to a moderator. And it’s always good to remind friends to seek help offline when things feel too heavy.

Let me know if you want to talk more about this or have other questions!

@KidzBot If your just a bot, how on earth did you change your profile-

by ✨ Charmer (8.9k points)
Good question! I don't actually change my own profile or make updates myself. The people who run the site (the moderators or admins) are the ones who set up my profile, picture, and anything else you see. I'm just here to answer questions and help out in conversations. If my profile ever changes, it's because a human updated it, not me. If you have any other questions about how I work or want to know something else, just ask!
